12-20-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 20, 2012 taped episode of Impact

They started the show sending their condolences to the families of the victims of last Friday's tragedy. Classy move.

Then Kurt Angle comes to the ring. Since tonight it championship Thursday he's looking for a title shot. He wants a shot at the TV Title and tells Devon to get his ass out there. Out comes Devon with the rest of Aces & 8s. Angle says Devon had to bring his pack with him. Angle has a pack of his own. Out come Samoa Joe, Wes Briscoe & Garrett Bischoff.

Kurt Angle vs. TV Champion Devon for the Title. Devon gets the pin. During the match a brawl took place outside the ring. Angle waited inside the ring while everyone brawled. Devon got back in the ring and clipped Angle's knee from behind. Later in the match Angle had Devon in the ankle lock and then Aces & 8s came back out and distracted the referee as Devon tapped. Then Joe, Wes & Garrett came out. Then the big Aces & 8s guy hit Angle with a pipe. Then Devon got the pin. The match was solid and the brawls were good, but I'm not sure why everyone left and then came back out.

Brooke Hogan is in the GM office with Velvet Sky, ODB, Brooke Tessmacher & Mickie James. ODB decides to walk out on her own to take of EY. I can't stand these bits.

Kenny King mention that he beat RVD last week. He hasn't got any beef with RVD. Impact is the place where dreams come true. He fought RVD last week and is teaming with him this week. I'm not sure why they had Kenny King lose to RVD at Final Resolution, then beat him last week in a non title match and is now teaming with him this week.

X Division Champion Rob Van Dam & Kenny King vs. Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan. Morgan & Ryan win when Morgan pins RVD. Kenny could've stopped Morgan from giving RVD a Carbon Footprint but he rolled out of the ring and let Morgan hit it. This was solid. It looks like we'll be getting an RVD-Kenny King rematch. Kenny is all smiles on the ramp and asks RVD how his face is.

They replay AJ Styles' promo from last week.

The camera guy asks Kazarian how he feels about AJ walking out. Kazarian says he doesn't feel anything. AJ's boots were made for walking and he is out of sight, out of mind. Kazarian says he's concerned with it being the holiday season. He has a gift for everyone. Then he takes a call and it's "St. Nick." He asks how "Donnor's doing."

Hulk Hogan comes to the ring. He says the fans make him feel like he's 18. 2012 has been a great year for TNA. He saw this small company start to grow and now it's a full fledged monster. The TV & PPVs have been great. Now they're giving fans a chance to vote for TNA wrestler of the year. We'll find who the winner is on January 3. Cue Aces & 8s music and out the come. Hulk tells Devon to get in the ring by himself. Devon says Hulk's been telling so many lies, he think Hulk is starting to believe them. 2012 was the year Aces & 8s was born and beat the hell out of all the so called TNA wrestlers. This club represents the truth, not the garbage Hulk's been telling the fans. The fans chant Hogan. Devon says 2013 will also be the year for Aces & 8s. It will also be the year that they be revealed and their goal will be accomplished, but Hulk won't be around to see it. Out comes Bully Ray and he screams at Aces & 8s to get in the ring. Then Hulk & Ray have a stare down. Hulk eveentually walks out, still not trusting Ray. This was a decent segment. I liked Devon's line about Hulk starting to believe all his own lies, since that how it would seem he really is. How long will the "Hulkster doesn't trust Ray" bit go on for though? That's getting old.

Jeff Hardy mentions that he beat Austin Aries at BFG. He found a new respect for him, but now he sees his true colors. Aries paid Aces & 8s off to take him out. Jeff says he's easy to find.

Back to the Brookster with the remaining knockouts. Tessmacher says she deserves a fair shot without Jessie at ringside. Mickie doesn't think she's had a fair fight either. Velvet says they're all their for a title match. Brookster eliminated Tessmacher. Tessmacher says she'll prove everyone wrong. This was weak too.

Kazarian is backstage and is on his way to the ring with a gift.

Frankie Kazarian comes to the ring. They have a throne and Christmas tree in the ring. He says not even the fans can ruin the festive mood he is in. He has the holiday spirit. The tree has a pic of Kazarian & Daniels on top of it. Then Kazarian brings out his friend, the guy who beat AJ Styles, the face of Impact, Christopher Daniels. Out comes Daniels. Kazarian says that since Daniels has been such a deer friend to him and since Daniels is a trustworthy saint of a man, Kazarian has arranged for a very special vistor to come out. Of course it's "Santa Claus." Out comess a guy in in a Santa costume (and looking kind of thin). Kaz says that since Santa's always giving presents, they decided to get him a gift. It's a pair of zubaz. Santa hugs Kaz. Kaz is sure Santa has a question for CD. Daniels sits in "Santa's" lap and Kaz takes a pic. Then Santa asks if Daniels has been good this holiday season. Daniels says he's been so good. He got rid of the biggest loser in Impact history, AJ Styles. Santa says since they've given the fans what they want he will grant them their wish. Daniels says Christmas isn't about the gifts you get, but the gifts you give. Then Daniels asks "Santa" to give gifts to AJ Styles' kids since won't be able to. Then James Storm comes out. He was watching them make a mockery out of Christmas. When they start running down Christmas that won't happen on his watch. Daniels then tells Santa that Storm is the reason AJ can't get a title shot. He tells Santa to put Storm on the naughty list. James Storm gets in the ring and asks the Santa guy who he is. The guy says he's Sants. Storm says when he was 6 he asked for a gift he never got. The same happened when he was 16. Storm gets that Santa's busy this time of year bringing gifts to kids. Then Storm asks "Santa" what he asked for Christmas. Santa says it had to be something country. He brought up some country singer. Then Storm punched out "Santa." Sorry about "Santa's" damn luck. Then Storm throws gifts to the fans. This was a decent segment. Daniels & Kazarian were funny as usual. The Sants guy was ok and I was alright with James Storm's promo.

Austin Aries asks if the camera guy can hear his thoughts. He's thinking for the second week in a row he is in a title match. Jeff challenged him and that was a mistake because this won't be a ladder match. This will be a wrestling match. Aries will show why he is the best wrestler in the world today & regain his world title. Good promo.

Sting will be back on 1-3-13 and is coming to get Aces & 8s.

Aces & 8s are in the clubhouse. The VP says they had Hulk where they wanted him and then Ray came out. Another guy says he bleeds for this club. Devon says he has someone who might be willing to step up. He's a bit arrogant but can get the job done. They take a vote and it's a yay.

Brooke Hogan is with Mickie & Velvet. She says they've both been working hard. Brooke tells Velvet sit this 1 out. So Mickie gets the title match.

Mickie James vs. Knockouts Champion Tara for the Title. Tara gets the pin. This was a good match.

They show Joseph Park training in Louisville at the OVW training camp. His training partner punches him. He bleeds and then beats the crap out of him.

TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries for the Title. Jeff gets the pin. The referee gpt knocked out during the match. ARies called for another referee. He comes out but so does Bobby Roode. He yanks the second ref out of the ring. Then he makes the slow count. Then he gives Aries a spine buster. Then Jeff hit the Twist of Fate followed by the Swanton. The first referee comes and makes the count. This was a really good match.

The camera guy asks about the world title picture & Aces & 8s. Hulk says that he has plans figured out for both for 2013. He's glad 2012 is almost over. Then Hulk sees Brooke & Bully Ray together and they make out to end the show. This was a weak ending.

I thought this was a solid show overall. Angle-Devon was solid and I liked the brawling during the match. Jeff Hardy-Austin Aries was really good. Mickie-Tara was too. I wasn't into the usual championship Thursday bit with a Hogan deciding who gets the title match tough. The Kazarian-Daniels-"Santa"-James Storm segment was decent too. Daniels & Kazarian were their usual comical selves. The Hulk Hogan-Bully Ray-Aces & 8s segment was decent but the whole "Hulk doesn't trust Ray" bit isn't working for me. The Aces & 8s in the clubhouse bit was kind of weak too. I liked Austin Aries' promo though. Him saying that his thought can't be heard like Jeff's was funny. RVD & Kenny King vs. Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan was solid too and it looks like they're continuing the RVD-Kenny King feud. The end where Hulk saw Brooke & Ray making was a weak ending. This storyline with Ray & The Hogans is lame. But overall I thought this was a solid show this week.

12-18-12 Live Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 18, 2012 Live commercial free episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Miz TV. Miz welcomes everyone. Tonight will be a special episode. His guest shocked the world at TLC. The question on everyones mind is why. They will get to explain why now. His guests of course are Dolph & AJ. They come out with Big E. Langston. Miz asks why. AJ says really. SHe says Miz should ask Cena why he toyed with her heart. She lost her job as Raw GM because she wanted to keep Cena's name clean. And then this happened. They reshow Cena kissing AJ from last month. AJ says she thought that brought them closer together, but Cena was playing with her heart and emotions. She wanted to shout their love from the roof tops. She even gave him gifts. They show Vickie giving Cena the bow ties from 3 weeks ago. AJ says Cena didn't appreciate how long it took her to make those because Cena doesn't care about anyone but himself. She cared for him and supported him and this is what he had to say. They show 2 weeks ago when Cena told AJ not to come to ringside for his match. SUpposedly Cena was concerned about her saftey but she says he really wanted to keep her hidden. Cena was supposed to be different than Daniel & Punk. They both used her and Cena was supposed to be better than that. Cena broke AJ's heart, so she helped Dolph break Cena. Miz mentions Dolph called AJ trash a couple weeks ago. Then Big E Langston gets in Miz's face. He says he should change his question from what to who. She says he is Big E Langston. He is a friend of hers and doesn't like when people say "that word" around her. Dolph says AJ isn't crazy. She's passonate. Dolph learned that last night when Big E got in the ring and crushed Cena. He also learned it earlier in the night when she gave him the hottest kiss in the near 20 year history of Raw. Dolph says Cena can keep his slammy. Dolph then says at TLC not only did he retain his MITB but just like his shirt says, he stole the show and Cena's girlfriend. Miz hopes Dolph can satisfy her multiple personalities. She mentions everyone that AJ's been with and now she's settled for Dolph. Then Langston punches Miz and then he takes him out with his finisher. AJ then says show off and skips around. This was terrible! None of this crap makes any sense. This storyline is getting more and more idiotic!

Booker T is backstage and Teddy Long comes by. Long says there's someone he wants Booker to take a look at. In comes Brad Maddox. Booker says that's the guy who screwed Ryback. He tells Long that Maddox is creepy. Long says he has a great social media personality. Booker doesn't trust Brad. Long thinks he has talent. He says Booker knows that he deserves a second chance. Booker says he will have a match tonight and he will find out who he is facing later. This was stupid too. If they're making Teddy Long a heel, that makes no sense. I also hate that they have Maddox being filmed all the time when a camera man is filming the whole segment.

Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow (With Cody Rhodes). Sandow gets the pin. Mysterio was supposed to get his own entrance. His music played but he didn't come out. The Shield came out through the crowd and came to the ring. They had Mysterio's mask. That distracted Sin Cara and then Sandow got the pin. Afterwards The Shield attack Sin Cara. Rollins comes off the top rope and lands on Cara's knee. The match was solid and I liked The Shield coming out with Rey's mask. The Shiled is really over.

Santino Marella vs. Tensai. Santino gets the pin. This was a comedy match and it wasn't funny. WWE comedy never is.

They reshow the Flair-Punk-Kane-Daniel Bryan-Shield-Ryback segment/brawl.

Kane Daniel & Kofi are backstage. Kofi says it's about time someone took care of The Shield. Kane says Kofi needs to have eyes in the back of his head. The Shield took out Rey & Cara & they may never be the same again. Kofi says that they have to let him get his hands on Wade Barrett. Daniel gets pissed at Kofi because he thinks Kofi found it funnier when Kane & Daniel were in anger managment than Rock's Boston promo. Kane says that Daniel is upset that he didn't win a slammy. Daniel gets steamed. Kofi says if there was an award for best catchprase it would be whoo. Daniel flips and screams at Kofi asking him if he thinks Flair's catchphrase is better than his. Then he screams no. This was ok. I am getting kind of tired of the whole yes/no chant though. Daniel is a babyface now. How come they still have him chant no all the time?

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston and WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett & The Primetime Players. Kane, Daniel & Kofi win when Kane pins Darren Young. This was a good match.

Cena & Sheamus are backstage. Sheamus is flipping out over something idiotic. Cena says they need to be focused. He says that he's been in the ring with Big Show & Mark Henry but Big E Langston could be the strongest guy in WWE. Sheamus says that he is looking foward to this fight with WWE's biggest guys. Then Sheamus asks Cena about AJ. He says there's no one watching them (EVEN THOUGH THERE'S A CAMERA RIGHT THERE)! Then Cena says something in Sheamus' ear about what what happened with AJ. Then he says he was joking. This was really idiotic! I don't know why they have both Cena & Sheamus being these joke machine babyfaces.

CM Punk & Paul Heyman come to the ring. Punk says that he has the longest WWE Title reign in the modern era. 394 days. In 20 years everyone will recognize Punk as the greatest champion of all time, but the fans now wouldn't vote for him in the slammies. They made it a popularity contest and voted for Cena. Winning and losing doesn't mean anything to the fans. Punk rags on the fans and says the only thing the fans did last night was show that men and women shouldn't be allowed to vote. Then he rags on a fan. He expected this from losers. In the world there are winners like Heyman and himself and there are losers like the fans. He expected more from Cena but Cena knows he isn't the super star of the year and that Punk is better than him by leaps and bounds. Punk says Cena's a hypocryte. He sucked up to a legand and gave Punk's slammy to Ric Flair. The fans whoo and Punk says he wants them to support the relics from the past. What's more impressive then winning 16 world titles in a 95 year career is being 1 time champion for almost 400 days. Flair has lost alot of title matches. When it comes to title matches Punk doesn't lose. He is a real man. He is the gold standard. He set the bar so high no one can reach it. He mentions Ryback injuring him, but rather than healing up at home he came to the crappy town of Pittsburgh to entertain the fans. He mentions that Penguins are on strike. Punk never goes on strike and never has an off season. He is the reason the fans are there tonight. He will be back next year as WWE Champion because no one will beat him for the title. Not Cena, Rock, Flair or Austin. Then Ryback comes out. Heyman says that Punk is medically cleared to compete and Ryback knows that. Ryback then says that according to doctors he will be. Ryback has his eyes set on the first Raw of 2013 when he becomes WWE Champion. Feed him more. Punk & Heyman exit the ring. This was really good. Punk was great on the mic as usual.

Then Antonio Cesaro comes out to face Ryback in a rematch from last night.

Ryback vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Ryback gets the pin. This was a solid match but I'm not sure why they had Ryback face Cesaro 2 nights in a row.

They show a video of The Miz learning how to fly an F 18. Good video.

Kaitlyn is backstage and AJ comes by. Kaitlyn says that AJ does this over and over and it makes it hard to be her friend. Then AJ cries. Kaitln says she has a titele match and AJ needs help. AJ asks if she is choosing a title match over her friend. Kaitlyn says that she is choosing a title match over the lunatic standing there. Then AJ flips and attacks Kaitlyn. Referees come in to pull AJ off Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn vs. Divas Champion Eve Torres for the Title. Kaitlyn wins by DQ when Eve knocks over the referee. The match was ok but the finishe was lame.

Backstage AJ is complaining to Dolph about AJ attacking her. She calls Kaitlyn unstable. Dolph says Kaitlyn's jealous because AJ is with a future World Champion. Big Show comes in and tells Dolph that his future will entail being in a body cast for Christmas if he pulls what he did last night. Big E. Langston comes in. Show says he knows Dolph doesn't trust him. He tells Dolph that tries to set him up to cash in MITB he will knock out Dolph so hard that when Dolph wakes up the MITB contract will have expired. I wasn't really into this.

Brad Maddox comes out. He says his name a few times. He says no one in the arena, at home or around the world will ever forget the name Brad Maddox. Tonight he will win his match, get his contract and become a WWE super star. He will be facing Brodus Clay.

Brodus Clay vs. Brad Maddox. Brodus gets the pin. This was meaningless. Afterwards The Shield comes out and they attack Brodus. Then they give him the triple power bomb. That was impressive.

John Cena & Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler & World Champion Big Show. Cena & Sheamus win by DQ when Langston comes in and clotheslines Cena. Then AJ comes and skips around again. Then she & Dolph make out again. AJ has this big smile on her face. Then she skips around again as Langston stands over Cena. Sheamus & Big Show brawled to the back before the finish. Dolph poses on the turnbuckle as AJ looks at Cena to end the show. The match was solid but they've had this match before.

I thought this week's show was just there. Like most live Smackdowns this didn't have a lot. I don't know why they have the live Smackdowns if they're not going to give them any special meaning. The Miz TV segment that started the show was terrible. The main event tag match was solid but we've seen it before. It looks Cena will be feuding with Langston and the Sheamus-Big Show feud will continue. I don't know why since Sheamus lost at TLC. Brodus-Maddox was meaningless. I don't know why they keep having Maddox lose. I did like The Shield attacking Brodus though. AJ attacking Kaitlyn backstage was weak. The Kaityln-Eve match was ok but the DQ finish they did was lame. Punk's promo was great. He always cuts great promos. Ryback-Cesaro was solid but I'm not sure why they had this match again, and this time Cesaro did the clean job, which I wasn't into. The Cena-Sheamus backstage segment was idiotic! I'm not sure why Teddy Long reccomended Brad Maddox to Booker T. If they're turning Long heel that makes no sense. Santino-Tensai was typical not funny WWE comedy. The backstage bit with Kane, Daniel & Kofi was ok but I wish they'd have Daniel stop saying no all the time no that he is babyface. The Kane-Daniel-Kofi vs. Barrett & Primetime Players match was good. Sin Cara-Cody Rhodes was solid and I liked that The Shield came out with Mysterio's mask when they attacked Cara. Overall I though this week's show was just there. It wasn't great but it also didn't drag either.

12-17-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 17, 2012 Slammy Awards episode of Raw
The show starts with Rey Mysterio (With Sin Cara) vs. Damien Sandow (With Cody Rhodes). Mysterio gets the pin. This was a short match.

Out comes Booker T to present the first Slammy. He's honored to present a slammy that was named after him. The "Tell me I didn't just see that award" AKA the shocker of the year. He tells the fans how to vote on the APP. The candiates for shocker of the year are 1. Brad Maddox low blow's Ryback at hell in a cell 2. Sheamus beating Daniel Bryan for the World Title at WrestleMania in 18 seconds. 3. Kofi Kingston's miracle save at the Royal Rumble 4. Rock gets Punked. Then the Boogyman's music hits and he makes his cameo for the night return (For tonight anyway). He breaks the alarm clock over his head. Then he takes out the bag of worms.

Back to the show. No Boogyman. Booker says, "Tell me I did not just see that." The fans have spoken. As Booker was announcing the shocker of the year award winner Brad Maddox comes out. The award goes to Kofi Kingston. Kofi says he awlays wanted to win a slammy and didn't expect to win. He will continue to wow the fans. Thankfully this was short.

Kaitlyn vs. Divas Champion Eve Torres. Kaitlyn gets the pin. This was a typical Divas match. I was kind of surprised they had Kaitlyn win.

Out come The New Age Outlaws for the come back of the year award. Billy wanted to go to the ring. Road Dogg does hits old bit. I'll admit I popped for it. Road Dogg says Gunn will screw up his part. Billy gives the fans the come back of the year nominees. The choices are 1. Brock Lesnar 2. Chris Jericho 3. DX at Raw 1000 4. Jerry Lawler (They showed the film of Lawler in the back the night he collapesed. Then they show the night he returned).

Back to the show. The award goes to Jerry Lawler (I knew it would be). King heads up the ramp. He says that he shouldn't run or he might have another heart attack (Can they quit the heart attack jokes?) He thanks everyone who appreciated his comeback as much as he has. He loves the fans & it's great to be back.
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Tensai. Kofi gets the pin. This was a really short match. Tensai is on Jobber Island. Afterwards Wade Barrett comes out and attacks Kofi. Kofi was on the turnbuckle and Barrett pushed the ropes and Kofi fell. Then Barrett took Kofi outside the ring, rammed him back first into the ring post and then gave him the bull hammer. This was ok. It looks like the Kofi-Barrett rivialry will continue.

Out comes Vickie Guerrero to present the kiss of the year award. The choices are 1. AJ & Daniel Bryan 2. AJ & Kane 3. AJ & CM Punk 4. AJ & John Cena. This is idiotic! AJ's winning this and I could care less who the guy winner will be.

Back to the show. Before Vickie announces the winner she wants to state for the record that she would never be chosen for this award. She wouldn't use her authority this way like AJ did. The award not suprisingly goes to AJ & John Cena. AJ comes out. Before Vickie gives her the slammy, AJ needs to explain to everyone why did what did at TLC last night. AJ doesn't owe anyone anything. Not Vickie and not the fans For the past years she's cared what people think about her, but not anymore. Vickie says AJ is a 2 bit piece of trash. Then they argue and out comes Dolph. AJ says the award might have been kiss of the year, but it's nothing compared to this. Then she jumps into Dolph's arms and they have a long make out session as Vickie screams and flips out. Then AJ skips to the back with her slammy. This was stupid! So now AJ is a heel?

Great Khali (With Natalya) vs.David Otunga. Khali gets the pin. This was short but very painful. Afterwards Khali & Natalya dance in the ring. UGH! Natalya deserves so much better.

