7-30-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 30, 2012 episode of Raw

The show starts with Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler talking about how a fire broke out after the pyro was being tested. Thankfully no one was injured and the fans are coming in now.

Then they show a video package recapping last week’s 1000th episode.

Back to the arena and CM Punk comes to the ring. He says that he had a Raw moment last week that was bigger than most WrestleMania moments. He says that he was uncomfortable the way Raw 1000 ended, which was with Jerry Lawler saying, “CM Punk has turned his back on the WWE Universe.” Punk sits on the announce table. He asks Lawler how he jumped to that conclusion. Punk says that Lawler turned his back on him and that The Rock isn’t the WWE Universe. The Rock is one man. A larger than life delusional movie star who showed Punk a lack of respect. He says that Rock interrupted him which no one should do. Then he says that when he was ragging on Daniel Bryan he acted like Punk wasn’t there. Then he mentions Rock getting a title match at the Rumble. Punk says that he showed the same respect for Rock that Rock showed him. Then he says that Dwayne tried to make last week’s show all about him. Then he says that he showed Rock what kind of a man he’s dealing with. He says that he is WWE Champion. Punk then says that we haven’t heard from Rock, which ironic because when Rock was feuding with Cena no one could shut him up. Then Punk says that Raw ended the way Raw should end every week with the spot light focused on the WWE Champion and the best wrestler in the world. Then Big Show comes out. Punk says that Show came out to steal the spot light too. Show says that at the end of last week’s Raw the focus was on Punk but it was more about him because he is the guy who cost Cena the title. He says that Punk is supposedly the best in the world. He says that he knockout Cena and Punk still couldn’t beat him. Then Show says that Punk wouldn’t be champion if it weren’t for him. Then Show says that he vows to be the next WWE Champion. Punk says that Show couldn’t beat Cena at No Way Out and couldn’t win the MITB Case. Punk he’s the only one doing any winning. Then Cena storms to the ring and goes right after Show. Show pushes Cena away and then he rolls out of the ring. Then Justin Roberts introduces the new Raw GM AJ Lee. AJ comes out and announces Cena vs. Big Show for tonight’s main event and the winner of that match will challenge Punk at SummerSlam for the WWE Title. This was a really good opening segment. Punk cut a tremendous promo as usual. Big Show’s promo was good too. Thank God Cena came to the ring and went right for Show and never spoke. Even AJ coming in was alright. She didn’t cut a long winded promo. She just announced the main event.

Daniel Bryan is backstage standing outside the GM door. He doesn’t go in.

U.S. Champion Santino Marella vs. Alberto Del Rio. Alberto wins by submission. This was a solid match. No surprise that Del Rio won. Afterwards Del Rio gets the mic and says that he just destroyed the U.S. Champion like nothing. He says that both Santino & Sheamus are beneath him and so are all the fans. He says starting today he will not compete till SummerSlam. Decent promo.

They show Daniel Bryan still standing outside the GM door. He goes to knock but he doesn’t.

Back to the show and Brodus Clay is in the ring doing his shtick. Then Vickie Guerrero comes out and says what they’re doing is a disgrace. Then she says that she will show how it’s done. Then Vickie dances. Then Damien Sandow’s music hits and he comes out. He says that last week a horrible crime was perpetrated against all of humanity. Then he asks for the footage to be played. The reshow DX beating down Sandow from last week. Then Sandow goes after Brodus. This was a mixed bag segment. Vickie dancing was idiotic. Sandow’s promo and attack on Brodus was good.

They show the promo from 2 weeks ago when Dolph said Jericho is losing his touch. Then they show Jericho throwing Dolph into the ring during Dolph’s match with Sheamus from Smackdown.

They announce Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler & The Miz for tonight.

Daniel Bryan finally goes into AJ’s office. He says that she left him at the alter for a power suit. She tells him to shut and says that she is her boss. Then she mentions the guys that were in the white coats from last week. She says they looked like orderlies from the nut house and that Daniel was ready to have her committed. Daniel says he was committed to marrying her. He says they were friends of his and that were in white because he was. Then AJ says that tonight Daniel will face Sheamus. He asks if it’s for the title and AJ chants no. This was decent and short segment.

They recap the Triple H-Stephanie-Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar segment from last week.

Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler mention that the fans can pick the stip for the Sheamus-Daniel match. The choices are no holds barred, falls count anywhere and street fight. These are all the same kind of match.

Josh Mathews asks Sheamus which type of match he prefers. He says it doesn’t matter and he likes that AJ is letting the fans decide.

They show the fire from the pyro incident.

Daniel Bryan comes to the ring. He says he wants the fans to stop chanting yes. He says that only he can chant yes and the fans have no right to. The fans chant yes and he chants no. Then Sheamus comes out.

Then Jerry Lawler gets the mic and it’s time to find out what the fans voted for. They picked street fight.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan in a street fight. Sheamus gets the pin. This was great match. They brawled on the stage and around ringside. They used a Kendo stick and a chair. Towards the end the steel steps were brought into the ring. Sheamus eventually gave Daniel the Brogue Kick and Daniel fell back first on to the steps. Then Sheamus pinned him for the win.

Back to the show and Daniel Bryan is lying on the mat. Referees are in the ring with him. He says he hurt his neck and he isn’t leaving the ring till he gets a doctor. Then Kofi Kingston & R-Truth come out. Kofi says that he knows Daniel has been having a bad few weeks but there’s no need to take it out on the fans. Kofi tells him to get out of there. Truth says Daniels needs to split because he, Kofi & “Little Jimmy” got business to settle. Then Daniel Bryan “speaks to Little Jimmy”. Then he “kicks him.” Truth goes to the outside. Daniel tells Truth that “Little Jimmy” isn’t real and that Truth is nuts. Then the guys in the white coats come out. Then AJ comes out and says that Daniel has been mentally unstable and needs to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Then the guys and white escort Daniel up the ramp and Daniel stares at AJ. This was a weak bit. I’m tired of “Little Jimmy.” The whole bit with the guys in the white outfits and AJ saying that Daniel needs a psychiatric evaluation was kinda weird too.

Back to the show and R-Truth “has Little Jimmy take a seat”. Kofi is in the ring for the next match.

Time for TOUTS from fans about the CM Punk heal turn.

Then they announce that the fans can TOUT who they think is more unstable, Daniel Bryan or AJ.

AW comes out and introduces The Primetime Players.

WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Titus O’Neil. Titus gets the pin. Darren Young got on the apron but Truth clotheslined him. Then AW tossed his shoe at Kofi. Then Kofi threw it back at him. Then Titus hit Clash of the Titus for the pin. This was a decent but short match.

CM Punk & John Cena are backstage. Punk tells Cena to re watch the last week’s Title match. He says that he might have taken advantage of Big Show coming in but with the WWE Title on the line anything would have been done. Punk then says that there are people who are saying that he should’ve stopped Big Show last week. Punk says he respects Cena but doesn’t wish him or Show luck because he doesn’t care who wins. Then Punk says that Cena’s upset because in one night Punk did to Rock what Cena couldn’t do in a year. This was a good backstage segment.

They reshow Heath Slater getting clobbered by the legends last week.

Heath Slater is in the ring. He says now that the legends finally went back to the retirement home he can get his career back on track. Then he challenges any current super star to out and lose to the one man band. Cue Randy Orton’s music and he returns.

Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater. Orton gets the pin. This was a squash.

Daniel Bryan is backstage saying that his neck hurts. He doesn’t want to answer any of these stupid questions. The guy asks his name, where he’s from, if he is a former World Champion, if he’s a vegan and if he & AJ didn’t get married last week. Then Daniel screams yes over and over. This was idiotic. What are they doing with Daniel Bryan here? Why are they booking him to be out of his mind!?

Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler & Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Jericho & Christian win when Jericho pins Miz. This was a good match. Afterwards Dolph hits Jericho in the back of the head with the MITB case.

Back to Daniel Bryan being given his evaluation. This time the guy shows him ink blots. One looks like a “goat face”. Daniel flips out and says that he’s not a goat face or an oompa loompa. He is the greatest of all time (goat.) then asks if Charlie Sheen has anything to do with this. Then Daniel says if Charlie’s there, Daniel is winning. This was idiotic.

Time to find out who the fans feel are more unstable, Daniel or AJ. More TOUTS from fans and most say AJ.

