Coverage and thoughts on the November 11, 2011 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with a Randy Orton promo talking about the Survivor Series 10 man tag. Wade Barrett comes out and mentions how great he is and that he is looking for a World Title match but that he needs to prove that he is better than Orton. Orton isn’t interested in what Barrett has to say and just wants to RKO him. Christian then comes out with a neck brace and pretty much rags on Orton.  Orton then goes after Christian and then Barrett jumps Orton and he & Christian double team. Sheamus then comes out to even the odds. Then Teddy Long comes out and says that Sheamus will face Christian next and Orton will face Wade Barrett later. This was a good opening segment.

Sheamus vs. Christian. Sheamus gets the pin. This was a really fun back and forth match! After the match Christian puts the neck brace back on.

Daniel Bryan was backstage with AJ and Kaitlyn talking about his match with Mark Henry last week. Mark Henry then walks by and says that it took him 15 years to become World Champion and Bryan says that if he is still Champion at WrestleMania he will beat him for the Title. Henry gives him credit for having guts. He then says that it’s a shame he’s going to have spill them all over the ring tonight. This was a good backstage segment.

They show an Ezekiel Jackson video package saying that he has 2 sides. Being a family man outside the ring but inside the ring he’s the real deal pretty much. This was decent.

Teddy Long is backstage with Charles Robinson telling what a good referee he is. Aksana comes in and she hits on Long again and he says that for her first time on Smackdown he wants her to be at ringside to watch someone who has more seasoning and experience. Long has Alicia Fox come in and Aksana thinks she’s “Brianna” whoever that maybe and Aksana is all ecstatic as she walks out. Long is memorized and Alicia snaps him out of it and he wishes her good luck in her match tonight. This was idiotic.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. vs. Jinder Mahal. Ted gets the pin. This was a squash. It looks like they’re pushing Ted now and Mahal is in Jobberville.

Daniel Bryan vs. World Champion Mark Henry. Henry gets the pin. After the match Henry brings a chair into the ring and Daniel gets it and hit Henry with it but Henry no sells and Henry hits the World’s Strongest Slam and an elbow. He then gives him the World’s Strongest Slam again. Henry then puts Daniel’s ankle in the chair and he goes to the second for the splash and Big Show then comes out to make the save. Henry hits Bryan with the chair and then Show punches it out of Henry’s hands. Henry exits the ring as Show comes in. Show picks up the World Title and hold it for a bit then tosses it to Henry. Henry walks out with the Title and Show gets the mic and asks Henry if he thinks beating someone half his size is impressive. He then tells Henry to watch what he is going to do if he wants to see something impressive. This was good stuff. The match was good and the post match beat down followed by Big Show coming out was ok. The only part that didn't make sense was Big Show saying he was going to do something impressive by squashing 3 guys way smaller than he is.  

Big Show vs. 3 Guys. Show gets the quick pin. Mark Henry watched from the ramp and is not impressed. He says that the guys Big Show squashed aren’t him and that he knows that he impressed Show when he gave him the World’s Strongest Slam, when he put him out of action and when he became World Champion. He then says that at Survivor Series he will leave a lasting impression. Mark Henry is really awesome and easily the best booked guy in the company right now.

Alicia Fox vs. Tamina. Alicia gets the pin. Natalya was on commentary.

Backstage Matt Striker interviews Sheamus about what happened backstage last week when he attacked Christian and Wade Barrett came in. They show the clip and Striker asks Sheamus how he responds to being called a hot head. Sheamus says that he’s all about having a good time. Striker then says that Sheamus has been known to get angry when someone messes with him. Sheamus then stares down Striker and then laughs and says that he is spirited. This was a decent promo.

Hunico, Epico & Primo come out for their match with the Usos.

The Usos vs. Hunico & Epico. Hunico & Epico win when Hunico pins Jimmy. This was a good match. After the match they triple team the Usos and Hunico cuts a promo in Spanish.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett. Barrett gets the pin. This was a good back and forth match.

I thought this week’s show was really good on the whole. I liked the Sheamus-Christian and Orton-Barrett matches. The Bryan-Henry match followed by the Big Show coming out was good stuff too. Overall this was the usual good show that Smackdown usually is.
