10-26-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 26, 2012 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Randy Orton coming to the ring. He came out tonight to set the record straight. Most of the fans if not all of think that he despises Alberto Del Rio because Del Rio attacked him last month. That’s not entirely true. It’s not because Del Rio attacked him, it’s why Del Rio attacked him. If Del Rio would have stated that because of his failed attempt at beating Sheamus for the World Title he was trying to make the fans forget what a disappointment he was that would have been 1 thing. But Del Rio attacked Orton after Orton fought Big Show and tried to look like a tough guy. Del Rio made 2 critical mistakes. Del Rio wasn’t honest and he picked the wrong guy to try and make an example out of. Then Orton says that this Sunday he will give Del Rio the single most brutal beating of his life. Del Rio likes to call himself the new Apex Predator of the WWE. Orton says that’s probably the biggest lie of all. Once he gets Del Rio in the ring with him…Then out come Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio mentions that Orton says that Del Rio isn’t very honest. Del Rio tells Orton that he’s not very smart. Last week Del Rio said they would do this on his terms, not Orton’s. In 2 days Del Rio will show the world that Orton is not a viper. Orton is nothing but a garden snake & Del Rio can crush him with his boot in any moment. Del Rio then says that he is the new Apex Predator in WWE. Then Ricardo does the Orton pose (that was comical). Orton says that he understands Del Rio but in case the fans in Providence don’t Orton will translate for Del Rio. Orton says that Del Rio is saying that he has big talk when Orton is not in the building. Del Rio’s got big talk when there’s safe distance between him & Orton. Orton then says that Del Rio is no predator. Del Rio is nothing but a spineless bottom feeder with no cajones. Del Rio asks Orton if he thinks he is afraid of him Del Rio they will do this when he wants, and he’s just decided that Orton’s time is up. Ricardo wants Del Rio to get in the ring but Del Rio remains on the stage. Orton asks him what he’s waiting for. Del Rio says not yet but he will see him Sunday. Then Del Rio & Ricardo walk to the back. Then Wade Barrett comes in from behind and hits Orton in the back. Then Barrett backs up the ramp and taunts Orton. This was a decent way to kick off the show.

Del Rio & Ricardo are backstage and Teddy Long comes by. He asks Del Rio if he’s feeling after what he just pulled out there. Del Rio says he wasn’t even there. Then Wade Barrett comes in and asks Del Rio if that us what he was looking for. Then Long says that Del Rio can’t fool anybody. Then Long tells Barrett that he doesn’t know if him attacking Orton is what Del Rio was looking for but he will tell Barrett what Booker T is looking for. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett tonight. Long walks off and Barrett has a smirk on his face. This was a decent backstage bit.

Daniel Bryan & Damien Sandow are on commentary for the next match.

Kane vs. Cody Rhodes. Kane gets the pin. This was a solid match.

Big Show is in the locker room and Booker T comes in. Booker tells Big Show that he will be face to face with Sheamus later tonight. Booker needs them both to handle themselves with some professionalism. Booker saw what happened on Monday. Big Show tells Booker to save his breath. Show proved what he had to prove Monday night when he choke slammed Sheamus. He has nothing else to prove till Sunday. Big Show tells Booker that there won’t be any trouble from him. He then says that Booker won’t get any trouble with Sheamus either because right now Sheamus is scared. Tonight Booker will get the hype & Sunday he will get a new World Champion. This was a good promo.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. The Miz. Miz gets the pin. This was a decent match. Tatsu got in some offense here.

They reshow the end of Raw when Ryback came to the ring during the Sheamus-Punk match. Then they show Paul Heyman’s promo from Main Event.

They reshow the Kaitlyn-Eve Torres backstage bit from Raw, which was followed by Layla coming by.