Tyson Kidd vs. Tensai. Tyson Kidd wins by reverse decision DQ. This was decent but short. Tensai got the pin but then afterwards Tensai continues beating down Tyson Kidd. Then Tensai gives him a back breaker. Then the referee reversed the decision and Tyson got the DQ win. Then Tensai takes out Sakamoto AGAIN!

Back to Daniel Bryan. The guy says he’s bitter, short tempered and is obsessed with Charlie Sheen. Then the doctor says that Daniel is 100% sane. Then the red lights come on and Kane comes in. He’s Daniel’s anger management therapist. Then he beats him down.

They recap the Triple H-Stephanie-Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar segment from last week again. Why are they showing this twice?

CM Punk comes out for commentary.

John Cena vs. Big Show to determine the number one contender for the WWE Title. The match was a no finish. Big Show threw Cena into Punk during the match. Then Show was going for the knockout punch but Cena got Show up on his shoulders. He was going for the AA but Punk came in the ring and hit Cena from behind. Then the referee called for the bell. So technically Cena won by DQ. Then Punk gave Big Show a round house kick. Then Punk gets his belt and the mic and says that neither guy won and that they’re both losers. Punk walks up the ramp and to the back. As he does AJ comes out. She says that both Cena & Show are both winners. Then AJ says that Punk will defend the title against Big Show & John Cena in a triple threat match. I called it. Then Punk comes back out and says she can’t do this to him, he’s the champion. AJ says she’s the GM. Punk tells her to show him respect. The match was good. I knew the match would end with no finish and then AJ would come and announce the 3 way.

This week’s show was better than I expected it to be so that’s a plus. I thought the opening segment was a good way to kick off the show and the Cena-Show match was good too. I called the outcome of it before it happened but I thought it was a good match. The Daniel Bryan stuff was idiotic! I don’t get what they’re doing with him. I’m really hoping to God they aren’t going to have him face Charlie Sheen at SummerSlam! Jericho & Christian vs. Dolph & Miz was a good match too. I also liked the
Sheamus-Daniel Bryan street
fight. The bit with R-Truth and “Little Jimmy” was overboard in the whacky department. Kofi-Titus was decent but short and so was Santino-Del Rio. Randy Orton-Heath Slater was a squash. What will they do with Orton? I don’t know if they’ll have him be in the title picture again. I’m also curious what they’ll do with Heath Slater now that the weekly bits of him getting squashed by the legends looks to be done. Tyson-Tensai was also a decent but short match. The Brodus-Vickie-Sandow bit was hit and miss. Vickie dancing was idiotic but Sandow going after Brodus was good. Overall I thought this was a good show this week.

7-27-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 27, 2012 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with the new Intercontinental Champion The Miz coming to the ring. He says that the fans are looking at the new face of the Intercontinental Title. He then thanks Christian’s peeps because they were the ones who voted for him to defend his title and Christian lost. He says that he is the new Intercontinental Champion because he is The Miz and before he could say he’s awesome Christian music hits and he comes out. He says that what’s awesome is that he is asking for his rematch right here tonight in front of all his peeps in Kansas City. Then Christian gets in the ring and the match is now. This was a good and short opening promo. I liked that it was short and that it went right into the match.

Christian vs. Intercontinental Champion The Miz for the Title. Miz gets the pin while holding the tights. This was a really good back and forth match.

Ryback vs. Jinder Mahal. Ryback wins by count out when Jinder walks out. This was a decent but short match. Mahal got a good amount of offense in before Ryback made the come back.

Daniel Bryan is backstage. Sheamus comes in and asks Danny boy how’s it goin fella. Daniel asks him what he wants. Sheamus says that he knows Daniel is getting ready for his fatal 4 way match later tonight. Then Sheamus says that he knows that Daniel has had a really rough week with AJ leaving him at the Alter and her becoming his new boss. Then Sheamus mentions that Daniel got Rock Bottomed by The Rock and then was called out by Charlie Sheen. Daniel says he’s not done with AJ and The Rock won’t be back for another 6 months. Then he says who cares about Charlie Sheen? I agree with that. Sheamus has a gift for Daniel that was supposed to be for his wedding night. He tells Daniel that maybe one day it will come in handy. Then he gives him the box and walks out. Daniel opens the box and it’s a pic of something. Then Daniel asks if Sheamus thinks this is funny. Daniel walks off and they zoom in on the pic. It looked like it was a pic of Sheamus beating on Daniel. This was a solid segment.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes. Sheamus gets the pin. Dolph Ziggler came out to watch, hinting that he was goin to cash in his Money in the Bank case. Sheamus hits Cody with the Brogue Kick for the pin. This was a good match. Afterwards Dolph gets on the ring apron and thinks about cashing in the Money in the Bank case. Dolph decides not right now. Then as Dolph was walking out Chris Jericho came out wearing Dolph’s t-shirt and threw Dolph in the ring. Then Sheamus gave Dolph a Brogue Kick. Then Jericho gets on the apron and Sheamus walks out to his theme music. Then Jericho gets in the ring and waits for Dolph to get up. Then he gives Dolph a Code Breaker. Then Jericho takes Dolph’s shirt off and throws it on him while Vickie flips out. SO Jericho is a face now and they buried Dolph AGAIN!? Why to they always have him get flattened?

U.S. Champion Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro gets the pin. This was a decent but short match.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Damien Sandow. Sandow gets the pin. This was a squash. Afterwards Sandow gets the mic. He says, “For all of you repulsive, roughen, retches that enjoyed what happened to me last Monday night at the hands of those unruly degenerates I say this to you. I am your Martyr. You’re welcome.” This was the usual entertaining promo we get from Sandow.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio to determine the number one contender for the World Title. Del Rio wins when he pins Daniel. This was a really good match too. Mysterio hit the 619 on both Daniel & Del Rio. Then Mysterio went to the top rope and splashed Daniel. Then Ray covered Daniel but Ricardo yanked Rey out of the ring at 2. Then Alberto covered Daniel for the win. Alberto & Ricardo celebrate in the ring to end the show.

I thought this was a good show overall. I liked the Christian-Miz segment and their match was good too. I also liked the Fatal 4 Way main event. It looks like we’ll be getting Sheamus vs. Alberto for SummerSlam. Sheamus & Cody had a good match too. The post match attacks on Dolph by Jericho & Sheamus were alright but I don’t know why they feel the need to bury Dolph all the time. Ryback-Jinder & Santino-Cesaro were both decent but short. The backstage bit with Daniel & Sheamus was decent too. Tatsu-Sandow was squash. I thought Sandow’s promo afterwards was good too. Overall I thought this was a good show this week.

7-26-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 26, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Sting coming out. He says that Hulk’s at home with a shattered hip because of the Aces and Eights. He says that Dixie has made Sting the GM while Hulk’s out injured. Then he calls out Aces and Eights. Then Austin Aries comes to the ring. Aries says that Aces and eights are about a numbers game. He says that they jumped the World Champion and that means they’re making a statement. Aries then says that if they show up he will make a statement on them. That’s not a threat, that’ a promise. Then Kurt Angle comes to the ring. He mentions how Aces and eights tried to physically hurt him and take away his shot at the World Title. He says that he wants to fight those SOBs too. Then Bobby Roode comes out. He says he’s not out here to fight anybody or to have their backs. He says that he knows who the guy behind these attacks is. He says that it’s a guy who’s been the World Title picture for almost a year. A guy who’s been pissed off jealous of him and Austin Aries and also a guy that Kurt Angle was supposed to face last week. Then Roode that the guy behind the attacks is James Storm. Roode says he knows the jealousy that Storm has and calls him a piece of crap. James Storm comes out and clotheslines Roode. Then they get in the ring and go at it while Angle, Aries & Sting watch. Roode rolls out of the ring and says the truth hurts. This was a good way to kick off the show.

Tara says she’s known Chavo since the day she first walked into wrestling and says him being in TNA will be awesome. Kid Kash says that he & Chavo have crossed paths in the past and we’ll see if they do in TNA. Kurt Angle says that he had great matches with Eddie Guerrero and also with Chavo. He says that Chavo is a good technician.

Bobby Roode is headed out of the arena and some guy asks him about his accusation on Storm. Roode says that he knows how Storm works but no one wants to listen to him. He says he knows what makes Storm tick and that the truth will come out. Then he takes his bags and is out of there.

