5-30-11 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 30, 2011 episode of Raw

They showed a Memorial Day Tribute video package to start the show.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are doing commentary by themselves like nothing ever happened. SAY WHAT?

The show starts with R-Truth cutting a promo, but the channel was having technical difficulties. Truth rags on the fans who have Cena shirts. This is great stuff, too bad they’re having problems with the channel. He comes across a father and son and asks if the son’s name is “Little Jimmy” and that “Big Jimmy” has a Cena shirt too. He tells him to say something and the guy says what’s up. Truth says it’s not about what’s up anymore or the fans saying that they’ve all been against him and “Little Jimmy” makes him sick. Great stuff from Truth here. Cena come out and asks Truth what’s wrong with him. Truth says it’s not him, but all the fans and Cena. Cena tells Truth that he has no problem knocking sense into him. Truth says that all the “Little Jimmies” will get to watch him beat Cena. The Raw GM chimes in and makes Cena vs. Truth for tonight’s main event. This was a good opening segment. Truth is continuing to deliver with his heal promos. Cena was usual self too. Too bad the technical difficulties happened.

U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler. Dolph gets the pin in a really good match.

Ricardo introduces Alberto Del Rio. He talks what happen last week with Big Show’s leg getting run over. They replay the video. Alberto says it wasn’t deliberate and tells Ricardo to tell the fans what happened. Ricardo spoke in Spanish and Del Rio said that it’s Show’s fault that his leg got run over. He said that Ricardo will send Big Show the bill. Alberto then tells Big Show to get well soon. This was a decent segment. Alberto continues to do a good job in the heal role.

Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres vs. The Bella Twins. Kelly & Eve get the win when Kelly pins a Bella. This was typical Divas match.

Michael Cole is in the ring and talks about how Miz “fired” Alex Riley and Cole rants about how Riley messed up for turning on Miz. They replay the video. Alex Riley comes out with new theme music. Cole calls Riley a backstabber and says that Miz helped him grow and Riley repays him by attacking him. Cole says that Miz was hurt by Alex’s face turn and that Miz thought of him as a brother. Alex says that he’s never felt better. Cole says he should beg Miz for forgiveness. Alex tells Cole he has a big mouth, is arrogant and is starting to get annoying just like Miz. Cole tells Riley that he’s a bastard. Alex then grabs Cole and throws him down, picks him up, gets in his face and strangles him then Miz comes out and attacks Riley. Alex fights back and he attacks Miz throwing him into, then over the barrier, then threw him on the announce table and Miz finally escaped through the crowd and out the door. This was really good too. I’m impressed with Alex’s face turn and a feud with him and Miz could be good.

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk. Punk gets the pin in what was also a great match. Mysterio and Punk really have great chemistry in the ring together.

Kharma is in the ring and has a mic. She said that when she was a kid she had 2 dreams. The first was to become a WWE super star and that she tried out for season 2 of Tough Enough. She mentioned how she trained in Japan and was in every wrestling promotion till her dream came true when she came to WWE. Her second dream is that she wanted to be a mother and that she soon will be because she is expecting. She says that she will be back and thanked the fans. Good promo from Kharma. The Bellas come out and rag on Kharma mentioning how big she is. Kharma says that when she returns next year she hopes the Bellas will still be there. This was a mixed bag segment. Kharma’s promo was good, but the Bella stuff was awful.

Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger. Bourne gets the pin in a good match.

They replay the start of the show with Truth at the merchandise table complaining about how Cena’s face in everywhere and the “Big Jimmy”-“Little Jimmy” bit.

WWE Champion John Cena vs. R-Truth. Truth went into the crowd and Cena came after him, Truth got back in the ring and got the win by count out. This was more of an angle then a match. Truth jaw jacked with the fans a lot. Really good stuff. Truth throws “Big Jimmy’s” drink at him then bails. Cena checks on the guy.

This was a good show I thought. Truth is really doing a great job as a heal. The Rey-Punk, Kofi-Ziggler and Bourne-Swagger matches were the best matches on the show.

5-27-11 Smackdown coverage and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 27, 2011 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Randy Orton coming out and says that he is the World Champion. Before he can talk any further Christian comes out and says he wants another Title match. Sheamus comes in saying that he deserves a Title match and that it took Christian 17 years to win the World Title while he won his first WWE Title in his first few months. Mark Henry comes out and also wants a World Title match. Teddy Long comes out and makes a Triple Threat match for the number one contender spot. This was a good opening segment.

Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero. Cara gets the pin in a decent match.

Cody Rhodes comes out with his assistants who hand out the paper bags and Cody says that every town he goes to he never sees any decent looking people. Daniel Bryan comes out for the next match.

Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes. Daniel gets the win in a really good match.

Ezekiel Jackson vs. Heath Slater. Jackson gets the win by DQ when Barrett and Gabriel come in. This match was okay, but nothin memorable.

Matt Striker interviews Christian about the 3 way match and says that he was the last guy anyone thought would be World Champion but he did it. Good promo from Christian.

Kane vs. Great Khali. Kane gets the pin in a mercifully short match. Jinder then comes out and slaps Khali again, then Khali head vice grips Singh.

Booker T was in the ring and he had Michael Cole come in and he shows the clip of Cole with Lawler’s foot in his mouth from Sunday. I’m not sure why they had this.

Matt Striker interviews Sheamus and Sheamus cuts a promo similar to what he said at the start of the show. Good Sheamus interview.

Kaitlyn & AJ vs. Tamina & Alicia Fox. Tamina & Alicia get the win in a typical real short diva’s match after Fox gets the pin.

Matt Striker interviews Mark Henry and Henry asks who he thinks will win the 3 way and he gets in Striker’s face. Good stuff from Mark Henry.

They showed the Randy Savage video tribute! Great video package for one of the all time greats!

Christian vs. Mark Henry vs. Sheamus. Sheamus wins after pinning Christian in a really good match. Orton came out and gave Henry an RKO towards the end of the match.

I thought the show was good on the whole as usual. Smackdown continues to be the best wrestling show of the week.

5-26-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 26, 2011 episode of Impact
They had a Randy Savage tribute graphic. Good for TNA. Savage was one of the all time greats!

This week’s show begins with AJ Styles who still has a neck brace & Christopher Daniels vs. Tommy Dreamer & Bully Ray in a street fight. They’re starting the show with a match. AJ & Daniels get the win after AJ pins Dreamer. This was a great match with a lot of brawling and good spots.

Ken Anderson coming out dressed like old school Sting again for the “Scorpion Sit Down” and he brings out Glen Gilberti. He does a talk show like segment then lays Gilberti out. The real Sting then comes out and Anderson bails. This was actually pretty good I thought. Gilberti was decent on the mic and Anderson doing the Sting shouts was kinda funny.

Gunner attacks Eric Young in the bathroom and Young yaps more about the TV Title and the finger poke of doom saying they will do that match later. This was idiotic. Why bring up the finger poke of doom?

Velvet Sky comes out saying that she’s tired of accusations against her. ODB comes out and says that she was released a year ago for not having “the right look” and is tired of Knockouts like Velvet being what everyone thinks a female wrestler should be. She calls Velvet pathetic, which is why she attacked her last week then she attacked her again and security tried to break it up. Velvet escapes. This wasn’t as bad as the other Velvet segments, but still not that great.

Beer Money are in Bischoff’s office and Bischoff says that Roode’s torn ACL doesn’t look good and that he might have to take the Titles of them in a month. Bischoff yaps more and Storm says Roode won’t be healed before the PPV. This was typical Bischoff nonsense.

Pope interview in the back talking about his new issues with Devon on Xplosion.

Kurt Angle motivated Matt Morgan for his match with Jeff Jarrett.

Matt Morgan vs. Jeff Jarrett. Karen comes out with a crutch and trips Earl Hebner with it. Jarrett wins after Scott Steiner comes in while Hebner was tied up with Karen.