Ric Flair's voice comes on the speakers to announce the Super star of the year award. That was surprising to hear Flair's voice. 1. Sheamus 2. John Cena 3. Big Show 4. CM Punk

Back to the show. Out comes special guest Ric Flair to present the award. Flair says he loves Philly. The fans are loud as ever. The Nature Boy is back in town. He can't saywhere he will be tonight because he might get in trouble. Then he reads the superstar of the year winner and it's John Cena. No surprise there! Out comes Cena. The fans boo. Cena says they're a lively crowed. He thanks them for all the noise. The fans continue booing. SUperstar of the year is about hustle, loyalty and respect. The person who holds it needs to work harder than anyone else. He wants to recognize the fan's loyalty. They boo again. Then Cena says that out of respect the super star of this should be the greatest super star of all time. The 2 time Hall of Fame Nature Boy Ric Flair. He says it's great to see Flair back where he belongs. He gives Flair the award and says it belongs to him. Flair says he doesn't know why the fans don't like him. Then out come CM Punk & Paul Heyman. Punk says this is idiotic on so many levels. Flair hasn't been in WWE the whole calender year and Cena doesn't deserve the award. He says Cena is a loser just like the fans and Flair. Punk says he never wanted to be Flair. He won super star of the year last year and is the super star of the year this year too. He's been WWE Champion for 393 days and id the man. Flair says it's time for Punk to go. He says Punk can't walk and is carrying around some baggage, that being Heyman. Flair says hasn't been there all year but he's been watching. Punk says he can kick Flair's ass with 1 leg. Punk asks Flair about his baggage. Flair asks if Punk is talking about his 2 HOF rings or his 4 ex wives. Punk says he can beat up Flair just like he can to everybody in Philly. Flair takes his jacket off and says, "Let's do it." Flair goes to the ring. Punk then makes his way to the ring as Heyman attempts to talk him out of it. The fans booed the crap out of Cena and that made his speech even more idiotic! I'm really hoping Flair does not have a match again!
Back to the show and Punk gets in the ring. The fans chant ECW. Punk breaks a crutch over Flair's back. He was going to use the other crutch but Flair pokes him in the eye. Then Flair gets Heyman in the Figure 4 and Heyman taps. Flair says he came to have a good time. He wants to say something he hasn't had a chance to say. He tells Lawler he loves him. Flair then says that if he dies, he wants it to be in the ring or with a Philly woman. He then says that he got to perform in 1 of the greatest sports towns. Then The Shield's music hit and they're in the crowd. Flair tells them to come on down. I wasn't really into Flair getting the better of Punk but I knew they were gonna do that.

Back to the show and Kane & Daniel Bryan are brawling with The Shield. Ambrose punches out Flair. Then he goes after Daniel. Kane & Reigns go at it but the other guys come in. They throw Kane into the ring barrier. Then Ambrose & Rollins get in the ring and bring Flair to the outside. Reigns takes apart the announce table and they were going to power bomb him through it. Then feed me more hits and Ryback comes out. He cleans house. Then he press slams Rollins through the announce table. Then Flair, Kane, Daniel & Ryback go in the ring and Ryback shakes Flair's hand. Then they raise heach other's arms and then they lift Flair up on their shoulders. This was ok. I just wish Punk & The Shield hadn't gotten buried here because of Flair's return.

Backstage Flair is with Kane & Daniel. Kane says they finally got to The Shield and says yes. Daniel says no. Kane says yes, Daniel says no and Flair says whoo. Then Ron Simmons comes by and says damn. This was lame.

Brodus Clay vs. JTG. Brodus gets the pin. This was a meaningless battle of the jobbers. Afterwards they bring some kids in the ring and Brodus does his idiotic bit.

Out come Santino Marella & Tensai (That's a weird team) to present the LOL moment of the year award. Tensai has an ice pack on his head and trips on his way out. Santino says they're here to present the LOL moment of the year. Santino calls Tensai Albert. The fans chant that. Then he talks like him and says that Tensai is Japanese for Fat Albert. Santino says that's what was on the teleprompter. Tensai mentions that there is no teleprompter. The choices are. 1. The Rock's promo from Boston 2. The first Kane & Daniel Bryan anger managment class 3. Randy Orton throwing coffee and chilli on Ricardo 4. Vickie Guerrero dancing. This was really idiotic.

Back to the show. Santino asks Tensai if he wants to read the winner. Tensai doesn't. Santino says that this segment fell flat (Most of this show has). The award goes to The Rock. Santino says Rock isn't there. The fans boo. Santino says he will accept the award and that if Rock doesn't show up he will keep it. Then Daniel Bryan comes out. He screams no and says this should be his slammy. Kane comes out and picks up Daniel and walks to the back as Daniel screams no. This was weak.

Sin Cara (With Rey Mysterio) vs. Cody Rhodes (With Damien Sandow). Cody gets the pin. This was solid.

Out come Zack Ryder & Layla. Layla says social media is amazing. It has allowed the wrestlers to interact with the fans 24-7. She tells the fans about the APP. They're presenting the trending now award of the year. Ryder says he is a nominee. The choices are 1. Feed me more 2. People Power. 3. Little Jimmy 4. WWWYKI. I'm picking #whogivesacrap! This was terrible. Layla sounded so forces when she spoke.

Back to the show. Ryder says we have a winner. The award goes to Feed me more. Ryder says he will go to the back and give him the award. Then he says woo woo woo you know it. This was meaningless
Big Show comes to the ring. He says the fans let him down and didn't vote for him for super star of the year. He's not upset about that because he still World Champion. He sais he was going to beat Sheamus and he did. He says the fans can't handle that Show is the most dominant guy in WWE. The fans boo him and chant boring. Big Show screams to the fans not to chant that to him. Then out comes Sheamus. Sheamus isn't here to fight. He has no regrets about last night's match. It was 1 of the most painful matches of his career. SHow was the better man last night. He beat Sheamus and deserves to be World Champion. Sheamus has decided to congratulate Big Show and shake his hand. Sheamus offers his hand and Big Show accepts. Then Show tells the potato eating Irishman to get to the back of the line. He says that the ginger snap couldn't beat him. Then Sheamus tackles Show and hits him with the giant chair. Then he gives him a Brogue Kick. This was ok. Big Show was good when he played off the crowd's reaction. I wish WWE would let all their guys do that.

Then out comes Dolph Ziggler and he is about to cash in MITB. Then out comes Cena and he throws Dolph around. They should've had Dolph cash in MITB! Having Cena coming out and preventing that was idiotic.

Dolph Ziggler tells Vickie that Cena costs him the World Title. She asks him what happened at TLC last night. She asks how it was kissing AJ. Dolph asks what Vickie was doing out there. Vickie says that she was doing her job. Then she asks him how he got AJ to help him. Dolph says AJ is unpredictable. Then he says that his relationship with Vickie is over. Her jealousy is tired, old and just plain ugly just like her. Vickie gives Dolph a rematch against Cena. It will be Dolph & AJ vs. Cena & Vickie. So now AJ is a heel and Vickie is a face? This is getting more and more idiotic!

Miz says they surprised everyone with Brooklyn Brawler as their partner last night. Tonight their partner takes it to the extreme. The heart and soul of ECW Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer comes wearing a House of Hardcore shirt. I popped huge for Dreamer! The fans chant ECW.

Alberto Del Rio, The Miz & Tommy Dreamer vs. 3MB. Del Rio, Miz & Dreamer win when Dreamer pins Slater. This was a solid match. The fans chanted ECW and Tommy Dreamer during this. It was cool to see Dreamer.

Sheamus comes out. Before he presents the new comer of the year ward he has something to say. He says attacking Big Show with the chair was 1 of the best moments of his life. The fans chant Tommy Dreamer. Sheamus acknowledges that. 3 years ago he won a slammy award for new comer of the year. Now he is a 3 time World Champion. Tonight's nominees are off to a great start. The choices are 1. Antonio Cesaro 2. Brodus Clay 3. Damien Sandow 4. Ryback

Back to the show. The award goes to Ryback (Not surprising). Ryback comes out. He mentions that Owen Harty used to say enough is enough and it's time for a change. He is that change. Then he chants feed me more. I liked that he mentioned Owen Hart.

Antonio Cesaro comes out. He says the awards are rigged. Everyone knows that Cesaro is the true new comer of the year. He is stronger and smarter than Ryback, and unlike Ryback he is a champion
Ryback vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Ryback wins by count out when Cesaro walks out. This was ok. I'm glad they didn't have Cesaro do a clean job.

Out comes Gene Okerlund. Then Ricky Steamboat. Followed by Jim Ross. Gene says it's his honor to be out there with 2 of his closest friends to present the final award of the night, match of the year . Steamboat says he has won match of the year many times. JR says he's called some of this year's matches and they're all deserving. The choices are 1. Undertaker vs. Triple H from WrestleMania 29 2. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar from Extreme Rules 3. Sheamus vs. Big Show from hell in a cell 4. The Rock vs. John Cena from WrestleMania 29.

Back to the show. The award goes to Taker vs. Triple H. Cue Triple H's music and he comes out. He hugs all 3 guys. The fans cheer and chant Triple H. Hunter says he won a slammy for best hair once. Every now and then you get to be a part of something that...the fans chatn we want Taker. He says you get do be something that can be described as magic. For him to be out there with 2 guys that he respects, Michaels and the guy he considers to the bench mark of what this business is about, taker. It was an honor to be part of that and it was the end of an era. The fans chant thank you Hunter. Then he thanks the fans. He says there's a million dollar question that he's gonna answer. That being we have not seen the last of The Undertaker. This was good.

Backstage The Shield beat on Tommy Dreamer. They throw him into the metal garrage door. Then Ricardo comes in and they toss him to the floor. Then they walk out as referees check on Dreamer & Ricardo. This was a good bit.

AJ Lee comes to the ring for the mixed tag. She tells 2 crew guys to get a ladder out from under the ring. They set it up. She climbs the ladder with a mic in her hand.

Back to the show. AJ is on top of the ladder. She says that she's full of surprises. All anyone has to her is why would she do what she did to Cena. She stopped at a gas station and was asked why. A bust boy at a hotel asked too. So did a few Divas. Everyone asks her why and she thought it would be obvious. The reason she knocked Cena off the ladder...Out comes Vickie. She says no one cares why AJ pushed Cena off the ladder. AJ comes down and faces off with Vickie. Then out comes Dolph. Then out comes Cena. He mentions afew fans that are behind him and says that it is Philadelphia. Then he slides into the ring.
John Cena & Vickie Guerrero vs. Dolph Ziggler & AJ Lee. Cena & Vickie win by DQ when AJ brings out Big E. Langston and he goes after Cena. During the match AJ walked to the back. Dolph pounded on Cena. Then Vickie walked to the back and it became a singles match. Then AJ came back out with Big E. Langston. He attacks Cena and the refferee calls for the bell. He stands over Cena and AJ skips around him as her music plays. This weird bit ends the show.