Mickie James & Tara vs. Madison Rayne & Gail Kim. Madison & Gail win when Madison pins Mickie. Earl Hebner was the referee. Mickie got a roll up bridge on Madison but Hebner counted Mickie’s shoulders.

Sting is with Austin Aries and he says that he has Aces and Eights on his mind. Then he tells Aries to take the lead and take charge of the X Division and make some cuts. Aries says that he has Aces and Eights on his mind too. This made no sense. Sting was made GM and he just gave the job to Aries?

They show a Sam Shaw video with him saying that he’s waited for this chance and now he’s ready to take it. He says he’s more excited than nervous but he will show everybody what he’s got.

Hernandez says Chavo coming to TNA is incredible. Gunner comments on it too. Bully Ray says he’s just another Guerrero to beat up.

JB is in the ring with Sam Shaw. Shaw will face Doug Williams.

Doug Williams vs. Sam Shaw. Williams gets the pin. This was solid but short match. During the match the have “fans” holding up 87 % signs. Al Snow comes to ringside and Joey Ryan decks him.

Austin Aries is in the office with the X Division guys. He says that he will decide who will face Zima Ion for the X Division Title. Dakota Darsow, Rashad Cameron, Kenny King & Sonjay Dutt all say they should be. Sonjay says the only reason Ion won Ultimate X is because of the hairspray can. There’s a lot of chattering happening. Aries eventually eliminated Rashad from the hunt. There was a lot of talking here and I couldn’t make out everything that was said. My apologies.

They show the Chavo Guerrero video and he will make his TNA debut next.

Chavo Guerrero, Jr. comes to the ring. The fans chant his name. He says that he knows where should’ve been the last few years. He says that he is very humbled to be allowed to be in a TNA ring and he thanks the fans. He then says that there one thing that every Guerrero has done and that is be a Champion in every promotion they’ve been in. Chavo says that he sees hungry talent backstage and sees the eyes of the best. He then says that he is here to beat the best. He tells the fans to remember this date because it’s Guerrero time. It’s time for Chavo to be a Champion in TNA. Kid Kash & Gunner then come out. Kash asks if everyone in the family was a wrestling legend. Kash rags on Chavo and asks him what generation wrestler he is. Then Kash asks where Chavo’s family is. Chavo says the fans are his family. Kash says he’s not looking at these government funded j**k morons in the crowed. He asks Chavo where the rest of his family is. He asks where Mondo & Chavo are. Then he asks if they’re too old or too drunk. Then Chavo goes after Kash but then he & Gunner double team him. Then Hernandez comes out to even the odds. He & Chavo clean house & Kash & Gunner. This was a decent segment. Hernandez & Chavo vs. Kash & Gunner could be a good feud. I thought Chavo cut a good promo in his debut.

Kurt Angle is backstage telling James Storm that Roode is full of crap. He asks Storm about having a connection to Aces and Eights. Storm says that if he has an issue he goes to that person firsthand and isn’t afraid of an ass whipping. Angle is convinced and asks if the Aces and Eights guys show up if Storm will have their backs. Storm says that he will.

Bruce Pritchard, Al Snow & Taz are backstage. Al is flipping out and says that Joey Ryan has his attention. Then they discuss Sam Shaw. Taz says he liked how he looked. Pritchard says he was distracted by Ryan too. Then he puts Shaw over. Taz again says that he thought Shaw looked good.

They air a video package recapping the AJ Styles-Claire-Daniels storyline. Can they please end this!?

They show the BFG Series board. Samoa Joe’s still in the lead.

AJ Styles vs. James Storm in a Bound for Glory Series Match. The match goes to a no finish when the Aces and Eights guys come in and attack AJ. The match was really good but I wasn’t crazy about the no finish. I’m also not into them hinting that James Storm is the guy in charge of this stable.

James Storm walks backstage and Jason Hervey mentions that the Aces and Eights guys never attacked him. Storm grabs him and says that he doesn’t need any assistance kicking someone’s ass and he walks off.

JB, Bruce Pritchard, Al Snow & Taz are in the ring. Sam Shaw comes out. Shaw says that he came up short but they all saw what he can do. He asks them to say yes. Al Snow goes first. He says that because of Joey Ryan he didn’t really get to see Shaw’s match. He says he’d love to say yes but he has to say no. Pritchard’s turn. He says that he got to see Shaw’s match. He votes yes. Time for Shaw to cut the tie breaker promo. Shaw tells Taz he is looking to show the same fortitude Taz showed in 99. Taz says that he loves Shaw’s energy. He tells him that he lost his focused during the match but Taz votes yes. Shaw’s all psyched. This was solid.

Aries is back in the office with Dakota, Sonjay & Kenny King. Each guy says why they should get an X Division Title match. Sonjay says that he would be X Division Champion if it weren’t for his shoulder being dislocated. Kenny says that he has the looks and the talent. Dakota says he’s different and not flashy. Aries says that the X Division is about flashy. He says that Dakota isn’t ready yet. He cuts Dakota from the hunt. Then Aries says that he hopes Dakota’s dad’s Repo business is going well. That was comical. This segment was better than the first.

Time to find out who gets the X Division Title match. Zima Ion comes to the ring.

Aries is backstage with Kenny & Sonjay. Aries says that the doctors aren’t sure about Sonjay’s shoulder so Kenny gets the match.

Kenny King vs. X Division Champion Zima Ion for the Title. Ion gets the pin. Bobby Roode comes out and rams Kenny into the ring post. Then he throws him back in the ring and Ion got the 3 count. Then Austin Aries comes out and attacks Roode.

Bully Ray is backstage. He says he’s not concerned about Aces and Eights. He says that they’d be shmucks to come after him. He then says that he respects Kurt Angle but Ray is the toughest guy Angle’s ever faced. Ray says he’s getting points. Good promo from Ray.

They announce that Bobby Roode will challenge Austin Aries for the World Title at Hardcore Justice.

Then they announce that Austin Aries & Kenny King will face Bobby Roode & Zima Ion next Thursday.

Back to the BFG Series board. Joe’s still in the lead.

Kurt Angle vs. Bully Ray in a Bound for Glory Series Match. Angle gets the pin for 7 more points. Afterwards the Aces and Eights guys come back out. They attack Angle. Then Austin Aries, AJ Styles & Sting come to the ring and a brawl breaks out. Then James Storm’s music plays and he hits the ring. He runs Aces and Eights off. Then Angle & Storm have words to end the show. This match was really good too. I’m not sure what they’re doing with Kurt Angle thinking James Storm is in charge of Aces and Eights.

I thought this was a decent show overall. Angle-Ray was a great match. I’m not sure why Sting was named GM only to stick Aries with the job. AJ Styles & James Storm had a really good match too. Too bad it ended with a no finish. Kenny King-Zima Ion was good too. The Gut Check segment was also decent. Chavo’s debut was good also. I liked his promo and having Kid Kash & Gunner come out was good also. Kash cut a great heel promo. I also liked Hernandez coming in to help Chavo out. The Knockouts tag match was alright but the finish was weird. This bit with Hebner & Madison being together doesn’t work for me. The Doug Williams-Sam Shaw match was decent but short. I knew Joey Ryan was gonna be there. I thought the opening segment having Sting, Aries & Angle all looking to get their hands on Aces and Eights was decent too. Overall I thought the show was solid this week.

7-23-12 3 hour Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 23, 2012 first 3 hour 1000th episode of Raw

They start the show playing clips from all the other episodes of Raw. This was a cool video package.