Time for an Eric Bischoff promo. He says that Hulk Hogan is the only person qualified to run TNA/Impact Wrestling, whatever they call it. Hulk comes out and brags about what a genius he is and how Bischoff got rid of the X-Division was genius too. I’m beyond tired of seeing these 2 guys come out and yap every week. If wrestling matters what are they doing on the show taking up TV time? Foley comes out and says that Hulk got the network’s goat and that the X-Division is here to stay. They go back and forth a bit about who runs the show, Hogan tries to talk Foley into challenging Abyss for the X-Division Title and Brian Kendrick, Amazing Red & The Bucks then come out. Kendrick says that he wants a Title match against Abyss and gets his wish. Nothin like putting emphasis on X-Division guys by having 2 former wrestlers and non wrestler go on and on for a whole segment! Hulk Hogan brother meter-9.

Winter yapping in the back more with Angelina about how things are going to change. This is the most ridiculous storyline in TNA! PLEASE END THIS!

Knockout’s Champion Mickie James vs. Winter. Mickie gets the pin. Then Angelina attacks Mickie. I guess that means Angelina will be getting a Title match next. Joy!

Abyss is in the back talking about his match with Kendrick and reads some nonsense. Abyss grabs Janice, but Kazarian lays out Abyss and says that Abyss will never use Janice again. Not much of a segment and I don’t know why the brought back the 2 x 4.

Brian Kendrick vs. X-Division Champion Abyss for the Title. Abyss gets the pin in a decent match.
Kurt Angle promo in the back talking about his match with RVD.

Eric Young vs. TV Champion Gunner for the Title. Young lays down for Gunner then as Gunner is about to pin him, Young turns it into an inside cradle to win the Title. Eric Young bails and Gunner goes after him.

Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam. The Jarretts come out for commentary. Kurt Angle gets the pin in a good back and forth match.

This was a typical TNA show. There was less than an hour of wrestling on this show. Wrestling really matters!

5-23-11 raw coverage and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 23, 2011 episode of Raw

They had an “In Memory of Randy Savage” graphic to start the show. Classy move on WWE’s part.
Jerry Lawler comes to the ring and says that Michael Cole has finally been beaten. He talks about how he knew Cole would try to chicken out, so he had a Hart up his sleeve. Bret Hart comes to the ring. He says that he and Lawler had their differences and respected the kind of competitor he is and he was glad Cole was defeated. R-Truth comes out and says what an “honor” it was to be in the ring with him. He says he hasn’t been in any Title matches and that his old gimmick got him nowhere. He takes Bret’s sunglasses and looks for a “Little Jimmy” and gives Bret’s glasses to a fan saying that means his in line for a Title match now, but he isn’t. He used to think giving the people what they wanted was all the mattered but it got him no place. He says he took out Morrison and Mysterio and that Bret was next. Bret says he got Title matches because he is the best there is, was and ever will be and that Truth hasn’t because he’s a lunatic. Cena comes out limping from his match with Miz. Cena says it’s time he and Truth had a talk. Cena says the used to be cool and Truth says he doesn’t know about cool or about him. Truth says the fans make sure it’s all about Cena and Cena says it’s Cena that makes sure it’s about the fans. Truth rags on the fans for getting all the Cena merchandise. Great stuff! Truth says he never liked Cena and that Cena and Bret are just propaganda to make the fans feel good. He doesn’t care about how the fans feel and that it’s all about him. Cena says someone should knock some sense into him. The Raw GM chimes in and makes a tag match, Cena & Mysterio vs. Truth & Punk with Bret as the guest referee. This was a good way to start the show. Bret’s promo was good and Truth continues to deliver as a heel.

Kane and Big Show are in the back sitting Alberto’s car, Ricardo comes in and Show shoves him, then Alberto gets in their faces. I’m not sure what that was about.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show vs. David Otunga & Michael McGuillicutty for the Titles. Mason comes in and Kane clotheslines him out of the ring. Show goes to choke slam both Otunga and McGuillicutty and Punk kicks show in the back of the head and McGuillicutty gets the pin on Big Show after a double DDT to win the Titles.

Kane & Big Show interview and Big Show says they got robbed. Alberto comes in and slaps Show, he runs after Alberto and someone ran over Show’s leg with the car. Looks like Alberto will be feuding with Kane & Big Show for a bit. Back from commercial and medics check on Show and he eventually stands up.

Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne. Swagger gets the pin in a good but short match. Bourne gives Swagger a roundhouse kick afterwards.

Michael Cole is in the back and walks by the Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres and offers to shake Eve’s hand and she lifts her foot up. Cole is on his way to the ring.

Cole comes out and says he doesn’t deserve the fan’s attention and that it never should have been about him and apologizes to Lawler, Josh and the fans. He says he wants to do commentary like he used to without the Cole mine. Cole begs the fans to accept his apology and the fans boo him. Lawler gets the mic and says it all sounds good and thanks him for apologizes and also for giving him a picture that will be on Christmas card this year. They show the clip of Lawler sticking his foot in Cole’s mouth from the PPV. Lawler then gives Cole a box of breath mints and Cole said he deserved it. Cole then sits to do commentary.

The Miz & Alex Riley come out and says he didn’t win the WWE Title last night is because of Alex Riley. He rags on Riley for screwing up too often. He says he wants the Raw GM to give him another Title match with Cena with Riley banned from ringside. Miz says everyone knows that he should be WWE Champion and waits for the GM to chime in. The GM does and denies the Miz a rematch and that he is done with Cena. Miz looks really ticked off, then blames Alex Riley some more for not being Champion. Alex said he wasn’t the guy who said I Quit. Miz shoves him and gets in his face and that Riley would be nothing without him. He continues to rag on Riley for being a disappointment and is sick of him and he “fires” him. Miz shoves him again and Alex fights back, tears Miz’s coat & shirt off and rams Miz into the ring barrier and continues to pound on him and throws him over the announce table then throws him back in the ring and beats on him some more. This was a good segment and the Riley face turn and beat down on Miz was well done I thought.

The Bella Twins, Melina & Maryse vs. Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres. Kelly and one of the Bellas start. The match barley gets anywhere when Kharma comes out. Kharma is surrounded by all the Divas as they wait to see who she will attack. Kharma gets on her knees and cries and for some reason starts pleading. Time for commercial. Back from commercial and they reshow Kharma’s meltdown. I have no idea what that was about. Why they had Kharma do that beats me.

U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre who had a huge amount of pyro before coming out. McIntyre went for a figure four on the turnbuckle and Kofi was selling the leg the rest of the match. Kofi gets the pin in a good match. They show Dolph and Vickie in the back watching for some reason.

Nexus is in the back celebrating their Title win and Punk says to take a look at what he will do next.

Alberto interview in the back saying Big Show had it coming by disrespecting him, but he didn’t know what to say about what happened, then he blamed Ricardo.

They show a video tribute to Randy Savage. This was a really well done video. Major kudos to WWE for this one. The fans chanted “Macho” afterwards. Savage is one of my all time favorite wrestlers and I commend WWE for making this great tribute video. I miss you Mach!

Bret Hart comes to the ring to guest referee the main event match for tonight.

John Cena & Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk & R-Truth. CM wore Macho Man like tights, which was cool. Rey give Punk the 619, Punk grabs Bret and Bret punches punk and puts him in the Sharpshooter and Rey pins Punk for the win. This match was good too.

This week’s Raw was a good show I thought. They had some good matches and a good main event. The Randy Savage tribute video was outstanding also!

5-20-11 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 20, 2011 episode of Smackdown

The show began with Christian vs. Sheamus. Christian gets the pin in a really good match. They gave these guys a lot of time. After the match, Mark Henry came and he and Sheamus double Christian. Randy Orton comes out and stands by the entrance way for a bit then runs to then to help Christian out and cleans house. Orton then helped Christian up and they shook hands. I liked that actually started with a match this week!

Todd Grisham interviews the Bellas. The Bellas argue about what happened Monday with Kharma and how Brie bailed while Nikki got flattened. Brie then mentions her Title match against Kelly Kelly Sunday and her match with Natalya tonight.