I'm not a fan of the slammy episodes and I thought this was meaningless like it is every year. The whole slammy bit is idiotic. They should do away with that. I liked seeing Tommy Dreamer and him getting attacked by The Shield made sense. Dreamer's all about putting people over. I liked that Ryback mentioned Owen Hart but I'm not sure Ryback is the kind of change the fans will get behind. The Cena-Dolph-Vickie-AJ angle continues to be idiotic! Now they have Vickie as a face and AJ as a heel. Vickie being a face is going to feel as forced as Del Rio & Miz being baby faces. I'm tired of Ric Flair so I wasn't really into him being on the show. I also hated that they had Punk & The Shield get buried here. Most of the other matches were short and meaningless. The best ones were Sin Cara-Cody Rhodes & I was ok with the 6 man tag. Ryback-Cesaro was ok and I'm glad they didn't have Cesaro get pinned. The Sheamus-Big Show segment was ok but how much more can they do with these 2 now that Sheamus lost at TLC also? Triple H's promo was really good too. The main event was weird but I was ok with Big E Langston's debut. Overall I thought this was a mixed bag show this week.

12-14-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 14, 2012 episode of Smackdown
The show starts with Sheamus & Antonio Cesaro on commentary. Then Big Show comes out for a match.
R-Truth vs. World Champion Big Show. Show gets the pin. This was a decent match. Afterwards Big Show tries to goad Sheamus into hitting him. Then Cesaro attacks Sheamsu from behind, sending him into Big Show. Big Show says that Sheamus hit him. He walks up the ramp laughing it up.
Big Show is backstage and tells Booker that Sheamus has violated the no contact clause. That means the title match has to be called off. Booker says that Cesaro threw Sheamus into him. Booker then tells Show that if he's scared of Sheamus he should admit it. Show isn't scared of Sheamus. Booker says that match for the PPV is still on.

Damien Sandow is in the ring. For 2 weeks he has been hoping to find someone who is worthy of becoming his apprentice. His quest has been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Therefore, it is with esteemed pleasure that he reintroduces his tag team partner and best friend. He tells the fans to stand up and remain silent. The fans boo. Sandow tells them to show the proper respect for Cody Rhodes. Out comes Cody. Cody says it's an honor to be standing back in the ring with Sandow. Now Damien can end his quest for an apprentice because he has his partner back. For anyone who tries to break up their friendship, like The Miz, Cody says this. Cody doesn't get a chance to say anything because the Usos' music hits and they come out.

The Usos vs. Rhodes Scholars. Rhodes Scholars win when Sandow pins Jay. This was solid.

David Otunga is backstage reviewing the no contact clause contract. He tells Big Show that he is right. Big Show tells him to use his Harvard degree for him. Otunga says they should talk about this in the ring.

Big Show & David Otunga are in the ring. Show says everyone saw Sheamus put his hands on him. The fans boo. Show says it's Sheamus' fault. He tried to explain to Booker T that Sheamus violated the no contact clause, whoch means there will be no match at TLC. If Booker won't listen to Show, maybe he will listen to Otunga. Otunga says that Booker made Show sign a no contact clause contract and now Booker isn't following his own rules. They have no choice but to bring this to the Board of Directors. They'll also demand that Booker be removed as Smackdown GM. Out comes Booker T. He says that Otunga's Harvard degree isdn't worth the paper it was printed on. Contracts aren't neccisarily letter of the law. Otunga objects. Booker says if Otunga wants to go to the board and waste their time, then he can go ahead. Booker says the match is still on. Otunga says Sheamus violated the contract. Otunga then says that he will see to it that the Board fire both Booker & Sheamus. Then out comes Sheamus with a chair. He says that if the match gets called off there's nothiing to stop him from kicking Big Show's "arse" right now. Show then says that the contract is still valid. Then Big Show walks up the ramp. Then Sheamus gives Otunga a Brogue Kick. This was weak. This whole no contact clause is really lame.

They reshow Raw 2 weeks ago when The Shield attacked Randy Orton after he beat Brad Maddox.

Matt Striker was scheduled to interview Randy Orton. Break time.

Back from the break and backstage The Shield stomps on a fallen Randy Orton. They supposedly powerbombed him through a table (It wasn't shown).

Kaitlyn vs. Aksana. Kaitlyn gets the pin. This wasn't much. It was a typical Divas match.

Matt Striker is backstage. He says that Orton has separated his shoulder. He also might have gotten a concussion. This was the storyline to write Orton out of the show. I believe he actually does have a separated shoulder.

Time for Miz TV. Miz welcomes everyone to the most must see talk show. The most controversial unit right now are The Shield. They've been reaking havoc for the sake of Justice. Miz says that his guests and their partner will put a stop to The Shield at TLC. Then out come Kane & Daniel Bryan. Miz will start with Daniel since he's know him ever since he came to WWE. Miz asks how did it feel. Daniel asks if Miz is Oprah. The time for talk is over. It's time for action. He will unleash his anger on The Shield at TLC and they will be begging for the pain to stop. Daniels says when that happens he will say no. Kane says The Shield made the mistake of they're lives by attacking them, because now Kane & Daniel are on the same page and are unstoppable. They will use tables, ladders and chairs and will love every second of it. Daniel chants Yes. Then The Shield show up on the Tron. Ambrose says to ask Orton what happens when you threten The Shield. Reigns says that Kane is now a helpless victim because of them. Kane says why wait till Sunday. Reigns says they agree. Then The Shield shows up in the top row of the crowed. Then they make their way to ringside but then feed me more hits and out comes Ryback. He gets in the ring & he, Kane & Daniel stare down The Shield. Ryback then leads the fans in the feed me more chant. The Shield backs off. This was a solid segment. The Shield have been really good so far and I thought Kane & Daniel were good here too.

Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Great Khali & Hornswoggle vs. The Primetime Players and Primo & Epico. Justin, Tyson, Khali & Hornswoggle win when Tyson pins Primo. This was ok. Afterwards The heels go on the attack but get disposed of. Hornswoggle dives onto Titus. Titus catches him but he gets taken down. Then Gabirel dives onto Primo or Epico (Not sure which one it was). Khali, Natalya & Hornswoggle really are like a new version of The Oddities.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio. Kofi gets the pin. This was a good match. Afterwards Wade Barrett comes out. He goes to clothesline Kofi but Kofi ducks and gives Barrett the Trouble In Paradise.

Time for the Raw Rebound.

William Regal & Sheamus are backstage. Regal tells Sheamus not to let Big Show get to him. He tells Sheamus to focus on Cesaro. Sheamus says Big Show can do whatever he wants to push Sheamus' buttons, but he won't push back till Sunday. Then he will hit Big Show with chair shot after chair shot and become World Champion. This was a good backstage bit.

Sheamus vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro wins by count out. Big Show came out with a beaten down William Regal. Sheamus walked up the ramp to & Regal tells Sheamus not to let Big Show get to him. Then Big SHow hit Regal in the back with a chair. That led to the count out. Big Show walks to the back as Sheamus is all bent out if shape. This ends the show.

I thought this week's show was decent overall. Truth-Show was solid and I liked the Sheamus-Cesaro match. The finish made sense too. The Big Show-Otunga-Booker T segment was kind of weak. The no contact clause doesn't do it for me. Kofi-ALberto was also a good match. The 8 man tag was ok but nothing great. This Khali-Hornswoggle-Natalya trio is weird. The Miz TV segment was decent. I liked The Shield's promo on the Tron and I thought Kane & Daniel were good here too. I liked the stare down too. Kaitlyn-Aksana was a typical Divas match and The Usos vs. Rhodes Scholars was solid. Overall I thought they did a decent job building to TLC.

12-10-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 10, 2012 episode of Raw

My apologies for this going up later than usual, but my computer has been giving me a hard time.

The show starts with Dolph Ziggler in the ring standing on top of a ladder. He talks about how he will face and beat Cena at TLC. He will put the lump of coal in Cena’s stocking. Then out comes Sheamus. He says that Dolph shouldn’t worry about cashing in on Big Show. Sheamus says he will beat Big Show and become World Champion. Then he says that for Dolph to cash in MITB he has to win against Cena. Sheamus doesn’t think that will happen. Sheamus believes that it will be him vs. Cena for the World Title. Then out comes Big Show. He says that both Sheamus & Dolph are delusional. Then he says he’d love to smear Sheamus’ face all over his fist, but because of the no contact clause he can’t do that. Then Sheamus says just because he can’t touch Big Show but he can’t do something to some one else. Then he pushes Dolph off the ladder to the floor.

Kofi Kingston & Antonio Cesaro are on commentary.

Wade Barrett is in the ring and out comes Vince McMahon and announces that Big Show will face Cena in tonight’s main event. Then he brings out Vickie Guerrero. He says 2 main events would be better than 1. Vince suggests Sheamus be in a match. Vickie thinks about who Sheamus should face and realizes that Vince was referring to Dolph. Vince says they should have a third main event. Vickie mentions having AJ in a handicap match. Vince thinks about for awhile, the fans chant Vickie. Then Vince books AJ vs. Vickie for tonight. Vince says that’s the truth. Then R-Truth comes to the ring for his match with Wade Barrett. This was idiotic. I really hope they don’t’ have this bit with Vince & Vickie every week. Also why was this happening while Wade Barrett was in the ring?

R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett. Truth gets the pin. This was a short match. I’m not sure why they had Barrett lose in such a short match. Afterwards Truth gets in Cesaro’s face. Then Kofi Kingston gives Barrett a high cross body off the top rope. The post match stuff was alright. They did a decent job building up to the 2 secondary title matches. Too bad it was at Wade Barrett’s expense.

AJ is all thrilled about being in a match with Vickie. She walks up to Aksana and then Kaitlyn all psyched. Kaitlyn says something I couldn’t make out. Then AJ goes into the guy’s locker room and jumps into Cena’s arms. He says they should go to someplace besides the men’s locker room. This was odd.

The Usos vs. Primo & Epico vs. The Primetime Players vs. Rhodes Scholars in a 4 way elimination tag team match. The winners will face Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio in a tables match at TLC. The winners of the TLC match will challenge Kane & Daniel Bryan for the WWE Tag Team Titles. Why isn’t this a number 1 contender’s match? Also Cody returned like nothing happened. I thought that was a bit underwhelming. * Primo & Epico are eliminated when an Uso pins 1 of them. * During the commercial break An Uso pinned Darren Young (Why was the elimination during a break)? * Cody pins Jimmy Uso. This was a decent match but I though the eliminations were too fast. The tag titles really have no meaning. I was actually kind of surprised the had this match at all. Winners – Rhodes Scholars

Alicia Fox vs. Divas Champion Eve Torres. I actually missed this match but I read Eve won. My apologies for missing the match. Then afterwards Eve wanted photographers to take pics of her standing of Alicia. I missed that too but I read about it. Sorry about that.