The actual show starts with Vince McMahon coming to the ring. He thanks the fans for 1000 episodes. Then the fans chant thank you Vince. Then Vince welcomes the fans to Monday Night Raw. Then he introduces DX. Cue the DX music and out come Triple H & Shawn Michaels. Shawn says that he’s feeling ‘this.” He feels like he’s missing something. Triple H agrees. Then Hunter says, “Didn’t there used to be more of us?” The crowed cheered for that. Then Hunter asks the fans again and they cheer louder. Out come X-Pac, Road Dogg & Billy Gunn in a jeep. They all hug. Then they do the DX crotch chop. Road Dogg gets the mic and says he’s taking the fans down memory lane. Then he does his bit. Hunter says that he’s gotta know 1 thing. “Are you ready? No I said are you ready?” Then Triple H does the for the thousands in attendance bit and mentions he’s the only one left with a head full or hair, then mentions this is the 100th episode. Billy Gunn takes the mic and says the next part is his. He says that he wasn’t given much. Then Shawn says this is his part and that Hunter didn’t give him much either. Then Hunter says to let Shawn have his moment or else he will lose his smile. That was funny. They do a lot of funny stuff. Then Gunn & Shawn were about to say whatever but Damien Sandow comes out. He says this is what WWE and society at large has come to. Common degenerates whose behavior have plagued humanity and brainwashed to appreciate this crass conduct. Shawn says that this true about him he’s going back to Church. Then Sandow says that if they treat him like common trash he will not be a victim but a martyr of anyone who appreciates a sophisticated mind. Hunter tells him that they need to discuss this amongst themselves. They huddle up. Then Hunter says, “This is what we’ve decided.” Then Shawn give Sandow a Super Kick followed by Triple H giving Sandow a Pedigree. Then Gunn gets the mic and says the if you’re not down with that we got 2 words for ya line. Then they pull Sandow’s robe off and Hunter chucks him out of the ring. Then they pose on the stage. This was a good DX nostalgia bit. Shawn & Hunter were funny like usual. Too bad Sandow got buried though.

Back from break and Jim Ross comes out for commentary.

Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara & World Champion Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler & Alberto Del Rio. Rey, Cara & Sheamus win when Sheamus pins Jericho. The match started DURING the commercial Break! WHAT!? Jericho was going for a Lion Sault but Dolph hit him. Then Sheamus knocks Dolph off the apron. Then he gave Jericho the Brogue Kick for the pin. This was a solid match.

They show fans TOUTING about the Daniel Bryan-AJ wedding. They’re really pushing this TOUT big time.

They show Charlie Sheen via Skype. He says that he would fit in with DX. Then he says that he would get along with Sheamus. Then he says that WWE would be a good home for him. This was weird.

They re show Daniel Bryan proposing to AJ from last week.

AJ is backstage talking about the wedding to Layla. Layla asks if AJ’s sure she wants to go through with this. AJ asks why everyone keeps asking her that. Then she says that everyone in WWE is unstable. Then AJ opens the locker room door and Hacksaw is out there shouting to someone. Then R-Truth & Roddy Piper have a jump rope for “Little Jimmy.” Then Mae Young comes by with a guy dressed like a hand. That’s Mae’s “son” and now he’s all grown up. Then Layla wishes AJ luck. I liked seeing Hacksaw. The R-Truth-Piper with the jump rope was alright. Mae Young and the guy in the hand costume was dumb. This was a mixed bag segment overall.

Back from break and some vending chick comes by with drinks for Cole & King.

Brodus comes to the ring and introduces Dude Love. Mick Foley comes out in the Dude Love gear.

Brodus Clay vs. Jack Swagger. Brodus gets the really quick pin. This was a really meaningless squash. Afterwards Foley gives Swagger Mr. Socko. Then he & Brodus dance. This was idiotic.

Triple H is backstage with Trish Stratus. She’s teaching him Yoga. He bends over and then the rest of DX come in. They do some comedic stuff and then all but X-Pac walk out. X-Pac asks Trish how she’s been. She’s feels uncomfortable around him. This was alright but not great.

They show Daniel Bryan in his weeding suit with some other guys.

The ring is all decorated for the Daniel Bryan-AJ wedding. Jerry Lawler introduces the Reverend. Out comes Slick to Jive Soul Bro. I popped HUGE for that!! Slick says he’s been promised a whole lot of yard bird (whatever that means) for his services tonight. Then Daniel Bryan comes out and does his yes bit. Then AJ comes out in her wedding dress. Slick does the gathered here bit. Then he says that Daniel & AJ have chosen the fans to witness this ceremony. Then Slick says that marriage is a sacred institution, shouldn’t be entered to lightly and said other stuff. Really funny!! Then he asks if there’s anyone who objects. The fans chant no. Daniels says that he will always love AJ. He promises that once their married a new chapter will start for them both and he will finally have everything he ever wanted. Then Slick asks Daniel if he takes AJ. He says yes. Then he was going to ask AJ and she chants yes. Then the fans chant no. Then AJ says that she wasn’t saying yes to Daniel but to some other guy. Another guy who made a proposal to her earlier in the night. Cue No Chance and Vince comes out. Vince says it’s not that kind of a proposal. Vince says in the interest of making Raw 1000 as great as can be. He introduced the new Raw GM. AJ. I gotta admit I wasn’t expecting that. Then AJ gives Daniel the bouquet and she walks out to her theme music. Daniel stood in the ring and tore up the flowers. AJ chants yes on the stage. Daniel chants no. Then he tears the decorating apart. This was a good segment. I loved seeing Slick! That was a great surprise! He was tremendous here too. When he was saying what “marriage is” and the fans chanted what and then he said, “I SAY MARRIAGE IS” was hysterical! AJ as the new GM was also unexpected. We’ll see how that goes.

Back from the break and Daniel Bryan is still screaming no as referees hold him back. Then CM Punk comes to the ring. Punk says that he didn’t come out to rub this is Daniel’s face but he just got stood up at the alter. Then Punk says it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Punk then says AJ being GM probably doesn’t bode well for Daniel’s future. Then he says that Daniel can continue throwing his tantrum. Punk says he himself will continue being the WWE Champion and the best in the world at what he does. Daniel says that Punk isn’t even the best the ring right now. Then Daniel says that not only is he greater than Punk but he is the greatest WWE superstar of all time. Cue If ya smell and The Rock comes out. He gets the mic and looks at Daniel. Then he says that Daniel doesn’t get to say who the greatest of all time is. The fans do. Then he says his finally The Rock has come back line. Rock was about to speak but Daniel cut him off. He says he doesn’t know, and then Rock cuts him off. He tells Daniel not to cut The Rock off like that. Rocks says he won his first WWE Title in St. Louis. Then he says The Rock isn’t hear to talk to Frodo. He’s here to talk about the WWE Title. Rock then says that whoever the WWE Champion is come the Royal Rumble, that champion will defend the Title against him. Punk says that he will be Champion still. Punk then says that he will beat Cena tonight. Then Punk says that he will also beat Rock at the Royal Rumble. Rock again mentions winning his first Title in St. Louis. Rock then says that he will be the next WWE Champion. Then Daniel chants no. He says this is supposed to be about him. This was supposed to be the greatest night of his life. Daniels then says that some way, some how Rock will face him. Daniel says that not only will he be WWE Champion but he will be the face of WWE. Rock then says that when he looks at Daniel he sees what would happen if a homeless lumber jack banged oompa loompa. Then he sings that Daniel looks a troll from Lord of the Rings. Then Rock wishes Punk luck. Then Rock tells Daniel that it’s not all bad for him because The Rock got him a wedding gift anyway. Then he gives him a Rock Bottom! This was great! Daniel was awesome as usual. Punk was good too. The Rock of course was his usual charismatic funny self!

Bret Hart comes to the ring to be the guest ring announcer for the next match. Bret says that 1 of the best moments of his career was when he won his first Intercontinental Title in a match against one of the greatest of all time Mr. Perfect. Then he says it’s an honor to introduce the 2 guys who are going to be in the Intercontinental Title match next. Bret then introduces Christian. Christian comes to the ring. Then Bret introduces The Miz. Miz comes out.

Intercontinental Champion Christian vs. The Miz for the Title. Miz gets the pin to become the new Champion. This was a solid match. I wasn’t expecting Miz to win the title. Afterwards Miz gets the mic and says, I’m the Intercontinental Champion and I’m awesome.”

Back to Charlie Sheen. He says that it was great to see Rock back. Then he says that Daniel Bryan has anger management issues. Whatever.

They show Reagus somewhere mentioning that was at WrestleMania 7 and mentions the number of wrestlers he’s had on his show. Freddie Blassie, Iron Sheik & John Cena. He congratulates WWE for 1000 episodes of Raw.