Booker T is in the GM office with Layla, Kaitlyn, Aksana & Eve. He tells Aksana that he needs the truth. He asks Aksana if Eve send her an e-mail. Aksana says no. It was a text message. Then Layla & Kaitlyn scream Eve saying they knew it. Booker shuts them up. Then in comes Teddy Long. Long tells Booker that it’s real simple. Last month at Night of Champions Kaitlyn was supposed to face Layla. However Eve sent Aksana a text message to take Kaitlyn out. This forced Booker in a position to replace Kaitlyn at the last minute. Long says that Eve’s plan worked perfectly. She played innocent and won the Divas title. Then Long tells Eve that the jig is up. She is exposed for who she really is. A bold faced lair. Layla applauds. Booker tells Eve that if this is true then he can no longer have her as a part of his staff. Eve has a confession to make. She says that she is too trusting. She leaves her I pad and I phone out (why would you just leave them lying around?) and doesn’t have any pass codes. If anyone wanted to use and got a hold of it they could have. She then tells Booker that she had nothing to do with this but she thinks that somebody else did. She looks at Long. Long says he doesn’t know why she’s looking at him. Then Layla & Kaitlyn shout at Eve. Booker shuts them up again. He says he’s sick of all this drama (I’m sick of this whole angle). Right now Booker doesn’t know who to believe. What he does know is this. Kaitlyn & Layla have been talking about getting a rematch for Eve’s Divas title. Now they got it. This Sunday at the PPV. Triple Threat rules. Layla vs. Kaitlyn vs. Eve. Then Booker says that since everyone is dressed to compete Layla & Kaitlyn will face Aksana & Eve tonight. He tells the Divas to beat it. They walk out. Then Booker & Long look at each other. This segment was lame.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett. Barrett gets the pin. This was a really good match. Del Rio & Ricardo came out and distracted Orton. That led to Barrett getting the pin. Afterwards Del Rio gets in the ring and beats on Orton. He gets Orton in a corner and goes for a kick but Orton ducks. Then Del Rio kicks Orton in the gut. Then he goes for the cross arm breaker but Orton counters. Then he goes for an RKO but Del Rio shoves him off and rolls out of the ring

Layla & Kaitlyn vs. Aksana & Divas Champion Eve Torres. Aksana & Eve win when Eve pins Kaitlyn. Layla went to kick Eve but Eve ducked and Layla wound up kicking Kaitlyn my mistake. Then Eve chucked Layla out of the ring and then covered Kaitlyn for the win. This was decent.

Time for the Raw Rebound.

Booker T walks up to Sheamus backstage. Booker needs Sheamus to promise him that he will keep a cool head when he goes face to face with Big Show later. Booker mentions that Big Show will. Sheamus asks, “And you believed him?” Sheamus says that lie is bigger than Big Show is. Sheamus says that he respects Booker but as far as tonight goes Sheamus can’t promise Booker anything. This was decent.

Daniel Bryan is backstage. Kane comes in. Daniels asks him, “What?” Kane says that he won his match Daniel says, “So?” Kane says that he knows that he is not the weak link of their team. Kane says that if he won his match and Daniel loses his it’s pretty obvious who the real tag team champions is. Then Kane says, “No pressure.” Then Daniel Bryan’s music plays. Kane tells him that’s Daniel’s cue. Kane slaps him on the behind and Daniel says no.

Damien Sandow comes out. “Allow me to beg your indulgences for a moment. This craze sweeping the nation is a direct reflection of the poor mental state of each and every one of you. Why are you all so enamored with such a simple word like yes? There are far more sophisticated ways to respond in the affirmative. Example, ‘absolutely, I am more handsome than Daniel Bryan’ ‘Undoubtedly by beard is more sophisticated than Daniel Bryan’s’ And indubitably Team Rhodes Scholars will walk away this Sunday with the WWE Tag Team Titles. And that is not a yes or no question. You’re welcome.” Really good promo from Sandow.

Kane & Cody Rhodes are on commentary for the next match. Kane never spoke. I don’t know why they have a guy come to do commentary and then the guy doesn’t say anything. Why bother with the headset then?

Daniel Bryan vs. Damien Sandow. Sandow gets the pin. This was a solid match. Cody took his headset off. Daniel shoved Cody. That distraction allowed Sandow to clothesline Daniel. Then Kane goes after Sandow and while that happened Cody threw Daniel Bryan into the ring post and then threw him back in the ring. Then Sandow got back in the ring too and hit Daniel with a neck breaker for the win.