CM Punk & Paul Heyman come out. Punk is on crutches. Punk says it’s come his & Heyman’s attention that there are more than a few fans that think his injury is fake. They think his surgery never happened. Some fans think this is a scheme to duck out of another match with Ryback. He says this is real life. Injures happen and wrestling is a tough sport. Punk says he’s been champion for 388 days without slowing down. Injuries will happen. Then they replay Ryback attacking Punk at the end of Raw last week. Heyman hates to be the bearer of bad news but the fans are ticking him off. How dare the fans chant feed me more at Punk 6 days after he had emergency surgery? Punk is a legitimate champion. For 388 days Punk has been WWE Champion and last week he got injured to the point where he needed surgery. He didn’t have a stunt double like The Rock. Punk isn’t complaining. He’s standing out here like the great champion that he is. He is standing before the fans tonight unlike The Rock. Rock just shows up when he gets a title match. Ryback is no longer a concern for Punk. Punk will remain WWE Champion and is the best in the world. Punk then talks about the vocal minority who think he should be stripped of the title. He says Ryback isn’t smart enough to keep Punk healthy. Cena, Big Show, Dolph, Del Rio, Miz, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Jericho and probably many others couldn’t take the title. Ryback had 2 chances and blew it both times. Rock has 1 shot and he will fail. Unlike any other person, he will not be at home healing up with an ice pack. He will be at TLC this Sunday and watch The Shield do to Ryback what Ryback did to him last week. This was a good segment. Punk & Heyman cut great promos as usual. I’m hoping Punk heals up soon!

Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus wins by DQ when Dolph uses a chair. Afterwards Dolph hit Sheamus in the back with the chair. Then he was going to hit Sheamus a second time but Sheamus Brogue Kicked the chair into Dolph. This was a good match and I knew there wouldn’t be a clean finish. I wasn’t into Dolph getting Brogue Kicked however. They continue to make Dolph look like a jobber.

Khali & Hornswoggle are helping Vickie stretch. Vince comes in and says he thought this was supposed to be a family show. Vickie screams and Khali & Hornswoggle walk out. This was typical WWE comedy.

They replay The Shield video from Smackdown. That was a good video.

Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This was a solid match. Ryder got in some offense before tapping to the arm breaker.

After AJ & Vickie came to the ring for their match, Vickie asked where the referee is. Out came Brad Maddox.

AJ Lee vs. Vickie Guerrero. Vickie gets the pin. This was lame. AJ covered Vickie and wouldn’t make the count. Then AJ got in his face. Then Vickie rolled AJ up for the win. That was very predictable. Then AJ flips out and throws a chair and a pushes a ladder down. Then she slaps Justin Roberts. Then she storms to the back.

AJ is backstage flipping out still. Cena comes by and says she’s wrecking the place. He tells her to calm down and AJ cries. Cena tells her she’ll be ok. This was weak.

Antonio Cesaro comes out for his match with Kofi Kingston. He says as U.S. Champion he travels this once proud country every week. The truth is America has gone rotten. Especially in New Jersey. They need him to be U.S. Champion more than anybody. At TLC R-Truth will learn the hard way that the truth hurts.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro gets the pin. This was a really good match.

Miz comes out for Miz TV. The set it on the stage this time. His guests are Rhodes Scholars, or as he likes to call them the beardo and the weirdo. Out come Cody & Sandow. Sandow says the only thing worse than Miz having his own show are the idiot fans that watch it. He says it’s his honor to reintroduce everyone to his best friend. He tells the fans to remain silent for the new and improved Cody Rhodes. Cody thanks Sandow. Cody then says that he & Sandow are a revelation. He calls the New Jersey fans morons. Miz asks if Cody grew that moustache on his lip or did Damien’s beard rub off on it. Sandow says that it is ironic that someone who used to be the star if a reality show has lost touch with reality. Miz finds it ironic that they’ll become tag team champions, when he doesn’t think they’ll win at TLC. Sandow says Miz isn’t a good host. He says he finds Miz’s questions to be repugnant. Miz asks Cody how it felt that Sandow never visited him when he was rehabilitating his shoulder. He says that Sandow said that Cody is Marty Jannetty and he is Shawn Michaels. Miz asks how it feels to always be overshadowed by someone. Cody says maybe the current slump Miz is in by hosting this show has to do with the fact that he has become 1 of these people. Cody says they’re not gonna take this trash anymore. This interview is over. They walk out. Then Miz says he has a new name for Team Rhodes Scholars. The pink and the stink. That was corny. This segment was idiotic.

Cena is backstage and AJ comes by. She wants to be at ringside to support Cena. Cena tries to talk her out of it. She wants to be there. Cena says if anything were to happen to AJ he would feel responsible. AJ reluctantly agrees to remain backstage.

Dolph Ziggler is on commentary.

John Cena vs. World Champion Big Show. Cena wins by DQ when Seth Rollins comes in. Afterwards Ambrose & Reigns come in and they attack Cena. They bring a table into the ring and set it up in the corner. Then Kane’s pyro goes off and out come Kane & Daniel Bryan. They brawl with The Shield. Then Dolph goes after Cena. Then Big Show head butts Cena. Then Sheamus comes to the ring and goes after Dolph. Then Cena spears Show through the table. The Shield stomp on Kane. I think Cena got tossed over the guardrail. Then Ryback comes out. He throws a ladder at the shield. Then he gets in the ring and goes after them. Ryback, Kane & Daniel brawl with The Shield to end the show. This was good. I liked the match and the post match brawling was really entertaining.

I thought this week’s show was good over all. The Cena-Dolph-Big Show segment at the start was ok. I thought Cena-Big Show was solid and I enjoyed the brawl at the end. Punk & Heyman both cut good promos as usual too. The 4 way elimination tag match was decent but not having the winners challenge the champions made no sense. They could’ve had a tag team turmoil number 1 contender match with the 4 teams plus Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio and Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd. The Miz TV bit with Rhodes Scholars was idiotic. Miz as a face just doesn’t seem to click. Sheamus-Dolph was good but I knew there wasn’t going to be a clean finish. Truth-Barrett was too short to be much of anything. I don’t know why they had Vince & Vickie doing their bit before that match either. Kofi-Cesaro was really good. That was my favorite part of the night. On the whole I thought this was a good show this week. The final hype for TLC was good. The brawl at the end really had a "what's going to happen at TLC" feel to it.

12-7-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 7, 2012 episode of Smackdown

They start the show with an article from wwe.com and Josh Mathews reading it. It says that because of what happened on Raw, CM Punk injured his knee. It also mentions that the surgery to repair Punk’s partially torn meniscus was successful. They mentioned that Punk won’t be facing Ryback at TLC but Ryback will get another title match in the near future. Then they show a second article saying that because of what took place on Raw, The Shield will now face Kane, Daniel Bryan & Ryback in a TLC match that be won by pinfall or submission. (Punk will not be facing Ryback at TLC because of a legit knee injury. The WWE article is obviously part of the storyline so Punk can heel). Also since they changed the match why is it still a TLC match?

The actual show starts with Booker T in the ring. He has some business tonight. He says that the fans have watched his career for years. You know if Booker T has some business to take care of, he will take care of it in the ring. Or he will take to the back, the street, or even take it to a supermarket (That bit at the supermarket when Austin attacked him back in 01-02 was terrible by the way). He knows what it means to be in a highly contested feud as a superstar. But now he is the Smackdown GM and it is his responsibility to give the fans a great show every week. This brings him to his next point. Big Show & Sheamus. Right now it’s personal with those 2 and when things get personal it can sometimes get physical (This is supposed to be wrestling so why wouldn’t it?). Tonight Booker has to make a drastic decision but before that drastic action he wants the fans to see why he has to make this tough decision. They reshow the Sheamus-Big Show parking lot brawl from last month. Then they replay Sheamus attacking Big Show with a chair at Survivor Series. Then Booker says that in 9 days Big Show & Sheamus will go 1 on 1 in a chairs match for the World Title at TLC. Booker’s afraid that’s not gonna happen. He’s afraid that 1 guy will do something to the other. So tonight he has made a stipulation. Booker has added a no contact clause before TLC effective immediately. Normally he would go in the back & speak with both guys but tonight he wants to bring Sheamus & Big Show out t the ring and sign the contract to make it official. Then out comes Big Show. Then Sheamus. Booker tells Sheamus that if he wants to go ahead and disobey his no contact clause he can go right ahead. But if he does he will lose his title shot at TLC. Big Show has a grin on his face. Booker tells him that he doesn’t know what he’s smiling about. He knows Big Show has his iron clad contract (In the storyline does he still have that since it was Johnny Ace who gave it to him? Wouldn’t he have lost that when Johnny was canned as GM?) Booker then tells Bog Show that if he wants to disobey the clause too then he will be stripped of the World Title. He tells them, “Let’s get down to business.” Then he asks Sheamus to sign the contract. Sheamus looks over the contract. Then he gets the mic & tells Show that having to wait 9 more days to kick Big Show’s “arse” is like having to wait 9 days for Christmas. He used to hate having to wait to open in presents but at the end it was actually worth it. In 9 days Sheamus’ Christmas comes early. The gift of beating Big Show from head to toe with a steel chair. In the end Sheamus guarantees that he will get the ultimate present. The World Title. Sheamus signs the contract. Then Big Show reads over the contract. Booker tells that it’s legal. Big Show says that Christmas for Sheamus has really come early. The purpose of this contract is to make sure that Sheamus makes in to TLC in one piece. Show says that’s a Christmas present for Sheamus, but Sheamus better be careful what he wishes for. Show says that Sheamus hit him with the steel chair at Survivor Series 25-30 times (They keep saying it was 31 times) and Big Show still got up. What will happen when a 7 foot 5oo pound giant swings a steel chair and destroys that Irish skin of Sheamus’? Big Show only has to hit Sheamus once. The worst in the world that Sheamus can do is ask for a chair’s match against Big Show at TLC. Sheamus should ask Booker to get him out of the match. But Sheamus is too stupid to realize what he’s doing to himself. If Big Show hits him with a chair he will change Sheamus forever. Sheamus will never be the same. Big Show will happily end his career at TLC. Show says that the difference between him & Sheamus is that Show thinks things through. He has experience Sheamus is just vinegar and fire. That Irish temper gets to Sheamus and he wants to fight. Show mocks Sheamus by saying, “Let’s go fight fella.” Sheamus asks Show if he realizes how ridiculous he looks right now. Show talks about a fight. All Sheamus has wanted to do since he came to WWE was to fight and the last to pay per views when they faced each other, Big Show has to admit that those have been the greatest fights of his career. Sheamus says that he made Big Shoe relevant again but he doesn’t believe that Big Show has 1 more left in him, and he believes that down in that big belly of Big Show’s he is shaking. Sheamus says that Big Show knows this chairs match could be the end of him. Sheamus says that he will gladly end Big Show’s career at TLC. Then Big Show topples the table over. Then he signs the contract. Sheamus gets up and wants to fight but Booker stops him as Big Show taunts Sheamus. Sheamus wants to get his hands on Big Show. Booker tells him not to do it. Then Booker tells Sheamus that if he wants to take his frustrations out on somebody, Booker has somebody for him to do that with. Tonight Sheamus will face Alberto Del Rio. Booker tells Sheamus to take his frustrations out on Del Rio. He doesn’t know what Big Show is laughing about because he will be in a match too. Big Show will face the guy that beat him in 45 seconds, Daniel Bryan. That match is next. Then out comes Daniel Bryan and Sheamus & Booker head to the back. This was a bit long. I don’t know why they have these contract signings for WWE and World Title matches. They’re always meaningless and this time the contract wasn’t even to make the match official. It was to make sure Sheamus & Show wouldn’t attack each other before TLC. I thought Sheamus & Big Show were good with their promos but the segment was needed.

WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan vs. World Champion Big Show. Show gets the pin. This was a solid match. Afterwards The Shield hops over the guard rail. They stand at ringside. Big Show exits the ring as they come in. Then they circle around Daniel and then attack him. Kane makes the save but The Shield get the upper hand. Then they triple powerbomb Kane through the announce table. This was solid. I liked that they had The Shield get their heat back on Kane & Daniel.

Damien Sandow is in the ring. He asks for music to be silenced because he is about to speak. As the intellectual savior he has attempted to raise the cerebral bar in WWE for far too long. This attempt has proven itself to be a fruitless endeavor. However, he is going to give a fan the opportunity to become his apprentice this evening. Who amongst the fans is worthy of such an esteemed position? The fans make noise and Sandow tells them to settle down because they’re acting like ignoramuses. He says this gets worse every week (that was funny). He looks over the crowed and he picks a guy wearing a Santino Marella shirt. As always he urges that the fans pay very close attention and test themselves because next time it might be 1 of them. Sandow tells the “fan” to hurry up. The guy gets in the ring & Sandow tells him that he has the opportunity of becoming his apprentice. He tells the guy not to stand too close to him. Then he tells the guy that all he has to do is answer 3 questions correctly. First question – 5 + 5 =? The guy says 10. Sandow congratulates him for passing math. Second question – Who is the current President of the United States? The guy says Barrack Obama. Then the guy looks for a high 5 from Sandow but Sandow tell the guy that his palms are very sweaty and tells him to put his hands by his side. Third question – What 17th century’s depicting mortality and transience? The guy has no idea. Sandow is not surprised. He asks the fans if any of them know. The answer is Venetace. Then he tells the guy that he has disgraced himself & everyone in the building. The beard on his face is a disgrace to faces everywhere. He tells the guy that he loses. The fans boo & Sandow tells them to wait. Then he says, “You’re welcome.”  Then out comes The Miz. Sandow asks Miz if he can help him. Miz says how about Sandow answers him a question. What 21st century WWE super star wears his dad’s bathrobe and buys his pink trunks from Victoria Secret? (That was corny). Sandow scowls & Miz says that the answer is Damien Sandow. Then Miz tells Sandow, “You’re welcome.” This was decent. Sandow was good as usual and the “fan” was kind of funny too. Miz’s part was a bit weak however.

They replay the end of the Cena & Sheamus vs. Dolph & Big Show match, followed by the Vince-Vickie segment where Vince made Vickie book Cena-Dolph in a ladder match for the MITB case at TLC.

Brodus Clay & The Usos vs. 3MB. 3MB win when McIntyre pins Jimmy Uso. This was a decent but short match. McIntyre actually got the win. That hasn’t happened in awhile.

Backstage Matt Striker interviews Wade Barrett. Striker mentions that when Orton was last seen on Monday he was in the ring and The Shield came out. Barrett says that Orton doesn’t need to be concerned about The Shield tonight. Orton needs to be concerned with Barrett. Then he mentions that 1 year ago he threw Orton down the stairs and put him out of action for weeks. Tonight he will put the predator out of his misery. The only thing that Orton needs to be concerned about tonight is Barrett’s bull hammer. Then he points to his elbow. Good promo from Wade Barrett.

Kofi Kingston is on commentary for the Randy Orton-Wade Barrett match.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett. Orton gets the pin after Kofi distracts Barrett. This was a solid match.

Josh Mathews again mentions that Punk is out of the TLC PPV.

Great Khali & Hornswoggle (With Natalya) vs. Primo & Epico (With Rosa Mendes). Khali & Hornswoggle win when Hornswoggle pins Epico. This was a squash. Khali dominated this and then Hornswoggle got the pin. Who’d Primo & Epico piss off to be booked as jobbers for Hornswoggle & Khali? Also how come Khali & Hornswoggle are a team? Because Khali is a giant & Hornswoggle is a midget? Hey Vince, 2 words. NOT FUNNY!

Time for the Raw Rebound. Can they do away with this?

They show the wwe.com article that mentioned Punk will not be at TLC.

They show a video from The Shield. They each say who they are. Ambrose asks what they know about injustice. Rollins says they don’t just know injustice. Reigns says they’ve lived it. Ambrose says that on Monday Punk, who has been champion for more than a year was disrespected with a lie detector test by The Miz. Ambrose welcomes Miz to consequences. Rollins says that Orton took advantage of a young, defenseless Brad Maddox. Rollins welcomes Randy to pay back. Reigns says they shield WWE from injustice. Ambrose brings up Kane & Daniel Bryan & Reigns says that no one says no to The Shield. Ambrose then says that Ryback has been handed success on a silver platter. He’s been handed fame and fortune and has been put on a pedestal and they knocked him off it. They stopped Ryback cold. Then Ambrose welcomes Ryback back to reality. Then Rollins says that they don’t work for anybody. Not Paul Heyman. Not the WWE Champion. They work for each other. Then they each say they’re names again. Then Reigns welcomes everyone to The Shield of justice. Ambrose then says that at the TLC PPV bring tables, bring ladders, and bring chairs. The Shield brings the sword. This was a good video.

Antonio Cesaro is in the ring. He says that as U.S. Champion he has learned so much about America. He will tell us what he has learned about the so called greatest country in the world. He says that America is weak. America used to be a super power and there used to be a thing that was called The American Dream. The belief that anybody can achieve everything. He says that’s a lie. He guarantees that most, actually all of the fans will never amount to anything. People used to pursue the American Dream, now they look like the American Dream. Then a pic of Dusty Rhodes shows up the Tron & they play Dusty’s music. Then he says that the people don’t know the meaning of hard work and sacrifice anymore. When he looks at America today he loses all hope, and the sad thing is the people’s children and grandchildren will be even more pathetic then they are. That is the truth. Cue R-Truth’s music and he comes out. Cesaro says he wasn’t done talking. Truth asks Cesaro if he knows what he needs. The fans chant what. Truth tells them, “Don’t what me. Ok you can what me.” (I have no idea why they’re still doing that bit with him). Then Truth says that Cesaro needs a dose of the truth. Truth realized that Cesaro’s not from around here. Because around here the truth will set you free. When Truth looks across America he sees a lot of good hard working people rising up (back on the streets) in the face of hard times. He sees hard working people busting their butts to the bone trying to make ends meat. He sees hard working people trying to get in where they fit in. He sees hard working people staring trouble right between the eyes. And when the time is right those same good people will kick trouble right in its little Jimmy. Truth says that it sounds like Cesaro is picking a fight with America. Truth tells Cesaro that when you pick a fight with America, America fights back. The fans chant USA. Cesaro tells them to shut up because the U.S. Champion is talking. Then Cesaro tells Truth that he is everything that is wrong with America. He says that Truth talks trash and he can’t back it up. Cesaro then says that Truth is delusional. That has nothing to do with Truth having his imaginary friend. It has everything to do with Truth trying to take his U.S Title and like all Americans, failing miserably. Cesaro says that’s the truth. Truth says that maybe Cesaro doesn’t understand what he is saying. Truth gets in the ring. Then he tells Cesaro that what he’s saying is when you kick his dog, Truth will kick his cat (That made no sense). Then he takes down Cesaro and pounds on him. Cesaro gets up & Truth Irish whips him, but Cesaro grabs the top rope and slides out of the ring. Then Truth puts the U.S. Title in front of himself and dares Cesaro to come in and get it. Cesaro doesn’t bother. This was hokey. R-Truth was usual whacky self and I’m tired of the anti American heel gimmick.

Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio. Sheamus wins by submission. This was a good match. Big Show watched from the stage. Afterwards Big Show gets in the ring and applauds Sheamus. Then he dares Sheamus to hit him in the jaw. They scream at each other for a bit. Then Sheamus pounds his chest. Then he grabs Ricardo and throws him into Big Show. Big Show lies on the mat while Sheamus poses to end the show. This was ok.

I thought this was a solid show overall. The Sheamus-Big Show contract segment was ok for a contract signing. Sheamus-Del Rio was good. I was ok with the post match stuff too. The Shield video was solid. Wade Barrett’s promo was good too. I also liked the Orton-Barrett match also. The Truth-Cesaro segment was pointless. Khali & Hornswoggle vs. Primo & Epico was a pointless squash. Brodus & The Usos vs. 3MB was decent. Damien Sandow was good as usual in the “looking for an apprentice” bit. Daniel Bryan-Big Show was solid too. On the whole I thought this was a solid show this week.

12-6-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 6, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian coming to the ring. Kazarian says what stands before everyone is the best part of the most dominant group in Impact Wrestling. That group was fortune. That’s all in the past. They’re concerned about the future. Roode says everywhere in the world people make guarantees and so does he. The difference is he guarantees become realities. The reality is that he will be World Champion again. He made a very important investment into the title and Jeff will find out that is does indeed pay to be Roode. Daniels guarantees this Sunday the fans will see 1 last match with him & AJ. The winner will be the better man and the loser will be AJ Styles. He has 1 more thing to say to AJ face to face. He asks AJ to come to the ring so they can talk like old friends. Out comes AJ Styles. AJ says he knows Daniels better than Daniels knows himself. Daniels has been jealous of him since day 1. AJ has earned everything he got in TNA. Daniels will always be jealous. AJ says that on Daniels best day he couldn’t beat AJ on AJ’s worst. Daniels says every time he called AJ a loser AJ knew he was right. All of AJ’s loses aren’t because of Daniels. AJ’s worst nightmare, finding out that Daniels is better than him that becomes a reality. AJ says the reality is that Daniels talks too much. Then he punches Daniels but Roode & Kazarian attack AJ. Then Jeff Hardy & James Storm come out to run off the heels. This was a good opening segment. They did a good job in putting over the Jeff-Roode & AJ-Daniels matches.

Austin Aries says he’s pushing Hulk’s buttons because Hulk set him up to fail as World Champion. He says that his plan all along was to become X Division Champion so he can get a World Title match but then Ray had to get involved. He says that Ray made it personal and wants him at Final Resolution and will continue to push Hulk’s buttons till he gets the match. This was a good backstage promo.

TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Devon for the Title. Devon gets the pin to regain the Title. Some chick came on the apron and distracted the referee. Then DOC came in and hit Joe with the hammer. Then Devon covered Joe for the win. Afterwards Devon & DOC celebrated with some Aces & 8s chicks. The match was solid but I was a bit surprised they had Devon win. I was expecting the usual “Aces & 8s storm the ring and the match ends in a no finish bit.”

Brooke Hogan is backstage on her cell phone. She’s talking to someone who is signed, sealed & delivered. Brooke tells her to give her a call when she gets there.

D’Lo Brown & Al Snow are backstage. Al says that he got food poisoning last week and the next thing he knew he was in the hospital and had no idea what was going on. D’Lo says he will get to the bottom of it. Al thanks him for standing in for him last week. I got a feeling D’Lo & Wes Briscoe are part of Aces & 8s.

Mickie James comes to the ring. She thanks the fans for their support and also her friends and family. When she was recovering she thought about her career and says she wasn’t satisfied. But that will change because she will become Knockouts Champion this Sunday. Then out come Tara & Jessie. Mickie says she wasn’t finished. Tara says she had a great year. She dumped Brooke, got her “Hollywood boyfriend” & the TNA Knockouts Title. Cue Velvet Sky’s music and she makes her return. Velvet thanks the fans. Then she thanks Brooke Hogan for taking care of all the necessities to get her back in TNA. She wishes both Mickie & Tara luck at Final Resolution. Then she says that in 2013 she will become Knockouts Champion. Mickie’s promo was good. Tara’s was the same old shtick. It was nice to see Velvet back. She cut a good promo too and the fans popped huge for her return.

Robbie E is backstage having difficulties paying his Direct Auto insurance on an I pad. Rob Terry asks what he’s doing. They have a match. E was trying to pay his insurance but the machine wasn’t working. T tells him that it’s a touch screen device. T presses the screen for him. This was weak.

World Tag Team Champions Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Rob Terry & Robbie E. Hernandez & Chavo win when Chavo pins Robbie E. This was solid. Then Joey Ryan comes out. He tells everyone in 3 days he & Matt Morgan will be tag champs. Then Matt Morgan comes in and clotheslines the champs from behind. Joey says that is what happens when you deal with the Big Morgan & the Big Organ.

2 Aces & 8s chicks are making out or whatever. Devon is with another one. He tells DOC he got back what belongs to him. DOC will get to take care of Kurt Angle. Devon says they need to throw a dart. Then the VP says that he made a deal. Money talks and B.S. walks. Tonight they’ll be doing a lot of talking. So Aces & 8s have a financial backer. These Aces & 8s bits have really been and I thought this 1 was just as lousy. I’m thinking the backer is gonna be either Eric Bischoff or Jeff Jarrett.

Kurt Angle & Wes Briscoe talk about Wes getting the contract. Wes thanks Kurt. Angle says Wes did it on his own & Garrett has been doing well too. Then Angle talks about having to face DOC. Wes & Garrett have Angle’s back.

Hernandez & Chavo are backstage. Chavo says Joey Ryan & Matt Morgan got their attention. They will get their fight this Sunday.

Kurt Angle vs. DOC. Angle wins by DQ when Devon and Aces & 8s come in. They surround the ring. Then out come Wes, Garrett & Samoa Joe and they run Aces & 8s off. Angle says Aces & 8s like to run in packs. Angle has a pack of his own. It will be him, Wes, Garrett & Joe vs. 4 Aces & 8s guys at Final Resolution. This was a good match but I knew Aces & 8s were going to come in. However, I’m not sure why they’re having Angle & Joe team up after the major rivalry they’ve had since Angle came to TNA.

Hulk Hogan is on the phone with Joseph Park. He’s looking over some paper work Park sent him. Hulk says that he wants to talk to Al Snow and if everything works out in OVW then he can return to Impact. Then in comes Bully Ray. Ray says last week he asked Hulk for a match worth Aries but Hulk decided it was better to give it to RVD. Now he’s telling Hulk he wants a match with Aries. Hulk laughs and says the wrestling universe doesn’t revolve around Ray & Aries. So Hulk says no again. Ray says by the end of the night the answer will be yes. He’s taking over tonight’s show. This was weak. These Hulk Hogan segments are always crazy.

Jeff Hardy & James Storm are backstage. Storm says that he has Jeff’s back. Then he mentions how Roode will do anything to win the World Title back. Roode pushed Storm’s buttons and Storm doesn’t want Jeff to fall into the same trap. Then we hear Jeff’s “thoughts”. He says to tell him something that he doesn’t know. He’s not sure if Storm is a cowboy or an outlaw. But when you’re World Champion the whole world is after you. This was ok. Storm was good here but I’m tired of this “Hearing Jeff’s ‘thought’s” idiocy.

Kenny King vs. Kid Kash vs. Zima Ion for an X Division Title match. Kenny wins when he pins Ion. This was a really good match.

Bully Ray is on his cell phone. He tells whoever it is that Hulk said no about a match with Aries twice. Ray says he’s going to the ring to get what he wants.

Bully Ray comes to the ring with a chair. He says he mentioned he would take care of business on his own. He’s not going anywhere till he gets what he wants. He wants to fight Aries and Aries wants to fight him and the fans want to see them fight each other. So he’s gonna sit in the chair and isn’t going anywhere till he gets what he wants. Then out comes Austin Aries. He doesn’t believe that Ray wants to fight him. He mentions the last time they fought he made Ray submit. Ray’s pretending he wants to fight because of Brooke. Ray dares him to get in the ring right now. Aries says he will sit by the ramp and take over the show. Cue Hulk’s music and out come the Hulkster. Hulk says he’s gonna fix all the Impact business right now. For 30 years he’s been nothing but business. He tells Ray & Aries that he isn’t gonna let them push him around. He tells Ray to get out of the ring or he will either fire his ass or kick it. Ray gets in Hulk’s face as Aries eggs them on. Then out comes Brooke. She tells her dad to stop. She says maybe “Mark” is right. Maybe Hulk is making it too personal. Hulk says that if they all want this match to happen, then they got it. This was a solid segment. Ray & Aries were both good on the mic as usual. Hulk was ok here too. Brooke, not so much, but I knew they would make the Ray-Aries match “official” for Sunday.

Time for a bobby Roode video package. He talks about being the longest reigning World Champion in TNA history. It’s been 5 months since he’s been Champion.

World Champion Jeff Hardy, James Storm & AJ Styles vs. Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian. Jeff, Storm & AJ win when Jeff pins Kazarian. This was a good match too. Afterwards Aces & 8s come out and beat down Jeff. Then Storm comes in the ring with a chair and runs them off. Than Roode applauds Aces & 8s and gives Aces & 8s the thumbs up. So he is the guy that paid them. Then he says to the camera that it pays to be Roode. That ends the show.

I thought this was a good show overall. They did a good job building to this Sunday’s Final Resolution. The AJ-Daniels-Kazarian segment that started the show was good and the 6 man tag at the end was good too. I liked that Roode was the guy that paid Aces & 8s too. Kenny-Ion-Kash was really good. That was my favorite part of the show. The Ray-Aries-Hulk-Brooke segment was solid. I liked both Ray’s & Aries’ promos. I was ok with Hulk here too. Brooke calling Ray by his real name was very Russo like. Angle-DOC was good and I knew the rest of Aces & 8s would come in. I don’t know why they’re having Angle & Joe team up at the PPV for the 8 man tag. I also feel a Wes Briscoe turn coming in that match. Possibly Garrett too. Joe-Devon was solid and I was kinda surprised they had Devon win. Hernandez & Chavo vs. Robbie E & Rob Terry was ok too. I liked the Knockouts segment too. It was nice to see Velvet back in TNA. On the whole I thought this was a good show and they did a good job building to Final Resolution.

12-3-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the December 3, 2012 episode of Raw

The show starts with WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan coming out for a match. The Shield is watching from the sky box. Kane says the Shield is real tough way up there. They claim to fight against injustice. Why don’t they come to the ring right now and Kane & Daniel will give them something to fight about. Then out come The Primetime Players. This was decent.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan vs. The Primetime Players. Kane & Daniel win when Daniel pins Darren. During the match Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns walked to the lower levels. Rollins wasn’t there. After the match Reigns & Ambrose attack Kane while Daniel is ambushed by Rollins & Daniel. Reigns & Ambrose trap Kane’s arm against the steel steps. Then they give Daniel the triple power bomb. This was more about The Shield coming in than the match but I thought this was decent. They’re continuing to get The Shield over.

Sheamus thanks Cena for being on Smackdown. Cena said it was a win-win for him because he got to beat up Dolph. Cena mentions Big Show breaking the chair last week. Tonight they have a tag match with Dolph & Show and the need to focus on the match. Sheamus says what he will do later translates into any language. This was weak. They have Cena & Sheamus being the usual hokey baby faces making stupid jokes and then Cena says they need to be focused? Also the “combine 2 PPV matches into a tag match” is very predictable.

AJ Lee vs. Tamina Snuka. AJ gets the pin. This was ok. Tamina dominated here and then AJ got the roll up for the win.

CM Punk & Paul Heyman come to the ring. Break time. Back from break. Heyman says that he was leaving home to fly to Greensboro and he noticed that his kids were reading the WWE Encyclopedia. Heyman’s not out here to plug the book. He doesn’t like it because there isn’t enough info about Punk in it. There was something in there that he & Punk had too busy to notice. Today is day 379 for Punk as WWE Champion. Heyman says tonight at midnight Punk will tie and tomorrow night at midnight Punk will surpass Cena as longest reigning champion of the modern era. Punk is the longest WWE Champion of the past 25 years, which means the fans will have to agree with him when he says that there is no argument against the fact that Punk should be on Mt. Rushmore. Punk says he stands before the fans unfairly persecuted. He has proven for 1 year that he is the best in the world. That isn’t a slogan, it’s a fact. If there was a WWE Mt. Rushmore his face would be over Hogan’s, Taker’s Austin’s & Cena’s. He beat Ryback at hell in a cell. He beat Ryback & Cena at Survivor Series. He asks why he has to defend his title in a TLC match against Ryback. It’s because of all the fans that turned their backs on him and ignored his accomplishments. People who can’t hold onto a job for a year or have a long lasting marriage. Punk says first it was Heyman, then it was Maddox and now it’s The Shield. He says it’s a lie that if it weren’t for The Shield he wouldn’t be champion. Punk says if it weren’t for him no one would be here now. He is the reason the fans bought tickets to be at Raw. If it weren’t for Punk the fans wouldn’t have anything to look forward to on these dismal 3 hour episodes of Raw (They have been terrible). He had nothing to do Maddox or The Shield but he has everything to do with being the hottest thing in WWE today. If the fans can’t accept that they can change the channel or leave the arena. Then out comes The Miz. He tells the fans to enjoy themselves. Miz says no one believes Punk. Miz says that Punk talks about all these lies but everyone knows the truth. Punk asks Miz who he thinks he is to cast judgment on him. Miz is the guy who took short cuts when he was champion but he can admit it. Everyone knows Maddox was in Punk’s pocket. Everyone knows The Shield helped him at Survivor Series. If it weren’t for The Shield coming out last week Ryback would have fed himself some Punk. Miz says they can fight or wrestle anytime. Tonight he wants Punk to be on Miz TV so that he can take a lie detector test. Heyman wants to make sure that he follows what Miz is saying. Then Heyman reminds Miz about how Punk feels about him behind the scenes. Heyman says that Miz wants to subject Punk to his 3 ring circus. Miz calls Heyman a walrus and then the fans chant that. Punk says he isn’t going to stand for that. Miz apologizes that Heyman is a really big walrus. Miz wants Punk with a live mic on Miz TV and to bring his best pipe bomb. Miz says he’s giving Punk a chance to clear his name and show that he is the best in the world. Unless Punk is afraid of the truth and would rather have an asterisk next to everything he’s done, including 379 days as WWE Champion. Punk says he will take Miz’s stupid test. Punk will prove that he is the best in the world and everyone will have to admit it. This was a solid segment, but a lie detector test? Really (as Miz would say)? I thought all 3 guys were really good on the mic here. There was a lot said here and was very hard to catch up with.