Triple H comes to the ring. He says it’s time to pick up the intensity. He says that he wants to fight Brock at SummerSlam and he wants an answer from Brock right now. Lesnar’s music plays and out comes Paul Heyman. Hunter says he came out here to talk to the horses head not its ass. Heyman says that Lesnar is in the building and has authorized Heyman to answer Triple H. Heyman says that Brock’s answer to Triple H is no. Hunter says if Brock won’t come out, he will go find him. Heyman reminds him that he has 2 lawsuits against him already and now he’s looking for a third. Heyman asks him if that’s good for business. Hunter says he doesn’t care. Then he says that Brock is such a coward that he won’t come out to say no himself. Hunter says that Brock is a scared bully. Heyman asks what happened to him. Hunter knocks the mic out of his hands. Heyman says that he feels sorry for Hunter’s children. As he was talking Stephanie McMahon’s music hits and she comes to the ring. She gets the mic and tells Heyman not to speak about her children. Then she says that the lawsuits aren’t about Brock, but about Heyman being a failure. She says that her dad had the guts to get in the ring with Austin. She says that Heyman’s kids are ashamed of him because he is a professional parasite. Then she slaps him. Heyman asks if Stephanie wants to see Hunter face Lesnar then that’s what they’ll get. The fight’s on. Then Heyman stays to Stephanie that he fell for her act. Then she goes after Heyman. Cue Brock’s music and he comes to the ring. He goes after Triple H. Triple H fights back. They go back and forth and Hunter clotheslines Lesnar over the top rope. This was a good segment too but I don’t why they felt the need to take ANOTHER shot at Heyman and saying he was a flop as a businessman! That was idiotic! Heyman cut a great promo as usual however.

More TOUTS from the fans.

They show a video package of the Steve Austin-Vince McMahon feud. This was a good video.

Santino Marella & Hornswoggle come to the ring with the new brawlin buddies. King & Cole each have 1 too. Santino & Hornswoggle hand them to the fans.

Howard Finkel is in the ring and is the ring announcer for the next match.

Heath Slater comes to the ring. He says everything’s that’s happened to him is in the past and doesn’t matter. He says that his win tonight will be epic. He challenges any of the so called Raw legends No DQ no count out match with the One Man Band. Cue Lita’s music and she comes out. Slater asks Lita if she thinks she can beat him. He accepts her challenge. Lita says that for tonight’s match she hired some protection. Out come the APA. They hit the ring and Slater heads up the stage. Then The L.O.D. music hits and all the legends that Slater has faced come out (Vader, Sid, DDP, Piper, Road Warrior Animal, Doink, Rikishi, Backlund, and Sgt. Slaughter). They throw Slater into the ring. Lita gives him a Twist of Fate. Then Bradshaw Clotheslines him. The she moon saults him for the pin. Then all the legends come in the ring. Ron Simmons gets the mic and says “Damn.” This was a decent bit.

Sean Mooney is back. He interviews Daniel Bryan. Daniel says AJ humiliated him; Rock taunted him and was insulted by Charlie Sheen. He says Sheen needs more than anger management, he needs life management. Then he says if Sheen was there he would get the Yes Lock on him faster than Sheen can say winning. Whatever that meant. Good promo. I wasn’t expecting Sean Mooney to be on the show. They’re bringing back just about everybody.

Michael Cole is at ringside with Alex Guerrero. He is WWE 100 millionth social media follower. He says he’s excited to be at the show and can’t wait for the next thousand. Cole says that the fan has now been interviewed by him.

They show Fozzy Bear and he talks about wrestlers having catch phrases. Then They show a video package of some of the catch phrases. This was cool too.

Zack Ryder & John Cena are backstage with Gene Okerlund. Ryder says that Okerlund is the guy who made GTV. Gene says he wasn’t working for the company then. Then Rock comes by. Okerlund & Ryder walk off. Rock wishes Cena luck against Punk. Cena then says that he will be WWE Champion so he can have another shot at the great one. Rock says he’s looking forward to that. This was ok.  I really hope to God they don’t put the Title back on Cena! It was cool to see Mean Gene.

Kane comes to the ring. Then Jinder Mahal comes out with Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Camacho, Hunico & Drew McIntyre. Jinder says they’ve never been given an opportunity so they’ll make their own right now. Then the lights go out and the gong hits. Out comes The Undertaker. He gets in the ring and looks at Kane. The 6 jobbers are outside the ring. Then they get in the ring and Kane & Taker flatten them. That is followed by a double Tombstone. The fans chant this is awesome. Then Taker does his kneeling pose. It was cool seeing Taker. Without him this segment wouldn’t have been anything.

Back to Charlie Sheen. Cole mentions Daniel Bryan’s promo. Sheen says that he isn’t hard to find. Lawler asks if he’s challenging Daniel to a match. Sheen says Daniel can think whatever he wants. Then Cole hinted that Sheen might be looking to face Daniel at SummerSlam. It looks like they’ll have Sheen-Daniel for that.

John Cena vs. WWE Champion CM Punk for the Title. Cena wins by DQ when Big Show comes in. Punk bumped into the referee and the ref was knocked out. Then Big Show came in and speared Cena. Then when Cena got to his feet Show gave him the knockout punch. Then Punk thought about it for awhile. He went to wake up the ref. Eventually Punk covered Cena and the ref counted 2. Then Punk was going to give Cena an AA but Cena turned it into an STF. Then Big Show came in and went after Cena. That led to the DQ. Afterwards Big Show continues his attack on Cena. Then The Rock comes out and gives Show a spine buster. He was going for the People’s Elbow but then CM Punk clotheslined him. Then Punk gave Rock the GTS. Then Punk gets his belt and walks up the ramp as the fans boo him. That ends the show. This was good too. I had a feeling they would have Cena win by DQ. It looks like they’re turning Punk heel again. Rock vs. Punk would be great to see.

I thought the first 3 hour show was entertaining overall. I loved seeing Slick. He was great on the mic during the wedding segment. I wasn’t expecting AJ to be the new GM for Raw. That was a nice surprise. I also liked the Rock-Punk-Daniel back and forth. That was 1 of the highlights of this show. Cena-Punk was good too and I expected the DQ ending to the match. They had A LOT of talent from the old days on the show. I wasn’t expecting Seam Mooney. I was also kind of surprised that Miz won the Intercontinental Title. The Heath Slater segment was the usual we’ve been getting from him. Having Lita challenge him was surprising too. The DX stuff at the start was typical DX nostalgia. It’s a shame that they threw around Sandow. The Triple H-Paul Heyman-Stephanie-Brock segment was decent but a bit long. There wasn’t a lot of actual in ring wrestling on this week’s show. This was all about making it to episode 1000. I thought they did a good job tonight. We’ll see how Raw will be going forward starting next week. On the whole I thought this week’s show was enjoyable.

7-20-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 20, 2012 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Rey Mysterio coming to the ring. They show his return from Monday. Rey says it’s been almost a year that in this ring and in this arena where he was injured. He says that he never lost hope. Then he tells his hometown crowd that he is officially back. Rey says that on Raw he couldn’t wait. He says there was something that he had to do to someone. Then he says Alberto being in the ring at that time made everything sweeter. Then Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez come out. Del Rio says that Rey made a mistake coming back. He tells Rey that he should never pick a fight against him because he knows Rey remembers that he is the guy who took him out last year and almost ended Rey’s career. Del Rio gets in the ring and says that he can finish the job right now but rather than do that he’s giving Rey an order. He tells Rey to leave the ring right now. Rey says he’s not going anywhere. Del Rio says that when Rey was gone he won everything. Money, power, titles. He says that he’s had enough from Rey. Then he says that he doesn’t want to talk about Ray. He wants to talk about Sheamus and what he did at Money in the Bank. Rey says that at Money in the Bank Sheamus beat Del Rio’s face in. Then Alberto says that Rey hasn’t learned anything in a year. Then he says that the good thing about Rey’s return is that it will be short. But lucky for Rey the guy who is going to destroy Rey’s life, dreams and career is the next World Champion. Alberto Del Rio. Then Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero come out. Dolph tells Rey that if his career is going to be ended by the next World Champion it will be because he did it. Then Dolph says that he’s not out there for Rey. He’s out there for Del Rio. He tells Del Rio that he beat 7 other guys to win the Money in the Bank contract that earned him a World Title match wherever and whenever he wanted it. He says that he was going to cash it in on Sheamus at the PPV. Then he says that he would be World Champion right now if it weren’t for Del Rio. Del Rio tells Dolph that he doesn’t work for him. Then he tells Dolph that if he thinks he will do his dirty work so Dolph can take what is his is loco. Then Del Rio says that if he wanted, Dolph could be working for him right now. Him and his burra. Mysterio asks them why they don’t just fight right now. Dolph says that Rey is right. Dolph & Alberto should get it on right now. Just not with each other. Then Sheamus comes out. He tells Rey that it’s good to see him. Then he says if Del Rio or Dolph take 1 step toward Rey he will shove Dolph’s case right up his “show off.” He said other stuff too but I couldn’t make it out. I just got that he said that he would toss Dolph’s case in the Pacific Ocean. Then Sheamus says why they don’t to that right now. They face off but Alberto & Ricardo leave the ring. Then Sheamus elbows Dolph and then Rey goes for the 619 but Vickie yanks Dolph out of the ring. This sets up Sheamus& Rey vs. Del Rio & Dolph for later. This was a solid opening segment.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Primo & Epico vs. Titus O’Neil, Darren Young, Hunico & Camacho. Titus, Darren, Hunico & Camacho win when Darren pins Primo. This was a solid match. Afterwards Big Show comes out and flattens them all. Nothing says these 8 guys don’t matter like having Big Show destroy them all. Then Big Show gets the mic. He stands over the knocked out guys and says, “And? What?” I’m not sure what that was about.