Natalya vs. Divas Champion Brie Bella in a Non Title Match. Brie gets the pin in a decent match.

Ezekiel Jackson comes to the ring and gets the mic saying he would make an impact, which is why he became part of the Corre and they how they took the show by force. Then after he slammed Big Show it made him if he needed the Corre or if the Corre needed him. He said that the Corre have beaten him but they can’t break him. He then says that Wade Barrett will no longer be Intercontinental Champion after Sunday. The Corre come out ready to attack Jackson again, but Teddy Long comes out and makes a 6 man tag team match for right now. Long introduces Jackson’s partners WWE Tag Team Champions Kane and Big Show.

Ezekiel Jackson, Kane & Big Show vs. The Corre. Zeke, Kane and Show get the win after Zeke makes Gabriel submit to the rack. This was a good back and forth match too.

Matt Striker interviews Christian backstage. Christian says that he will be at 100% and regain the World Title Sunday. Good promo from Christian.

Chavo Guerrero comes to the ring and get the mic and says that Sin Cara embarrassed him last week and that he brought Cara to Smackdown and taught him everything he knows and that Cara repaid him by dis respecting him. He says that Cara couldn’t beat Daniel Bryan without his help and that he doesn’t need Cara’s and that he will beat Bryan in 5 minutes. He then says that he will beat Cara in less then 5 minutes at Over The Limit.

Daniel Bryan vs. Chavo Guerrero. There was a 5 minute countdown clock and it ran out. Chavo tosses Daniel out of the ring and Sin Cara comes out and gave Chavo a rana.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Jr. come out with Cody’s assistants who are carrying the paper bags and they hand them out to the fans. Cody then gives Ted a bag and tells to put it over his head. Ted puts on the bag, then Cody asks what his name is and Ted with a Spanish accent says Corpus Christi. Cody and Ted then do a back and forth of why “Corpus” wears the bag, the usual cheap heal heat. Cody then asks if there’s anything more he wants to say. Ted takes the bag off and says to bring his opponent out.

Trent Beretta vs. Ted DiBiase, Jr. Ted gets the win in a good but short match. Cody comes in the ring with a bag and Ted puts it over Trent’s head.

Matt Striker is standing outside Randy Orton’s dressing room door and says that we will hear from Orton after the next match.

Great Khali comes out without Ranjin Singh for a match against Jay Uso. Jinder comes out with a mic and speaks to Khali in the Indian language and Khali goes outside the ring and Jinder whacks him. Khali goes back in the ring and slams Jay for the pin. Khali then gives a chop to Jimmy Uso.

Matt Striker interviews Randy Orton. Orton talks about his match with Mark Henry tonight and his Title match with Christian Sunday. Orton says that being 99 % is good enough, but not enough to beat him.

World Champion Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry. Orton gets the win by DQ when Sheamus comes in. Mark Henry and Sheamus beat down Orton and Christian comes out but stands on the ramp for a bit then hits the ring to make the save. Orton and Christian have a stare down and Mark Henry and Sheamus come back in and go on the attack but Orton and Christian get the upper hand laying out the heels. Orton and Christian then shook hand again to end the show.

I thought this was really good episode of Smackdown & they did a good job building up the PPV for Sunday.

Remembering Macho Man Randy Savage

My thoughts and memories of Randy "Macho Man" Savage

I just read about the sad news of Randy Savage's passing this morning at the age of 58. He was driving his car in Florida and suffered a heart attack. Randy Savage was one of my all time favorite wrestlers as a kid when I first started watching wrestling and having been a big fan of his when I first got into wrestling, I thought I would share some fond memories of watching his matches and how entertaining he was every time he was in the ring or on the mic!

When I first started watching wrestling in late 91-early 92, Randy Savage was one of the first wrestlers I noticed right away and became a big fan of. I had known about his run as the Macho King and had seen some of his matches during that run, but I really first knew about him during his classic feud with Jake "The Snake" Roberts in 1991. I had just started watching wrestling when that rivalry was happening. One of the first matches I saw him in was the 1992 Royal Rumble and remember him eliminating Jake and going after him and attacking him more and being one of the final 4 guys left in the match along with Sid Justice Hulk Hogan and that year's winner Ric Flair.

Then came the Randy Savage Ric Flair feud for not just the World Wrestling Federation Title, but also Savage defending the honor of Elizabeth, after Flair said she was with him before she was with Randy. I remember the build to that match very well with all the interviews and segments that they filmed for Superstars and Wrestling Challenge and how Ric Flair was going to show the pictures to the world at WrestleMania 8. I didn't have PPV at the time, but a friend of my dad's taped the show for me and I remember cheering for Savage hoping he would beat Flair for the belt. The match itself was one of my all time favorite matches and I remember being so worried about what would happen, going crazy during every pinfall attempt. Finally after Savage got the win I remember being really happy that had he had beaten Flair for the Title. I almost cried out of joy when Howard Finkel announced him as being once again the Champion and the fireworks going off in the ring as Randy and Elizabeth celebrated. His interview after the match was really great also, and I remember him saying he had just taken a piece of Flair and that was going to get the rest of him and it didn't matter where or when. "I don't care if it's in the street parking lot, doesn't matter to me." That match and interview will always be one of my all time favorite moments in wrestling! The feud with Flair continued throughout the rest of 1992 with several house show matches for the Title and every time I would worry hoping that Randy would win.

Then came the match with the Ultimate Warrior for the Title at SummerSlam in Wembly Stadium that year. The build up for this match was really good too and the whole who's corner will Mr. Perfect be in at SummerSlam that Flair and Perfect had mentioned to get Savage and Warrior to not trust each other was really well done. I remember hoping that Perfect wasn't going to be managing either guy. When it came time for the match and the Warrior came out without Perfect I was a bit worried, then when Savage came out also without Perfect I was happy to see that he was still the good guy. The match itself was really good with alot of well built momentum. Then Perfect and Flair came out and went after both Savage and Warrior after a greuling match. Savage eventually got counted out so he remained Champion, which I was happy about. Then after the match Savage and Warrior hugged and helped each other to the back. This would be the beginning of what was to be The Ultimate Maniacs with Savage and Warrior vs. Flair and the new arrival Razor Ramon, but the Warrior left before the match could happen.

Then I remember on Superstars seeing Ric Flair in the back with the belt and my dad told that Flair was Champion again and I was really upset. I remember hating Flair and Razor even more then I already had after Savage lost the belt.

Then after The Ultimate Warrior left and I saw that he was replaced by Mr. Perfect I remember wondering what happened to the Warrior and why was Mr. Perfect now a good guy. I remeber watching the Colliseum Home Video addition of Survivor Series where they showed the episode of Prime Time Wrestling with Vince asking Savage who he would pick as his new partner saying, "Possibly this guy could be the perfect tag team partner yeah!" I was so thrilled that Mr. Perfect was now the good guy going up against Flair. The match was very good also, with Perfect hinting walking out then coming back to help Savage and I of course was very happy that Savage and Perfect won the match. It didn't matter to me how they won, just as long as they did win. Also the Savage-Perfect interviews before and after the match were absolutely hysterical where the had the turkeys for Flair and Razor and a little chicken for Bobby The Brain.

Then when Savage went to WCW in 1994 I was really excited to see him there and see how he would do teaming once again with former Mega Power partner Hulk Hogan. The feud with Ric Flair would continue in WCW with Flair attacking Randy's dad Angelo Poffo and Flair being victorious at the Great American Bash in 1995. Randy would eventually win the WCW World Title in November of that year at the first World War 3 in the 60 man 3 ring battle royal. Hogan was yanked out under the bottom rope and was not eliminated technically but it didn't matter to me as Savage was the man to walk out Champion that night and not Hogan! Savage and Flair traded the World Title back and forth a few times with Ric Flair winning the belt at Starcade 95, then Savage regaining it on Nitro a Month later and finally Flair winning it back at Superbrawl 96 after Elizabeth helped Flair, which also got be steamed.