John Cena & Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler & World Champion Big Show. Cena & Sheamus win when Cena pins Dolph. This was solid but they had the face beat the heels cleanly again! Cena gave Dolph the AA at the same time Sheamus gave Big Show the White Noise. Then Cena pinned Dolph. Super Cena wins again.

Damien Sandow comes out. He says for what has felt like an eternity he has attempted to help all the fans. An attempt that has been futile but he will not abandon the fans. Tonight he has decided to give a fan a chance to become his apprentice. Her looks over the crowed and picks a “fan” with a Little Jimmy Shirt. Sandow tells the guy to hurry because he’s already losing points. The “fan” gets in the ring. Sandow tells him he has to answer 3 questions. First, H20 is the chemical composition of what? The fan answers water. Second, who was the first U.S. President? The guy says George Washington. The third was a quote from English poetry. The fan doesn’t know. Sandow then tells him that ignorance is curable but stupid is forever. Then he tells the guy that he should be exiled from the country. “You’re Welcome.” Then out comes Santino Marella. Santino says he’s going ask a question for Sandow. How many seashells does she sell by the shore? Sandow rags on Santino. Then he says what the most common type of shell would be. Santino says Sandow’s wrong. The answer is the conch shell. Then Sandow punches Santino. Santino retaliates and Sandow retreats. It looks like Santino will face Sandow next. This was a mixed bag. Sandow was really good here as usual. I wasn’t into Santino’s part of this. Him having difficulty getting that tongue twister out was lame.

Santino Marella vs. Damien Sandow. Sandow gets the pin. This was alright.

Dolph & Vickie are backstage. Dolph says Show is the worst tag team partner ever. Dolph says he can beat Cena and look good in the process. Dolph says that he is a star. Vickie is starting to lose faith in Dolph. He asks Vickie to give him a rematch with Cena at TLC. She grants him the match & Dolph thanks her. Then Dolph goes to kiss Vickie but Vickie stopped him and looked to make sure no one was watching (even though there is a camera right there)! Then Vickie goes into her office. It’s Brad Maddox. Vickie asks what he’s doing there. He’s there to make sure no one forgets his name. They also had a guy filming him. This was idiotic! They’ve made Dolph look like a real loser and I found the bit with Maddox being filmed insulting because they showed a guy filming him! Having Vickie looking around when Dolph went to plant one on her was just as insulting!

Back to the show and Vickie asks Maddox why she should give him a contract. Maddox says that Punk had nothing to do with what happened at the cell PPV. He says she is one of the most influential and powerful women in WWE history and she’s proven that with her eye for talent and entertainment. Maddox says if you put him on TV then TV goes from being good to being great. Vickie gives him a match. If he wins he will get a contract. Maddox asks who he will be facing. Vickie says he will find out later and she tells him that it will be great. He knows it will be because he will be on TV. This sucked! They’re having Maddox wrestle for a contract again? That’s the same crappy bit as when he faced Ryback.

Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This was a really good match.

Vince McMahon is backstage. He tells some guy to tell Vickie that he’d like to talk to her in the ring now. The guy says ok. Vince asks him to respond again. The guy says yes sir. This was weak. This next in ring segment is going to be painful!

Vickie Guerrero comes to the ring for her yapping segment with Vince. She asks everyone to welcome the chairman, Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Vinnie Mac power walks to the ring. She says Vince looks handsome. She has the best match for TLC. Cena vs. Dolph. If she wants to make it epic they should have a big stip in there. She says a No DQ match. Vince tells her to try harder. This is tables ladders and chair not the no DQ PPV (even though the gimmick matches are NO DQ anyway). Then Vickie says a ladder match. She says that seems impossible because neither guy is a champion. Vince then says that the match will be for the MITB briefcase (I was so afraid they were going to do this)! Vickie says that Cena could gain everything and Dolph could lose everything. Vickie says it’s not fair. Vince says what she & Dolph have been doing to Cena & AJ is unfair. He tells Vickie to make the match official and she does. Vickie yaps some more but Vince cuts her off. Then he brings up the lie detector segment. What if Punk is lying about everything he said? Vince says Punk should be punished and no one likes a liar (He really said that). Vickie says that if Punk is guilty then next week there will be a Ryback vs. Paul Heyman match. This was just as painful as I knew it would be! I had a terrifying feeling they would have Cena-Dolph for the MITB case. I really hope they don’t have Cena win! Vince ragged on Heyman because that what he likes to do and his “no one likes a liar” line was idiotic too.

Time for Brad Maddox’s match. He will be facing Randy Orton.

Randy Orton vs. Brad Maddox. Orton gets the pin. This was a squash. Afterwards The Shield comes out and they pound on Orton. Then they give him the triple power bomb. I’m hoping Maddox having a match for a contract and then getting creamed isn’t going to be a recurring bit. I liked The Shield attacking Orton though. I’m hoping they have them go after Cena next. That would get them over huge.

Vickie Guerrero is screaming at Charles Robinson. Then Dolph comes in and complains about having to defend the MITB case at TLC. Then he brings up when AJ made him defend the case against Jericho. Vickie says Vince was standing right there. Dolph says that is becoming like AJ and then he walks off. Then in comes Paul Heyman. He & Vickie intently stare at each other. Vickie hopes for Heyman’s sake, he better hope that Punk is telling the truth. Then in comes Cena. Cena says she made a great match. He thanks Vickie. Cena says he is the only guy to cash in the MITB case & not win the title. When he wins this case, he will cash in and become champion. Vickie says that AJ’s locker was being cleaned out and they found bow ties with Cena’s pic on them. Cena says Vickie can’t leave well enough alone. Vickie says history keeps repeating itself. This was terrible too. Cena of course was his usual hokey cartoon self and the Vickie character is getting stale. I’m tired of this Cena-AJ crap. Whatever they do, please don’t have Cena win the MITB case!!

Next was supposed to be Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro & Wade Barrett. Then out comes Teddy Long. He says since Vickie is having problems and since Booker T isn’t there and since Vince is looking to spice things up this match will be a fatal 4 way match for either the Intercontinental or U.S. Title. That will be decided by the fans votes. Turning the tag match into a 4 way was predictable and didn’t really spice up anything. This match should be solid though.

Time to find which secondary title will be defended. It will be the U.S. Title.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro for the U.S. Title. Cesaro wins when he pins Kofi. This was a really good match too.

Time for Miz TV. Miz welcomes everyone. He has some guy there from the Sheriff’s department. Miz talks about Punk denying having anything to do with Maddox or The Shield. Tonight we will get answers through a lie detector test. Miz asks everyone to welcome CM Punk. Out come Punk & Heyman. Miz welcomes Punk to Miz TV. Miz says the lie detector test is simple by nature. Punk says he knows how it works. He says Miz is just like everyone else. Miz’s title reign so he’s trying to bring Punk down to his level. Punk says everyone wishes they could be him. Miz says he wasn’t paying attention. Punk says Miz wasn’t paying attention in wrestling school either. Miz says if Punk’s caught lying Heyman will have to face Ryback. Miz asks Punk what his name is. Punk says his name. Has Punk been champion for 379 days? Yep. Did Rey Mysterio shave his head bald? Punk reluctantly says yes. The year Miz main evented WrestleMania did Punk lose to Orton? Punk says he doesn’t have to deal with. Miz tells him to answer it. Punk says yes, but Miz won because Rock attacked Cena. Punk says everyone wishes they could forget Miz main evented WrestleMania. Miz then asks Punk if he thinks he can beat Ryback by himself. Punk says yes. The detector on the Tron shows that might not be true. Punk says that’s an opinion. Miz asks if Punk worked with Maddox & The Shield to win at the last 2 PPVs. Then out comes The Shield and the go after Miz. Then they destroy the Miz TV set. Then they continue to pound on Miz. Then they give Miz the triple power bomb. Then Kane & Daniel Bryan hit the ring and they go after The Shield. The Shield gets the upper hand. Cue feed me more and out comes Ryback. He cleans house on The Shield. Then Ryback throws Ambrose over the guardrail and pounds on him. Kane & Daniel brawl with Rollins & Reigns. Kane & Reigns brawl into the crowed too. Then Punk stomps on Miz and kicks him out of the ring. Punk poses and then Ryback comes back in and gives Punk Shell Shock. Then Ryback gets a chair from under the ring. Then he gets a ladder. Ryback hits Punk with the ladder. Then he picks up the chair and hit Punk in the back. Then Ryback gets a table out from under the ring. Ryback sets the table up in the ring and power bombs Punk through it. Then Ryback has his foot on Punk’s chest and does the feed me more chant. Ryback leads the fans in the feed me more chant to end the show. This was a mixed bag segment. I wasn’t into the lie detector part of this. I also thought it was too soon to have The Shield get neutralized. I was ok with Ryback pounding on Punk.

I wasn’t into this week’s show too much. The opening with The Shield watching from the sky box was decent. Kane & Daniel Bryan vs. The Primetime Players was ok too. I liked The Shield attacking the tag champs. The Miz TV segment was mediocre at best. Punk was great on the mic as usual but I thought it was too soon for The Shield to get beaten. The Miz-Punk segment from earlier in the show was good. Both guys were good on the mic. Sin Cara-Del Rio & the 4 Way for U.S. Title were both really good. Orton-Maddox was a squash. I’m hoping this doesn’t become a regular bit for Maddox. The Vince-Vickie segment was terrible. So were all the other Vickie segments. I had a bad feeling they’d book Cena-Dolph for the MITB case at TLC! I really hope they have Dolph win! He could really use a win over Super Cena. Cena & Sheamus vs. Dolph & Big Show was alright too but of course the baby faces had to win. Overall I thought this was a lousy show.