They show a video recapping Cena being in and winning Money in the Bank.

Back to the show. Damien Sandow is in the ring for his match. Zack Ryder comes out. Then Sandow gets the mic and screams for Ryder’s music to be stopped. He tells the fans that they’re embarrassing themselves by supporting this brainless broski. He says they should all be ashamed. Before he can anything more Ryder goes after him.

Zack Ryder vs. Damien Sandow. Sandow gets the pin. This was a short match. Ryder got in some offense but Sandow dominated most of this.

Time for Christian’s Peep Show. He says that he’s been in WWE a long time and has seen a lot of strange things happen and what happened on Monday was taken to a whole new level of bazaar. They reshow the Daniel Bryan-AJ segment from Raw. Then Christian says they will be getting married on Raw # 1000. Then he introduces them. Daniel Bryan & AJ come to the ring. Christian asks how the wedding planning is going. Daniel says that it’s tough to plan a wedding in a week but it’s going really well. Then AJ says that they brought along a clip. They shows a video package with violin and cello music playing. That was actually kind of funny. Christian says that was special. Then Christian asks Daniel if he’s sure he’s doing the right thing here. Daniel naturally says yes. Then Christian asks AJ if she’s completely forgiven Daniel for everything he’s done in the past. Of course she says yes too. Then Christian says that this is true love. They both chant yes and so do the fans. Christian then says that it sounds like the fans have something they want to say so he will ask the Peeps in San Diego some more questions. Christian asks the fans if Daniel & AJ should marry. That got mostly a no from the fans. He asks the fans if they think Daniel really loves AJ. That gets mostly a no. Then Christian asks the fans if think AJ has any idea what she is doing. That was mostly no too. Then Christian asks AJ if she knows what she’s doing. Then AJ slaps him in the face. Daniel & AJ were about to leave but Christian tells them not so fast. Christian says that he himself is a married man so he is going to let that “Bridezilla slap” go. He then says that he knows they’ve both been so busy planning this wedding that Daniel probably doesn’t even realize that he’s been scheduled for a match right here tonight. Then Christian gives Daniel advice about asking a woman to marry him. Like asking if she has any access baggage such as a psychotic ex boy friend. A psychotic ex boy friend that Daniel will face right now. Cue Kane’s pyro and he comes out. This was a decent segment but it was a bit on the long side.

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan. Kane wins by DQ when AJ gets involved. Kane was going to choke slam Daniel but AJ got on the top rope, jumped on top of Kane and locked a sleeper hold on him. Then Daniel kicks Kane in the knees. He was goin for a kick but Kane grabbed him by the throat and choke slammed him while AJ was still on top of him. Then AJ raked Kane’s eyes but then Kane pulled her off his back. Then she went into Kane’s arms. He eventually puts her down. Then AJ looked at Kane and hinted that she was going to kiss him but Daniel yanked her out of the ring and they walked up the ramp. Then Daniel & AJ kiss on the stage. I thought this was a little bit too long also. The match was ok but the post match stuff was kind of hokey I thought.

Heath Slater is in the ring. Then they reshow him talking about his “favorite” Raw moments. Back to Slater in the ring. He says that all of that happened to him on Raw. But now the one man band is on Smackdown. And his luck is about because he said it’s going to. Then The L.O.D. music hits and Road Warrior Animal comes out.

Road Warrior Animal vs. Heath Slater. Animal gets the pin. This was short too. Slater got in some offense but Animal creamed him.

Ricardo & Vickie are arguing backstage. Vickie says she’s not a donkey, she is a queen Diva. They go back and forth. Vickie says that the next Del Rio is going to diss the next World Champ Dolph or whatever. Ricardo says that Vickie’s jealous of Alberto because he is legit Mexican Royalty unlike her. They go back and forth more and then Vickie screams and Ricardo walks off. Lame segment.

They mention everything that will happen on Raw 1000. DX, the Daniel-AJ wedding, Brock’s response to Triple H’s SummerSlam challenge, The Rock being there and the Cena-Punk WWE Title match. They really have this show loaded.

World Champion Sheamus & Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio & Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus & Mysterio win by DQ when Ricardo gets involved. Sheamus was going for the Brogue Kick on Del Rio but Ricardo yanked his foot. Afterwards Alberto locked Sheamus in the cross arm breaker and referees come in to break it up. The referees send Alberto & Ricardo to the back while Sheamus lies in the ring selling the injury. Then Dolph has Vickie give him the case. He gives to the referee to cash in but then Rey comes back in. He dropkicks Dolph into the ropes and gives him a 619. Then Sheamus gave Dolph a Brogue Kick. Sheamus & Rey celebrate in the ring to end the show. This was good. I liked the match and I thought the post match stuff was decent too.

This was a decent show overall. The matches were mostly solid to good. There were a couple squashes on here too. The Peep Show segment was decent but I thought it was a little too long. Overall I thought this was a decent show this week.

7-19-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 19, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with a recap of last week’s attacks on Hulk Hogan & Sting. They show a pic of Hulk in a hospital bed (he had legit back surgery). Then Tenay says that Hogan & Sting aren’t in the Impact Zone.

They show the Bound for Glory series stats. James Storm is back in the lead.

James Storm comes to the ring. He says that wants to address a few things. He mentions that Austin Aries is the new World Champion. He congratulates him. He says that he’s back in first place in the BFG Series. Then he says that he hasn’t forgotten about Bobby Roode and he wants to kick the living crap out of him. Then he talks about the Aces and eights. Storm says this isn’t the Wild West because if it were he would be the sheriff. Storm sends a get well shout to Hulk Hogan. Then Storm says the measuring stick of wrestling is measured by 1 man. Tonight on Open Fight Night he calls out Kurt Angle. Angle’s music plays but doesn’t come out. Cue Angle’s music a second time but no Kurt. Then Storm tells the cameraman to go find him. The camera guy goes backstage while Storm waits in the ring. Cut to backstage and Angle has been attacked by Aces and Eights. I knew that was coming. This was a good segment. Storm cut a good promo. Then when Angle didn’t come out I knew the playing card guys struck.

Samoa Joe comes to the ring. He says that there isn’t a man alive that would call him out so he figured he’d pick a fight for himself. He calls out The Pope so he can make him tap. Pope comes out.

Samoa Joe vs. Pope D’Angelo Dinero in a Bound for Glory Series Match. Samoa Joe wins by submission for 10 more points. This was a solid match.

From earlier in the day, some guy asks if Roode has anything to do with the Aces and eights guys. Roode says that he has other stuff to worry about. Then the guy brings up Austin Aries and Roode says that he will show Aries’ win was a fluke.

Jeff Hardy comes to the ring. Jeff welcomes everyone to Open Fight Night. He says he has someone in mind he’s about to call out. Before he can say who Robbie E comes out. Robbie says that everyone in the series is ducking him. Tonight he’s calling Jeff out and there’s nothing Jeff can do about it because he’s not on the list. Whatever that meant. Jeff says, “Creatures lets do this.”