During this time I had also seen the match from WrestleMania 3 with Ricky Steamboat and his WrestleMania 7 match with the Ultimate Warrior, which in my view was the Warrior's greatest match ever!

I remember watching the video package that built the Steamboat-Savage feud and the match itself being really awesome and the pre match interviews with both being really good. The match itself with Steamboat winning the Intercontinental Title is easily one of the greatest WrestleMania matches ever!

The "Career Ending" match at WrestleMania 7 was also a very memorable match, and Elizabeth was at ringside. The match had a lot of great moments in it and I'll never forget Savage giving Warrior FIVE top rope elbow drops and the Warrior kicking out. Finally Warrior got the win and afterwards Sherri began stomping on Savage till Elizabeth had seen enough and came to Savage's rescue running Sherri off. Then Savage came to and saw Elizabeth in the ring and after a bit they hugged and he lifted her up on his shoulder with his theme music playing and alot of fans in the arena getting very choked up, which was really something to see.

Macho Man Randy Savage will always be one my all time favorite wrestlers. He had the in ring talent and was tremendous delevering his promos! Face or heel you knew you were going be very entertained every time The Macho Man came out!

God Bless you Randy Savage! You will be truly missed by everyone who's lives you touched!

OOOHHHHH YEEAHHHH!!!!!!!!

5-19-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 19, 2011 episode of Impact
The “wrestling matters” show starts off WITH AN IN RING PROMO from guess who, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and the rest of Immortal! Yep folks, nothin says wrestling matters like starting the show with the usual Bischoff-Immortal in ring segment! Way to go TNA! Bischoff says that Hulk and Mick are in NYC at some meeting with the “Network” so Immortal is running the show tonight. Brian Kendrick, Amazing Red and Generation Me then come out and Kendrick rags on Bischoff saying that the X-Division talent have been left out in the cold. Bischoff sets up matches for them all except for Kendrick. Immortal then beat on the X-Division guys and Fortune hit the ring for the save. Good brawl to start the show and probably the best part.

Mickie James, Miss Tessmacher & Tara vs. Madison Rayne, Sarita & Rosita. Mickie, Tessmacher & Tara get the win when Tara pins Rosita. Mexican America were on commentary.

Bischoff motivates Abyss backstage for his Title match.

X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian vs. Abyss for the Title. Abyss gets the pin and is the new X-Division Champion. This was a good match and they had some good spots in there.  Nothin against Abyss but I don’t know why put the X Title on him?

Gunner is in the back looking for Eric Young.

Amazing Red vs. Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe gets the win in a real short squash match. Joe continues to beat on Red till Crimson makes the save. Why is Samoa Joe a heel again?

AJ Styles is in the ring with a neck brace and he calls out Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer comes out and they go back and forth on the mic. Dreamer eventually attacks Styles. Christopher Daniels makes the save, then Bully Ray comes out and hits AJ in the back of the neck with a chain and he and Dreamer lay out Daniels and AJ. This was pretty good I thought. Dreamer still cuts a great promo even as a heel.

Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett are in the ring and they go back and forth on the mic and they set up a match at Slammiversary with the becoming the number one contender for the World Title. Kurt says that after what happened at Sacrifice, Karen is out of commission. Jarrett ads a stip, that if he wins, he gets Kurt’s gold medals. Karen then comes out in a wheelchair and Velvet Sky comes out and shoves Karen down the entrance ramp. This feud needed to end back in April. Please let Slammiversary be the end of this idiocy!

Generation Me in the back saying how there is tension between them but they are putting their differences aside for the good of the X-Division.

Eric Bischoff is his office on the phone with Hulk Hogan saying he was gonna knockout some vanilla midgets. That was idiotic! I’m really tired of Bischoff. The guy brings nothing to the table!

The Jarretts are in the back and Jeff is on the phone with Bischoff, who set up a handicap, Velvet vs. Angelina and Winter. Then Jeff and Karen argue. Lame!

Generation Me (who were in the midst of a feud, but are now teaming up again) vs. Matt Hardy and Eric Bischoff. Matt and Bischoff win after Bischoff gets the pin. THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THE X-DIVISION TALENT? By having one of them job to ERIC BISCHOFF!! Yeah, wrestling really matters in TNA!!

Winter and Angelina in the back with Winter saying that after tonight they will no longer have to worry about Velvet. UGH!

Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love and Winter. Velvet pins Angelina for the win. ODB then returns and lays out Velvet. This is another dumb storyline that they gotta end!

Miss Tessmacher is in the back doing a “photo shoot” with Eric Young. This is dumb. Gunner finds him and Eric Young babbles nonsense then Gunner attacks him.

Bobby Roode and Ric Flair are in the ring and they go back and forth on the mic and Immortal eventually attacks Roode and they injure his shoulder as payback for Roode injuring Flair at Lockdown.

Sting does a promo then Ken Anderson comes out to Sting’s theme music and the lights went and when they came back on Ken Anderson, who is dressed up in the old Sting get up attacks Sting from behind.

This certainly wasn’t a show where wrestling mattered! It was the same old crap from TNA we’ve been seeing for months!

5-16-11 Raw Coverage and Thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 16, 2011 episode of Raw

Raw starts with John Cena coming to the ring, but before he can speak, Alex Riley comes out and rags on Cena’s catch phrases and tells him to “take a look at this.” They show clips of Miz beating on Cena. Riley than introduces The Miz. Miz and Riley head to the ring and Riley says that the fans have underestimated Miz from the start and at Over The Limit Miz will prove everyone wrong once again because will never say I quit. Cena says Alex Riley is as stupid as he is useless. Cena then does his typical promo saying what Miz “would never say.” He respects Miz for what he’s accomplished (then why the dumb promo) but there’s a reason why he chose this match and that is because when he looks past the fancy suits and loud mouth bravado he looks in Miz’s eyes and sees fear and that he might say I quit before he gets hurt and after Over The Limit Miz will say I Quit. The Raw GM chimes in and says that Miz can name the opponent and type of match for Cena tonight. Miz hasn’t decided yet, but he says it will be awesome. This was a typical Raw opening.

U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston vs. CM Punk in a Non Title Match. Punk gets the pin in a good match. Punk takes the mic and says what everyone just saw was leadership by example and that he will make sure that Nexus is the most dominant force in WWE.

Kelly Kelly vs. Diva’s Champion Brie Bella in a Non Title Match. Kelly gets the pin a decent match. The Bellas beat down Kelly after the match. Kharma comes out a Bella attacks from behind then gets shoved down and the other one gets slammed and implant busted. The other Bella runs. Kharma then goes and picks up Kelly, gives her a good long stare and Kharma then walked out.

Rey Mysterio comes to the ring and says he came out to speak the truth. He talks about R-Truth attacking him last week. Mysterio then calls out Truth. Commercial break. Back to the show and Rey is still waiting for Truth, but Alberto Del Rio comes out. Alberto says that Mysterio is the reason he’s not challenging Cena and that Rey doesn’t deserve to be on the same show as him because he is a full blooded Mexican unlike the fans in San Antonio. He says this country begged him to come here not like the fans. Mysterio says he’s not gonna let Alberto dis respect his people. He talks in Spanish then says if Truth isn’t coming out, he has no problem shutting Alberto’s mouth.

Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio. Truth comes out in the crowd saying Mysterio stole his spot in the Title match. Mysterio gets the win by DQ in a really good match after Ricardo blocks a 619. Alberto throws Rey face first into the turnbuckle then gives him an elbow. Truth attacks Rey from behind and pounds on him for a bit then lays him out.

Truth gets the mic and asks Rey who he thinks he is, challenging him. No one challenges him, he makes the challenges. He says that this Sunday, Rey’s “gonna get got.” Truth then hit Rey in the head with the mic. Truth continues to impress me with this heal run.

