Coverage and thoughts on the November 4, 2011 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes in a Street Fight. Orton gets the pin. This was a great match. They brawled in the crowd for a bit, Orton took out Cody’s baggers and Cody’s “protective” mask was used as a weapon. Orton puts a bag over Cody’s head afterwards. So now Orton has beaten Cody TWICE and both were Non Title matches. I don’t get why they’re having Cody lose again! The match was really fun though.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. vs. Tyson Kidd. Ted gets the pin. This was a good but short match. Ted actually won a match! I’m not sure why they treat guys like Ted & Kidd like jobbers when a lot of these show how much talent they have when they have a match on NXT! Particularly Tyson Kidd because he is on NXT almost every week and has a great match. They should really let him do the same on Smackdown.

Matt Striker interviews Mark Henry asking him why he refuses to give Big Show another Title match and Mark says that he handled his business with Big Show at Vengeance. He then says that he’s tires of answering the same questions. He then looks across from the interview set and walks over to Daniel Bryan. Henry began bullying him, ragging on the Money In The Bank case and that he could never beat him. Then he challenged him to a match and Bryan accepted.

Alicia Fox vs. Natalya. Alicia gets the pin. This was a decent match. There does seem to be a formula for the Divas division lately. Beat Natalya and then challenge Beth for the Title. Alicia hasn’t gotten the Title match yet but I’m guessing she will. Also this is at least the second time (I think she they had a few matches on Superstars too) that Natalya has lost to Alicia. Why?

Big Show comes out and says that he will knock out Mark Henry once for every week on Smackdown because they have unfinished business. Christian then comes out and tells Show that he had his chance at the World Title and didn’t win. Then he insults the town for cheap heat. Show acted like he was going to knock out Christian but then he promises him that he won’t. Then he Choke Slams him. Sheamus then comes out for his scheduled match with Christian but Christian is out form the Choke Slam. Wade Barrett then comes out and fills in for Christian.

Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett. Barrett gets the pin. Christian was outside the ring the entire match and distracted Sheamus and that allowed Barrett to get the pin. After the match Sheamus tries to get at Barrett but Christian spears him. This was a good match.

Back from commercial and Sheamus brawls with Barrett & Christian back stage and security breaks it up.

Big Show is with Daniel Bryan backstage and Show tells him to take care of his MITB case because Show will be at ringside later when Bryan faces Mark Henry.

They show the Brodus Clay Video package mentioning his return next week.

Sin Cara vs. Epico. Cara wins by DQ when Hunico comes in. They double team Cara. This was a decent match.

Daniel Bryan vs. World Champion Mark Henry. Henry wins by DQ when Big Show knocks him out. This was good match. Big Show revives Bryan with a water bottle and tells him to cash the MITB case. Bryan hints that he might cash it in but Henry attacks him and gives him the World’s Strongest Slam. Henry then hits Show with the case and then gave him the World’s Strongest Slam also. Then Teddy Long comes out and announces Big Show vs. Mark Henry for the World Title at Survivor Series. Big Show is happy and laughing & Mark Henry is all upset outside the ring. This ended the show.

I thought this was a good episode on the whole. I really enjoyed the Orton-Cody & Sheamus-Barrett matches. The street fight had a lot of great brawling and the Sheamus-Barrett post match brawl backstage was good stuff too. I also enjoyed the Daniel Bryan-Mark Henry match. I thought they had a fun match.