Jeff Hardy vs. Robbie E in a Bound for Glory Series Match. Robbie E wins by count out for 5 points when Jeff went after Rob Terry. This was ok but short.

They show the next Gut Check contestant Sam Shaw backstage.

ODB is backstage on her cell phone talking to Eric Young who is right behind here. She asks where he’s been. Eric talks about getting his own show. Then they make out. ODB tells him to get the beer and fired chicken. This was typical Eric Young-ODB comedy.

They recap Claire telling AJ he’s the dad.

Kazarian & Daniels are backstage. Daniels says that what surprises him is that with all the evidence against AJ AJ’s being self righteous and refusing to admit to his errors. Kazarian says that if Claire brings some proof that will do something. Whatever. Can they end this idiotic storyline really soon please?

Jeremy Borash is in the ring and he brings out the Gut Check contestant Sam Shaw.  Shaw says he wanted to be a pro wrestler his whole life. He’s finally getting his chance to show the fans why he should be on the Impact roster. JB says there needs to be something that separates him from other Gut Check contestants. Then the Aces and Eights guys hit the ring and attack Shaw. I wasn’t expecting those to come out during this segment.

Back from break and Al Snow and referees help Sam Shaw to the back.

Ken Anderson comes to the ring. He says that at the last Open Fight Night he called out Christopher Daniels. The fans cheer. He asks why they are cheering him. This time he’d like to call out a guy he respects. Someone he sees as a friend and brother. He calls out AJ Styles. AJ comes out.

Ken Anderson vs. AJ Styles in a Bound for Glory Series Match. Anderson gets the pin for 7 points. This was a really good back and forth match.

Afterwards Claire comes out and screams at AJ. She says she’s been calling him all week. She says if he won’t return her calls they’ll talk about it right here. Claire says that AJ has a hard time remembering that night. Claire says that they were in a hotel room and had some drinks. AJ says he doesn’t remember anything and that it all happened in her imagination. Then she takes out some photos of the 2 of them in bed and making out. She says that went on all night. She tells him to think about and see if can remember. This is really idiotic! I’m way past tired of this storyline! Can they please just end this crap already!?

AJ Styles is backstage looking at the photos.

Rob Van Dam comes to the ring. He says that it’s great to be part of Open Fight Night and he feels like fighting. Then he says he wants to kick the crap out of Christopher Daniels. Daniels comes out.

Rob Van Dam vs. Christopher Daniels in a Bound for Glory Series Match. Daniels gets the pin with his foot on the rope for 7 more points. This was a good match too.

Austin Aries is backstage and the camera guy asks for his reaction to Roode calling him a fluke. Aries says that they way Roode won at Lockdown was a fluke. Aries says that he trumps Roode. Then as he picks up his cape aces and eights cards fall out. Aries says that he trumps the Aces and Eights too. Good promo from Aries.

Mike Tenay & Taz are on the phone with Brooke Hogan. Brooke says that Hulk’s been taken to surgery and she doesn’t want to talk about it. Taz wishes Hulk a fast recovery. That was a wasted segment. Thankfully it was short.

Joseph Park is backstage with Garrett Bischoff and offers Garrett his services. Then Garrett asks him about the match with Ray. Joseph says he might’ve lost but he stood up for himself. Garrett says he doesn’t mean the match, he means the look on his face afterwards.

They show Magnus & Bully Ray face to face backstage.

Magnus walks out to the ring and Ray hits him from behind. Magnus fights back and rams Ray into the guard rail and steel steps. Then they get in the ring and the match starts.

Magnus vs. Bully Ray in a Bound for Glory Series match. Ray gets the pin for 7 points. This was also a good match.

They show the BFG Board. Samoa Joe is back in the lead.

They show a video package promoting the TNA debut of Chavo Guerrero, Jr. He will be on next week.

Bobby Roode comes to the ring. He’s on the stage and says, “1 word, 1 word, fluke.” Then he says that as promised he’s calling out Aries.

Back from break. Roode is in the ring and says that Aries’ win over him was nothing but a fluke and the whole world knows it. Aries comes out.

TNA World Champion Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode. Aries wins by DQ when The Aces and Eights come out and go after Aries. The beat down continues as Roode watches. Then they turn to Roode. Roode applauds them. He offers his hand to one of them but then they beat him down too. These guys beat down both Roode & Aries to end the show. This was good too. I liked both the match and the Aces and Eights attack.

This week’s show was really good overall. There were good matches on the show. Anderson-AJ was great. Anderson has really gotten better. The AJ-Claire storyline is stupid. Joe-Pope was solid and I liked Magnus-Ray and RVD-Daniels too. I like what they’re doing with the Aces and Eights faction. Having them come in during the Gut Check segment I thought was unexpected which I thought was good. This storyline so far has been good. I think some of that might be because they’re masked so we don’t know who they are. I’m hoping they can keep this Aces and Eights storyline going. Overall I thought I thought this was a good show this week.

7-16-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 16, 2012 final 2 hour episode of Raw

The show starts with CM Punk coming to the ring. He says that he loves Las Vegas. He mentions that it was a year ago when he dropped a pipe bomb in this city. He talks about how he said he was the best and he’s proven he is the best in the world. He’s beaten everyone including Daniel Bryan even though there was a confused referee. Then he mentions Raw 1000 next week. He says that he thinks about the first episode of Raw because of a guy on that show who looks, talks and acts like him and wouldn’t have been on that first episode. Let alone standing in the ring during his 8th month as WWE Champion. He says he plans on being WWE Champion next Monday. Then Big Show’s music plays and he comes out. Show says that Punk’s story was really touching. He says that he was inches away from winning MITB. He says that the case was in his grasp but Cena was in the right place at the right time when the handle broke. Show says that if he won he would cash in the contract right now. Punk says that Show walked out, beat the crap out of everybody, tore up ladders and then lost. Punk says Show has everything it takes to be champion. Punk says Show has the size and strength but he lost. Then Punk says that he is half Show’s size but has everybody’s respect, while Show has his big contract and no one respects him. Show says the fans don’t even respect themselves. Show says that if Punk left WWE the fans wouldn’t care. Show says that he knows the fans don’t respect him but he could care less. He tells Punk that he isn’t special. Punk says he is the WWE Champion and Show isn’t. He says that Show is an underachieving guy who happens to be a giant. Show says that after he knocks Punk out and loses to him, Punk could very well lose the title to John Cena. This was a decent opening segment. Thankfully it didn’t go as long as last week’s. Punk never mentioned who the Champion was on the first episode. It was Bret Hart but I think he was in the 4th month of his Title reign then.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. The Primetime Players for the Titles. Kofi & Truth win when Truth pins Titus. This was solid match. AW is all pissed at the referee.

AJ is backstage and Daniel Bryan shows up. AJ says she called the match down the middle. She says she’s sorry if he didn’t like the outcome. Daniel says that he’s sorry for the way he’s been since WrestleMania. He says that he got so caught up in looking to beat Punk for the WWE Title that he made her a scapegoat. Then he says that he can finally admit how he feels. Then Eve shows up and mentions Daniel ditching her in the tag match last week. She says that the Board has made a tag match for tonight. Herself & a partner of her choosing vs. AJ & Daniel. She walks off. Then AJ asks Daniel what he was going to say. He says he will tell her after the match. Then he kisses her on the cheek.

Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This was a squash. Afterwards he locks the arm breaker on Ryder again, but then Rey Mysterio makes his return. He runs to the ring and Del Rio kicks him for a bit. They go back and forth and Rey hits flying head scissors followed by a 619. Del Rio rolls out of the ring all in shock. It was cool to see Mysterio back.

Heath Slater talks about all the legends he’s faced as his favorite Raw moments. Then they show a dressing room door and a legend will be coming out next.

Heath Slater is in the ring. He says he knows a Raw legend is about to come out. He says he’s not stupid. Then Rikishi comes out. I don’t know if I’d call Rikishi a legend.

Rikishi vs. Heath Slater. Rikishi gets the pin. This was a squash too. I don’t know why they have Slater as the guy who jobs to old timers. Afterwards the lights go out and when they come back on his sons The Usos are in the ring. They do the old Too Cool bit.

Eve Torres comes to the ring for the mixed tag match. She says, “ladies and gentlemen, my tag team partner for this evening.” Cue “Awesome” and the Miz comes out.