Time for the Jerry Lawler-Michael Cole contract signing. Cole welcomes everyone and yaps some more. Lawler says that he is a man of his word and that if Cole wins he will give him his HOF ring and induct him into the HOF if the day ever came. They both sign then Cole says that the match will be a kiss my foot match. The show the clip of him making Jim Ross kiss his foot. Cole then rags on JR a bit. Cole says he made this match because Lawler knows what this kind of match is like. They show the clip from the 1995 King of The Ring. Cole then shows Lawler his foot and says that he will shove it down his throat. Lawler says that Cole is no Bret Hart or even a Jack Swagger. Lawler says he doesn’t like Swagger but he respects him. He was a world champion and Cole made him is side kick. Cole says no one remembers Swagger being champion. Swagger then gets in Cole’s face and walks out. Cole then says it was all a joke and that he and Lawler go back 14 years and Lawler tells him to stuff it. He yanks him by the tie onto the table and says he’s gonna shut Cole up this Sunday. This segment went on a bit too long. This feud has gone on longer than I expected, and hopefully this will be the end Sunday.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Big Show vs. David Otunga & Michael McGuilltcutty in a Non Title Match. Mason Ryan tries to come in and Big Show spears him. McGuillicutty pinned Kane for the win after Punk kicked Kane in the back of the head.

Kane & Big Show interview in the back. Big Show says tonight’s loss doesn’t affect them and that they’re not giving up the tag titles any time soon. Kane says that Sunday will be Nexus’ annihilation.

Miz comes out to announce who Cena will face and what type of match it will be. He picked a No Holds Barred Match. Cena comes out and Swagger comes out and attacks him and Miz says he’s Cena’s opponent.

John Cena vs. Jack Swagger in a No Holds Barred Match. Cena wins by submission in a good match.

Miz says he wants Cena to cherish this win, because Sunday he will feel emptiness, regret and disappointment. He mentions how there are so many ways to make Cena say I quit, by throwing him off the stage or hitting him with a camera and Miz swings the camera at the stage. He says he could use the steel stairs or use something under the ring. Miz tells Riley to go under the ring and Riley pulls out a pipe. Miz says that’s the typical stuff that he won’t use and that he is more intelligent and ruthless then anyone Cena’s faced and he found a way to make Cena say I quit in a different way and that Sunday he will be WWE Champion. Miz says that he has no problem using the pipe tonight. Miz hits Cena, but Cena gets the upper hand AGAIN and lays out both and Cena says Miz has a hurting coming and will say I quit Sunday.

I thought this week’s show dragged on too long. Too many long promo segments and Cena stands tall at the end once again!

Jersey All Pro-New Japan Rahway show thoughts

I was at the JAPW-NJPW show in Rahway last night. I had a really great time there. The show was about 3 hours and the matches were all really good! I haven't really seen alot of the Japanese wrestlers, but I've heard some of the names. Getting to see them live was really nice. I also got my pic taken with Jushin "Thunder" Liger and Hiroshi Tanahashi during intermisson! That was awesome! They were both really nice guys.  I had really awesome seats too, right by the entrance way!

The show itself was outstanding! The opener was Jushin Liger & Tiger Mask vs. Homicide & Low Ki. This was a great opener with a lot of great spots in there. Getting to see Liger live was a thrill since he's one of the biggest Japanese wrestling legends! Homicide & Low Ki got the win!

Satoshi Kojima fought Kenny Omega in another good match. There were some stiff shots in this one too, real good match. Kojima got the win after a really siff looking clothesline.

The Giant Bernard, Karl Anderson, Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Davey Richards, Jado & Gedo 8 man tag was a great match too. Alot of good spots and they brawled around the ringside area. Giant Bernard and one of the other guys (I think it was Nakamura) came right by me and Bernard threw him into the gaurd rail right where I was standing. Almost got me lol. Davey Richards did alot of comedic selling too. Taguchi had Funky Weapon written on the back of his trunks, so I kept cheering him on saying go funky weapon! Giant Bernard, Karl Anderson, Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi (aka Funky Weapon) won this one. Really fun 8 man tag match. Homicide & Low Ki came out after the match and got involved in the post match brawl and Low Ki said that he and Homicide would be the next IWGP Junior tag team champions.

First round match of the IWGP Intercontinental Title Tournament- Yujiro Takahashi beat Hideo Saito to advance to the Semi-Finals. This was a really good match too.

First round match of the IWGP Intercontinental Title Tournament- Tetsuya Naito beat Josh Daniels in another good match to get to the Semis. Daniels played the heal really well.

Then they had the intermission where I met Liger! That was awesome!!

First round match of the IWGP Intercontinental Title Tournament- Toru Yano beat Dan Maff to go on to the semi finals. This match was a bit weaker then the others, but was still a good match also.

First round match of the IWGP Intercontinental Title Tournament- MVP beat Kazuchika Okada to get to the semis. This was another really good match. MVP looked great here and Okada is really good in the ring. It's a shame that WWE dropped the ball with MVP and an even bigger shame that Okada was stuck playing Samoa Joe's cameraman following D'Angelo Dinero around. TNA really dropped the ball with Okada!

The main event was IWGP Champion Hiroshi Tanashi & Togi Makabe vs. Charlie Hass & Rhino. This was great too. At one point in the match Rhino threw Makabe into the gaurdrail right across from me and the lighting fixture teetered. That was kinda scarry, luckily it didn't fall! The match went close to 20 minutes. Rhino pinned Makabe after a gore for the win.

Overall the whole show was really great and would love to see these guys live again. They know how to deliver a great show. Easily one of the greatest shows I've ever been to!!

5-12-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 12, 2011 episode of Impact

Impact starts with Hulk and Eric in the back talking about the network. More of the usual, Bischoff said they were playing to win. I’m really sick of these 2 guys!

The Jarretts come to the ring and Jeff says that they are offering Kurt Angle a truce. Jeff says for Karen to be put in harm’s way at Sacrifice is terribly wrong. He says that the thought of Kurt and his “mistress” would harm “the queen of the mountain” is an absolute crime. Karen says that she has been a caring and giving ex-wife and a good mom and that everything going on is a misunderstanding and that the restraining order they hit him with was for his own well being or whatever. Kurt Angle comes out and says it’s done and that he would Karen realize not to push him the way she has but she and Jeff have been pressing the right buttons. He says he doesn’t know why he married her and Jeff will eventually realize that she is pure evil. He then says that there will be tag match at Sacrifice. Kurt said the Network wanted to be the ones to introduce her and that Jeff knows who she is. If you read the spoilers you know who it is. Not a bad promo from Kurt, but this feud is really idiotic.

Mickie James & Miss Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne & Tara. Mickie & Tessmacher get the win when Tessmacher pins Madison. Decent short Knockouts match. Madison and Tara bicker a bit afterwards.

Flair and Hogan in the back with Hogan blaming Flair for being the Network rep. Flair says Hogan is bigger than the network. Hogan apologizes and they say that they will get it done. This was ridiculous. I’m so tired of seeing Hogan, Bischoff and Flair taking up TV time!

Tara promo saying that she’s had it with Madison and Madison comes by and says that after she beats Mickie, not only will she win back her Knockouts Title, but that Tara’s life will be miserable.

Dreamer is in the back and says that there are a lot of things that go on after the show airs. The cameraman wants to know Tommy turned heal. Dreamer runs into AJ and tells him he’s too young to understand what he’s going through. AJ says that he is a grown man and has 3 kids and mentions that he stuck a fork in his eye. AJ challenges Dreamer to a match at Sacrifice. Dreamer says that maybe no one ever really knew who he was. This made absolutely no sense what so ever!

Sting taking pics with the belt then mentions that his hands are full with RVD and that he will be fighting for his life. He mentions that the network rep was coming soon and that it will be show time.

Beer Money come out and Roode calls Matt Hardy and his mystery partner out. They figure he picked Jeff. Roode says to come out so they can accept his challenge face to face. Matt says he was impressed with Roode that he called out Hogan last week and that Matt has noticed him since. Matt rags on Storm for a bit, then calls Beer Money worthless. Matt rags on Beer Money some more and says he will put them in their place at Sacrifice. Storm says Matt’s wasting the people’s time and telling them what they already know. Storm says he doesn’t go around dis respecting people like Matt’s been doing. Matt rags on ‘em some more, then Storm tells Matt off. Matt talks some more and says that this Sunday his partner is not Jeff, but someone who knows them very well. Matt’s partner Chris Harris then comes out and he and Storm have a stare down. Beer Money’s a great tag team and they were great on the mic as usual. Matt however was his usual idiotic self and he is another guy that I am really tired of seeing. I’ve never been a Hardy fan and I never will be cause they’re both really messed up idiots! Chris Harris wasn’t looking too great either.

Sangriento vs. Suicide. Sangriento gets the pin in a really good match. This was one of the few good parts of the show, then right after the match ends…

Hulk, Eric and Flair then come out Flair went low on Suicide. Hulk says the games are over and babbles some more and says that he runs TNA and he wants the network rep to come out, but first we have a commercial break!! GET THIS CRAP OVERWITH ALREADY!!!!

Back to the show with the Jarretts also in the ring. Hogan says he wants the network rep to come out. Out comes Mick Foley. Mick talks about how a few months back everything was going Immortal’s way, but then some one started to things around and that that someone is him. Mick shoves Eric down and gets in Hogan’s face some more and says the show’s no longer about him, but about wrestling and that wrestling once again matters. Mick says that this show is no longer TNA, but is called Impact Wrestling. Mick says that there will be a 25 man Battle Royal to see who will challenge for the World Title after Sacrifice. Chyna then comes out and is revealed as Kurt’s partner! This is the worse part I was talking about. NONE of this made any sense to me! They’re going to be more about wrestling by having more talking! That’s TNA folks! They let a great wrestler in Jay Lethal go as a “cost cutting move” and they bring in CHYNA? What is she gonna bring to the table? TNA is WORSE than ever!!

Mick and Chyna are in the back and Mick says that it is great to be back. He then talks about the Battle Royal for later on in the show.

Ken Anderson promo and says that pro wrestling is real and people are fake just like Mick Foley, the guy who kept screwing him out of his re match. Anderson says that he will win the Battle Royal.

They run down the line up for Sacrifice this Sunday.

Crimson vs. Abyss vs. Samoa Joe. Crimson pins Joe for the win. This was a short match that was just kinda there. Joe was about to attack Crimson from behind, but Abyss attacked Crimson first. Joe walked out and Abyss beats on Crimson.

RVD promo talking about the Battle Royal and says he will win the Title Sunday.

Time for the 25 man Battle Royal. Eric Young eliminated Gunner then took the TV Title thinking he won it. Gunner chased him to the back. James Storm and Matt Hardy eliminated each other and Matt pulled Roode out. Dreamer eliminated AJ, then Bully Ray eliminated Dreamer. Jarrett eliminated Kurt and celebrated with Karen thinking he won, then Chyna comes in and throws Jarrett out. She grabs Karen by the throat but Jeff got her out of there and the Jarretts head for the back. Anderson eliminated Bully Ray for the win. Battle Royals are usually really fun and this one was a fun one to watch. Anderson’s mic lowers and he says that he finally got his re match.

Sting says he’s happy for Ken and that he will shut Ken’s mouth. RVD comes in and says that he has to get through him first. Anderson then comes in and says he doesn’t care who wins because come Slammiversary he will be in rare form.

This week’s show was mostly a lot of typical TNA nonsense, and the Battle Royal was easily the best part of the show!

5-9-11 Raw coverage and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 9, 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw

Raw begins with Alberto Del Rio saying that his destiny to be World Champion was stolen and how last week should’ve been a celebration for his raw “debut” and that there is no one better than him and that he should face John Cena for the WWE Title. Rey Mysterio comes out and says that Del Rio’s destiny isn’t to be Champion but to one be Ricardo’s ring announcer. Then he challenges him to match for the number 1 contender spot. Alberto was about to accept when The Miz came out and that Raw is still is show and the WWE Championship is his Title and he blames Alex Riley for not being Champion. Alberto says that Miz had his chance. Miz says that he should be facing Cena for the Title. R-Truth comes out saying the truth has set him free. He says that everyone is spilling hate, he will spill some of his own and he says that he hates hospital food, that you never get it when you want it and that John Morrison is eating a lot of hospital food right now because of Truth’s attack from last Monday. He says he doesn’t have any problem making sure the others in the ring are in the hospital either. Truth says he’s not waiting in line for a Title match and that he will be facing Cena “and that’s the truth.” The Raw GM chimes in saying that there will be a triple threat match tonight to see who will challenge Cena for the Title at Over The Limit. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz. Truth looked really upset saying that he got screwed again, saying that he’s better than all of them especially Rey. Rey says Truth shouldn’t be involved in the match and “that’s what’s up” and “that’s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.” Truth walks out all pissed. Miz says he doesn’t care what Del Rio accomplished on Smackdown and that he and Rey take a back seat to him and is about to say he will be the next champion but Ricardo announces that Del Rio will be. Del Rio and Miz go at it a bit and Mysterio dives on Del Rio and Miz on the outside. This was a solid opening segment. Miz and Alberto continue to be really good jerk heals. I thought Truth’s promo this week wasn’t as good this week.

The Bella Twins vs. Eve Torres & Kelly Kelly. Kelly & Eve get the win after Kelly pins 1 of the Bellas. Typical Divas match. Kharma comes out and the Bellas run to the back, while Kelly & Eve are frozen in the ring. Kelly bailed, but Eve got close lined. She was going to go after Kelly but she ran to the back. Kharma then gives Eve the implant buster.

Kane and Big Show in the back walking to the ring for the next match.

Kane vs. Mayson Ryan. Punk tripped Kane and Big Show KO’d Punk. Kane gets the win by DQ when the other Nexus members come out. Kane tosses Otunga and Kane and Big Show double choke slam Ryan. This was a so so match. Mayson Ryan is kinda green still.

Santino Marella vs. Dolph Ziggler. Vickie Guerrero came out to introduce Dolph. She is a really good heal too. Dolph gets the pin a short decent match. Hopefully this is the start of a re-push for him.

R-Truth is in the back still upset. He says it’s a conspiracy and that he gets notes from parents to go back to his old gimmick. He said that no one took him seriously but this is all going to change. R-Truth is really doing a great job as a heal.

John Cena and Zack Ryder are in the back fist pumping for some reason and Cena is on his way to the ring.

Miz and Alex Riley in the back. They argued about what happened last week after the Cena-Miz match. Miz tells Riley that he hasn’t got any brains. Alex continues apologizing and says he was going to make it up to Miz. Alex Riley goes out to the ring and says the only person that he cares about is Miz and that he will prove it by challenging John Cena to a match. Cena comes out and the match is on.

John Cena vs. Alex Riley. Cena gets the win by submission with the STF. Miz came to ring side and he and Cena had a stare down.

Michael Cole is in the ring and says that after beating Lawler twice it can’t any higher for him. He decides to announce that he is retiring from in ring competition. He says that when he goes into the WWE Hall Of Fame he wants to be inducted as a superstar and broad caster. Lawler gets in the ring and Cole reminds him that he will be canned if he strikes Cole. Lawler said that did not apply with The Rock last week. They replay the clip from last week with Cole getting Rock Bottomed. Lawler says that if the day ever came that Cole would be a Hall OF Famer life would cease to exist as we know it. Lawler than says that if Cole beat him in another match he would personally induct him into the WWE hall of fame and he would give him his HOF ring. Cole says no then says that Lawler couldn’t let Cole retire in peace and that he had to steal the spot light. He then rags on the Tennessee fans, and mentions that that Lawler lost twice. He said that for mother’s day he and his mom watched his WrestleMania match. Cole continues to rag on Lawler and Lawler goes after him, but Jack Swagger gets him from behind. Cole does a really great job playing the jerk heal.