Daniel Bryan & AJ vs. The Miz & Eve Torres. Daniel & AJ win when AJ pins Eve. Eve got an inside cradle but Daniel reversed it. Afterwards Daniel says there’s something she used to say to him. Something he was too stupid and scared to say back. But now he realizes that things won’t be right till he says what it is. H tell AJ that he loves her. Then he says that last week he admits that he asked her a question because he wanted to become WWE Champion. But this week he doesn’t want anything except this. Then he gets on his knee and asks AJ to marry him. He places the ring on her finger. Then he hold the mic up to her. She’s all choked up and says yes. Then they kiss. Then they and the fans chant yes. Where are they going with this? Daniel was good with his promo but this storyline is a bit much.

Ryback vs. Jack Swagger. The match never officially started when Swagger went right after Ryback. He gives Ryback the Doctor Bomb followed by the Swagger Bomb. Then he goes for an Ankle Lock but Ryback shoves him off. Swagger tries again but Ryback pushes him off. Then he clotheslines Swagger. Then he gives him a series of power bombs. Then Swagger rolls out of the ring. This was a typical Ryback squash even though the match never started. Feed Ryback more.

They show a John Cena TOUT. He says that he has a huge announcement for tonight. Whatever.

Vickie Guerrero comes out and introduces Dolph Ziggler. Dolph comes out with the MITB case. He says that every MITB contract has been successfully cashed in and that means he will be the next World Champion. He says it’s only a matter of time before he cashes in on Sheamus and he will be the greatest Champion ever. Better then Bret, Austin & Rock. Then Chris Jericho comes out. Before Jericho can speak Dolph says that this isn’t about Jericho. Dolph says this is his moment. He says that Jericho never won MITB. Then he asks when was the last time Jericho won anything. Dolph says that all he’s heard since Jericho’s returned is that Jericho is the best in the world at what he does. Then Dolph says that what Jericho does is lose. He says that no one has been given more chances than Jericho. He says Jericho’s been costing along for so long he has everybody fooled. Jericho’s all hype. Then he asks when was the last time Jericho won a match. Dolph asks if it’s possible that Jericho’s losing his touch and can’t win the big one. Then Jericho gives Dolph a Code Breaker. Dolph cut a good promo here but got buried AGAIN anyway! It looks like they’re turning Jericho face. Jericho vs. Dolph could be good. If they don’t make Dolph look like a jobber again. I’m hoping they don’t have Dolph lose the MITB case to Jericho!

They show TOUTS from fans giving their favorite Raw moments.

They show a graphic for the Daniel Bryan-AJ wedding for next week. Then they mention that DX will reunite and that Brock Lesnar will respond to Triple H’s challenge. Then they mention that The Rock will be there too. They really have next week’s show loaded up.

Brodus Clay comes to the ring and does his bit.

Then they show that because of a fan poll the Intercontinental Title will be defended next week. The other titles were the U.S. & Divas Titles.

They announce that on Smackdown Daniel Bryan & AJ will be on Christian’s Peep Show.

Brodus Clay vs. JTG. Brodus gets the pin. JTG got some offense in surprisingly. The match was short though.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Big Show. Punk wins by DQ when Show shoves the referee. Afterwards Show continues pounding on Punk. He was going for the WMD but then Cena came out. Show left the ring. Cena gets the mic and says that his announcement is…Show cuts him off and says that Cena’s gonna announce that he’s cashing in the MITB case right now. Show mentions that the WWE Title is the spinner belt that was made for him. Show says that fans don’t respect Cena or themselves. Then he tells Cena he will never have an easier title win then he will right now. Cena then says he is giving Punk a week to defend the Title. Cena says that he will cash in the MITB case next week. Then Cena hits Show with the case. Punk & Cena face off. Cena holds up the case & Punk holds up the Title. This ends the show. This was good. I’m really hoping to God that they don’t put the belt back on Cena!

This week’s show was easily better than last week’s. The opening segment with Punk & Big Show was decent and the Punk-Show match was solid too. Cena coming out and saying he was cashing the case next week was ok too. Hopefully they won’t put the title back on him. There were some solid matches on this week’s show. There were also a few squashes. Daniel Bryan proposing to AJ wasn’t too surprising. They’re rushing it a bit with the wedding happening next week. They really have a lot set for next week’s show. Overall I thought this week the show was not great but horrendous like last week’s show was. We’ll see how the first 3 hour Raw will be. I’m not getting my hopes up.

7-13-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the July 13, 2012 episode of SmackDown

They start the show with a Zack Ryder video mentioning that he will be the Smackdown GM this week. Welcome to Friday Night Zack Down.

The actual show starts with Zack Ryder coming to the ring. He welcomes everyone to Friday Night Zack Down. He says that his first act as GM is to organize the world’s largest fist pump with all the fans. Then he and the fist pump. He says this will be the greatest Smackdown ever. You know it. Then Alberto Del Rio comes out. Del Rio says that he thought Teddy Long was a joke when he was GM but Ryder is a stupid clown who calls himself the Internet champion. Then he gets in the ring and says that this Sunday he will become the real World Champion. And after that he will rule Smackdown. Ryder corrects him and says that this is Zack Down. Ryder says the reason he brought Del Rio to Zack Down is because there is someone who wants to get their hands on Del Rio. Ryder says that this guy is Del Rio’s opponent right now. Sin Cara comes out. I was ok with this segment.

Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This was a good back and forth match.

They put over their new social media TOUT. They show fans filming themselves mentioning their favorite Raw moments. Who cares?

Teddy Long & Zack Ryder are backstage. Long says Ryder is doing a great job running the show. They shake hands and hug. Then Long walks off. Then Big Show comes by and says that Ryder is doing a terrible job running the show. Show says he can’t believe that Ryder won the battle royal last week. Show then says that Ryder shouldn’t be the Smackdown GM, but he himself should. Then Show he will be the Smackdown GM. He was setting up for the WMD but Great Khali shows up. Ryder tells Show that he will face Khali tonight. Show walks off. Then Khali does the fist pump and says Ryder’s catch phrase. This was goofy but thankfully it was short too.

Primo vs. Darren Young. Primo gets the pin. This was a decent match.

Sheamus & Zack Ryder are backstage. Ryder tells Sheamus that if he & Del Rio duke it out tonight he’s calling the match off (I had no idea Zack could do that). He says he has a show to run. Then Chris Jericho comes by. He says that can’t believe Ryder is in charge tonight. He says that he wants to see this Zack Down train wreck in person. Then Sheamus tells Jericho that if he’s looking for a train wreck then Jericho should step in the ring with him tonight. Jericho says he’s not there to step in the ring with anybody. He says he is there as an observer. Then Ryder books Sheamus vs. Jericho for tonight. Sheamus tells Jericho not to be on the rail track when this train comes through because he will run all over Jericho. This was a good and short segment too.

Intercontinental Champion Christian & U.S. Champion Santino Marella vs. Dolph Ziggler & Cody Rhodes. Dolph & Cody win when Dolph pins Santino. This was a decent match also.

Great Khali vs. Big Show. Big Show gets the pin. Thankfully this was really short.

Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks come to the ring. Reks gets the mic and says that tonight he will do what Hawkins couldn’t last week and that is hand Ryback is very first loss.

Ryback vs. Tyler Reks. Ryback gets the pin. This was mostly a squash. Reks got a little bit of offense in but Ryback pounded on him through most of this.

More fans TOUTING their favorite Raw moments. Who cares?

Justin Gabriel vs. Damien Sandow. Sandow gets the pin. This was mostly a squash too.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho. Sheamus gets the pin. Afterwards Sheamus poses on the stage. Then Alberto Del Rio’s music hits and a car pulls into the arena. Then Del Rio comes out from the back and round house kicks Sheamus from behind. Then Ricardo comes out of the car. Del Rio punt kicks Sheamus off the stage and then locks him in the cross arm breaker as Sheamus hangs from the stage. Sheamus sells the injury on the floor to end the show. This was a really good back and forth match and the post match Del Rio attack was good too.

I thought this week’s show was good for a weekly TV show and they put more effort into the final hype for Money in the Bank than Raw did. The opening segment with Ryder & Del Rio was ok and the Sheamus-Jericho match followed by Del Rio going after Sheamus was good. The other matches on the show were mostly decent. There were a few squashes on here too but overall I thought this was decent show this week.