U.S Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger for the Title. Kofi gets the pin in a really good match. Lawler comes out and throws Swagger over the ring barrier, then he grabs Michael Cole by the tie and rams him into the Cole mine. Swagger takes the Mic and says Lawler is “fired” because he touched Cole. Lawler said he never touched Cole, just his tie. Swagger says Lawler made Cole a first ballot Hall Of Famer and accepts the match for Cole for a match with Lawler. Cole flips out asking Swagger why he would do this.

Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz. Miz pins Mysterio for the win in a great match. Alex Riley came out during the match and yanked Alberto out of the ring when Rey had him pinned. Cena comes out and congratulates Miz, then says how Miz always has excuses for not being Champion. Cena says that he has picked the stip for their match at Over The Limit, and it will be an I Quit match. R-Truth lays out Rey Mysterio in the ring and says “Now that’s what’s up!”

I thought the show was good on the whole. The Kofi-Swagger and the triple threat matches were the best parts of the show.

5-6-11 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 6, 2011 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Christian in the ring saying how great it is to finally be World Champion and thanked Edge and his peeps. Mark Henry then came out and said he wants a Title match. Great Khali comes out and wants a Title match also. Randy Orton then comes out and also asks for a Title match. Teddy Long comes out and lets the fans decide who they want to see Christian defend the Title against. The fans go with Orton, so it will be Christian vs. Orton for the World Title in the main event. Good opening segment.

Khali and Ranjin run into Jindar Mahal in the back and Ranjin says how great it is to have him on Smackdown and Jindar says things are going to get better.

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus. Sheamus gets the pin a real good match.

Cody Rhodes comes and talks about how Rey Mysterio brunt his eyes at Extreme Rules after being sprayed with the mist and said Rey showed how gutless and desperate he was. But thankfully he no longer has to deal with him cause Rey was drafted to Raw. He then had his assistants hand out the paper bags to the fans and he said their ugliness offends him. Great promo from Cody. He is really impressing me with this new character.

Big Show vs. Ezekiel Jackson. The other Corre guys attack Kane and Big Show makes the save, then gets back in the ring and Jackson gets the pin after a big boot. After the match Barrett and Jackson had words and Jackson walked out. This was a decent solid match. I think Jackson has lots of potential.

Layla vs. Alicia Fox. Layla gets the pin in a pretty short match. Kharma comes out and Layla bails. Alicia kicks Kharma from behind, goes for a second kick but Kharma clotheslines Alicia and then flattened her with the implant buster. Layla watched from the ramp terrified and ran to the back.

The Corre has words with Zeke backstage, Zeke goes on the attack and eventually gets triple teamed. Looks like Zeke is a face now. I’m curious to see how he will be in the face roll.

Chavo Guerrero is on commentary for Sin Cara vs. Tyson Kidd. Cara gets the pin in a really good match. Chavo comes in the ring and shakes Cara’s hand.

Todd Grisham asks Teddy Long if he thinks it is unfair for Christian to defend the World Title just after Extreme Rules. Long said this was about what the fans want to see and that there was a WWE Title match on Raw the next night after the PPV so he wanted to make Smackdown fun and exciting.

World Champion Christian vs. Randy Orton for the Title. Orton gets the pin to win the Title in a really good match. After the match Christian sits in the ring for a bit, in disbelief. The fans chant his name and he walks to the back.

That’s this week’s show. Overall I thought is a good episode, but I don’t get why they took the Title off Christian just 2 days after winning it.

John Cena is WWE Champion on Raw and Randy Orton is World Champion on Smackdown. These are 2 guys that do not need the Title to get over! I know that Vince doesn’t see Christian as World Title material, but they should’ve kept the Title on Christian for at least a week. The same with Miz, they shouldn’t have taken the Title off him either.

5-5-11 Coverage and Impact thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 5, 2011 episode of Impact

Sorry this is going up late, but I lost power last night and had to watch the show on youtube this morning.

Impact starts with Hulk Hogan and Immortal in the ring and RVD & Sting come out but are stopped by TNA security’s Al Snow, D-Lo Brown and Simon Diamond. Hulk gets the mic and says he’s tired of the network playing mind games and wants Sting to tell him who it is. Sting says that he or she will reveal themselves next week. Immortal takes out the security, RVD & Sting hit the ring then Fortune comes out and a brawl begins. Immortal bails and Roode takes the mic saying that he has had it with Hulk Hogan and how he ruined TNA. He says that he has something that Hogan doesn’t and that is pride. He says that he is proud that he gets in the ring and works his rear end off not just for himself or the fans but for everyone in TNA. He says that Hogan fired his good friend Jay Lethal, a guy who always works hard and did what was always asked of him good or bad. Roode then says that he will be the guy to stand up to Hulk and everything will change next week. Really great promo from Roode here. Jay Lethal is a great talent and to let him go was one of many stupid TNA decisions!

The Jarretts are in the back and they knock on Velvet’s door saying they know that she’s Kurt’s “mistress”. Velvet says she’s not and Karen tells her to get her gear and meet her later in the ring saying she has an offer for Velvet that she can’t refuse. Lame! This whole storyline with Kurt Angle and the Jarretts has gotten beyond dumb and if you haven’t read the spoilers it gets worse next week.

Matt Hardy promo in the back, saying that he’s going to call up a friend of his and they will challenge Beer Money for the Tag Team Titles at Sacrifice. Decent promo from Matt.

Christie is doing the ring announcing this week too.

Sangrieto (Amazing Red in a lucha costume) vs. Suicide. Sangrieto get the pin in a good match after a spring board diamond cutter.

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are in their office complaining and worrying about who the network is, and wondering if it could be Ric Flair, but they said he plays dirtier than that. They say they’re going to look at the entire TNA roster to find out who it could be.

Mexican America are in the ring celebrating Cinco Del Mayo with piƱatas and the Mexican flag. They have the Spanish announce team come to the ring to celebrate and they go after Willie Urbina for being Puerto Rican and not Mexican. Hector Guerrero defends him and Anarquia says that they will bury both of them under the American flag. Ink Inc comes to the ring and brawl for a bit with Mexican America before and heals bail. Jessie Neal gets the Mic and says that no one dis respects America and that as long as there are Americans like him willing to fight for their country that the U.S will always belong to Americans. Good promo from Jessie Neal and the only good part about this whole idiotic storyline.

AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. Bully Ray & TV Champion Gunner. This was a good match too. Ray gets his chain and goes to hit AJ with it, but Tommy Dreamer comes out and then pile drives AJ. I don’t know why they turned Dreamer heal, another dumb move from TNA. Bully Ray talks into the camera saying he’s going make AJ wish he never messed with him.

Tommy Dreamer was in the back knocking a few tables over and having a fit.

AJ Styles and Fortune talk in the back wondering why Dreamer turned heal. AJ then said that either they will get answers or Dreamer will get a beating.

Bully Ray & Matt Hardy promo saying that Dreamer made the right choice and did what he had to.

Winter gives Angelina her “medicine”. Ugh!

The Jarretts come to the ring and call out Velvet. Velvet comes out and Karen rags on her saying she’s never been Knockout’s Champion, so she became Kurt’s “mistress” to get ahead. She and Velvet go back and forth on the mic, the whole thing is just really, really stupid. Karen says that Jeff knows people in high places and they’ve arranged Velvet vs. Winter & Angelina in a handicap match. Winter & Angelina come to the ring and Karen tells them to take Velvet out. Kurt Angle then comes to the ring and says that he spoke to the Network and they made the handicap match a mixed tag handicap math, with it being Kurt and Velvet vs. Jeff, Winter and Angelina. Velvet then says that after she takes care of her former BFF, she’s coming for Karen next. This whole segment was extremely painful to watch!

Eric is in the back complaining that Kurt made the match then makes a match with Murphy & Rob Terry with the loser being out of Immortal. I’m really getting tired of Easy E too!

Crimson is in the back with a sledge hammer looking for Samoa Joe.

Murphy vs. Rob Terry-Loser Leaves Immortal. Rob Terry gets the win in a dull match. Murphy’s out of Immortal.

Hulk and Eric are in their office still trying find out who is running the network, saying it could be someone they least expect.

Back to Crimson backstage where he finds Samoa Joe and says that if he sees Joe getting his head stomped that he will walk just like Joe did to him. Joe said that he never asked for assistance back when he was undefeated. Crimson says that he doesn’t and is not asking for Joe’s assistance and for Joe to stay out of his way. I’m not really getting whole feud either.

Knockouts Champion Mickie James vs. Miss Tessmacher for the Title. Mickie gets the pin in a decent match. Madison Rayne then comes out and challenges Mickie to a rematch for the Title at Sacrifice. Mickie accepts, but ads a stip that if Madison loses, Tara no longer has to work for Madison. Madison agrees.

Eric Bischoff is getting coffee and Brian Kendrick along a few other X Division guys come up to him and ask why Jay Lethal’s gone and why they’re never being used. Bischoff tells them to get taller and bigger. Yep folks, that what Eric said. That was really idiotic. Also it looked like the Bucks were standing around with Amazing Red while Kendrick was talking to Bischoff. Aren’t Max and Jeremy currently at odd with each other? Come on TNA that was ridiculous.

They show a video package with comments from RVD & Sting talking about their World Title match at Sacrifice. This was put together really well I thought.

Kurt Angle & Velvet Sky vs. Jeff Jarrett, Winter & Angelina Love. Kurt and Velvet get the win when Velvet pins Winter after a double DDT on both her and Angelina. Kurt says that he will reveal who his mistress is next week. If you read the spoilers, you know who it is.

Hulk and Eric in the back AGAIN saying that maybe Russo is the network guy. They walk to their car and it has “You’re Next” spray painted on it. They begin to worry if Goldberg is coming. After they drive off we found that Kendrick and the other X Division guys spray painted it.

That’s this week’s Impact. Over all I found it to be a really painful show to watch this week. That’s typical TNA for you.

5-2-11 results and thoughts on the happy b-day Rock episode of Raw

Coverage and thoughts on the May 2, 2011 Rock Birthday Celebration episode of Monday Night Raw

The show started with Lillian Garcia singing the National Anthem. She was really great as always! Very fitting way to start the show!

The Rock comes out and says he’s got one thing to say, “We got him!” Rock thanks the people who fight for the U.S. every day and every night and that he’s proud to be an American and he along the crowd says the Pledge of Allegiance. Really classy moment! He says it’s good to be home. Hey delivers his always outstanding promo, about how he was born in Miami, went to College there and won the Orange Bowl and then on to WWE. He was about to say the “if ya smell” but the Raw GM chimed in. Michael Cole goes to read it but The Rock stops him saying that he has the nerve to interrupt Rock on his B-Day and said that he should get in the ring and deliver the message to Rock’s face. Cole says no and Rock talks about his wins at Mania and Extreme Rules, then says that he can get in the ring or go back into his Cole Mine. Cole says he isn’t scared of anything and is not the kid he knew and that he’s a man and a winner these days. Cole takes his shirt off and has a Celtics jersey underneath and rags on the fans. Cole gets in the ring and says the Raw GM an apology because he embarrassed him at Mania and if Rock doesn’t apologize, he’s shutting down the show. Cole then says that he also wants an apology from Rock. Rock says Cole is right in that he has dis respected the GM and Cole and apologizes. Rock offers Cole his hand and he and Cole shake hands and Cole thanks Rock. Rock then says thank you to Michael Cole and then gives him a Rock Bottom and the People’s Elbow. Rock then brings out some local DJ or something named Pit bull and he wishes Rock happy b-day then sings in Spanish and the Miami Heat cheerleaders come out. Really great back and forth with Rock and Cole. Rock was his usual charismatic self and Cole continued to be the jerk heal, which he is great at being. The DJ and cheerleaders however was just out right painful to watch and really ended the segment on bad note.

John Morrison comes out for a match but gets attacked from behind by R-Truth. Truth lays him out and referees come to kick Truth out. The referees help Morrison to the back and Truth comes back out and lays him out a second time on the entrance ramp. Good way to keep this feud going. Truth has really shown a lot as a heal.

Time for the first match of the show. Maryse vs. Kelly Kelly. The match barely gets started and Kharma comes out. Kelly is terrified as Kharma gets in the ring. Kharma then flattens Maryse, then stares down Kelly, but she walks out. This was a good bit for Kharma, showing that she’s a monster.

Miz and Alex Riley in the back with Miz asking where Alex was when he lost the belt at Extreme Rules. Miz chews out Riley and says that no one will be talking about Rock’s B-Day at the end of the night but about Miz once again being WWE Champion. Good promo from the Miz.

Rock in the back for his B-Day celebration with the Divas about the President and his wife wished him a happy b-day, then Talks to Teddy Long, then runs into Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella who’s dressed in some costume likely from Rocks movie, then Hornswoggle comes in as the scorpion king, then Great Khali comes in as the tooth fairy. Ron Simmons shows up and says his favorite word. I wasn’t really into this. The under card comedy acts in the backstage skits usually aren’t my favorite parts of the show. Hornswoggle and Khali are really stale. Kozlov bores me too. Santino can sometimes be funny, other times he can be idiotic with his goofiness.

WWE Champion John Cena vs. The Miz for the Title. This was a really good match. Miz gets the pin after hitting Cena with the belt. The referee sees the belt in the ring and reverses the decision and Cena retains the Title by DQ. Cena gives Riley and Miz Attitude Adjustments. I don’t know why they put the Title back on Cena, he doesn’t need it. I really hope this isn’t the start of a de push for Miz.

They show the video of John Cena from after Extreme Rules saying that the U.S. got him. Cena says he is proud to be an American.

Alberto Del Rio comes out to do some commentary.

Ray Mysterio & Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger & Drew McIntyre. Really good match with Rey and Kofi getting the win after Rey pinned McIntyre. Mysterio and Alberto have a stare down afterwards.

Rock’s B-Day celebration and he is talking with Christian and congratulates him on winning the World Title. Dolph and Vicki then come in with a giant cake and Mae Young is standing behind it. Rock says that Vikki will never look as good as Mae, what ever, and that it was good to see Mae and he plants one on her, ugh! Cena comes in and says he brought a gift, the WWE Title he got Rock the greatest gift and says he will be Champion at WrestleMania 28 and that if Rock wants the belt he will have to get through him. Rock says just bring it and Cena wishes him happy birthday. This was a mixed bag segment. The Mae stuff was bad, but Rock talking with Christian and the face off with Cena was good.

Kane vs. Mason Ryan. Kane wins by DQ after CM Punk gets in the ring. McGillicutty & Otunga come out and attack Kane a bit, Kane then goes for a Choke Slam on Ryan but he blocks him. Nexus attack Kane then Big Show comes out and cleans house on Nexus, then Ryan lays out Big Show with a shoulder block.

The Rock comes back out to the ring and says before the big finale he thanks the fans for making this one of the greatest b-days. He thanks his family that is in the arena and at home and thanks WWE. Rock says that next years WrestleMania will be biggest Mania of all time. Vince McMahon comes out and wishes Rock happy b-day and thanks him for his respect, his love of life and for being The Rock. Vince thanks Rock for coming home and they have a video of clips of Rock and his family with the song I’m Coming Home. This was a really well done video package. They showed some of Rock’s football days and his early days in WWE. Really well done. Then some singer named Maya comes out and says it was a special night and sings happy b-day to Rock. The Rock thanks his family and the fans and says his “If ya smell what the Rock is cookin’” line! Confetti and balloons come down from the ceiling and Rock poses in the ring and the pyro goes off. Really great way to end the show.

This was a good episode of Raw. There were some good matches, some hokey back stage bits and the Rock’s celebration at the end was really good!