Josh Mathews is in the ring with security. He says that in less than 48 hours at the hell in a cell PPV the fans will bare witness to a clash of epic proportions. For the first time, Sheamus goes 1 on 1 with Big Show. Then out comes Sheamus. Before Big Show comes out Josh says that Show is the self professed possessor of the most lethal move in WWE the knockout punch.  Then out comes Big Show. Big Show says that there is nothing self professed about his KO punch being the most devastating finisher in WWE history. The KO punch is stronger than Te Rock’s Rock Bottom, stronger than Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Stunner, stronger than Cena’s AA and we’ve clearly seen through scientific evidence that his KO punch is clearly more powerful than Sheamus’ Brogue Kick. There’s nothing self professed about that. Sheamus tells Show that if he wants to believe that his KO punch is the most lethal maneuver in WWE he can go ahead and think it. He tells Show to feed his ego but for that knockout punch to be lethal Show has to hit someone with it. Sheamus then says that at hell in a cell he guarantees…Big Show cuts him off and says that Sheamus will fail like he did before. Show asks Sheamus if he’s forgotten what happened the last time he tried to Brogue Kick Big Show. They reshow Big Show blocking the kick from 3weeks ago. Then Big Show says that Sheamus’ boot got right to about Show’s chest. That’s not high enough for Sheamus to kick Big Show’s head off his shoulders. For the Brogue Kick to be affective he has to put his boot in his opponent’s face. Show then tells Sheamus that it’s a matter of physics. Show is a giant. Sheamus doesn’t have what it takes to Brogue Kick him in the head and Sheamus definitely doesn’t have what it takes to beat Big Show. If Sheamus thinks that he is going to walk into the PPV and kick Big Show’s head off his shoulders, then Sheamus is either stupid or delusional. Sheamus says there’re 2 things that he loves in this life. 1 is a nice cold pint of some drink on a hot day (they had to throw that corny line in there). The other is a great fight. Sheamus then says that when he saw Big Show become the number 1 contender by knocking out Randy Orton his mouth began to water “Fella.” That’s because he got an opportunity to face a giant. A monster who has dominated WWE for more than a decade (well, not throughout his whole run). Sheamus then says that Show is a monster who held this very title that’s on Sheamus’ shoulder in his first day in the business. Sheamus then says that is what legends are made of. That’s a challenge and Sheamus strives for a challenge. Sheamus then says that there is no bigger challenge than Big Show. Sheamus then says that ever since he won the Title at WrestleMania he has defeated everybody that has come up and faced him. Then Sheamus says that Big Show is another animal all together. Big Show is a giant, a mountain and Sheamus says that Big Show is a mountain that he will conquer. Big Show tells Sheamus that he is not going to conquer him. He says that Sheamus is delusional. Sheamus says that he has never been more ready in his entire life. Then Big Show says that Sheamus thinks that he is ready but he’s not. Big Show says that Sheamus is scared. He can see it in his eyes. Sheamus asks Show if he looks scared. Then Sheamus says that if he has to chop down Big Show to Brogue Kick him then that’s exactly what he is going to do. If he has to hit him with 1,2, 3 or 5 or 10 Brogue Kicks to put Big Show down for good then that is exactly what he will do. It’s not going to be easy but a challenge this size never is. Then Sheamus says that it has been more than a month since he found out that he will face Big Show at the PPV. There’s been a lot of talk, messing and playing, but Sheamus has counted every single minute of every day and right now they’re 48 hours away from hell in a cell. The time for talking is over and the time for fighting is now. Then Sheamus goes through security and after Big Show. Sheamus punches him in the corner for a bit but security pulls him off. Then Sheamus & Big Show both take out the security guys. Then Sheamus goes to Brogue Kick Big Show but Show roles out of the ring. Sheamus wants Show to get back in the ring, but Show stands in front the ramp and tells Sheamus that he will see him Sunday. Then Sheamus gave a security guy a brogue Kick. Then Sheamus screams, “FELLA” to Big Show. Big Show & Sheamus then stare at each other to end the show. I thought this was a solid segment and a decent way to build up to their match.

I thought this was a decent show overall. I was ok with the Orton-Del Rio segment that started the show and the Wade Barrett sneak attack was alright. I also thought the Sheamus-Big Show face for the most part was solid. Daniel-Sandow was good. Sandow’s promo before the match was great. Kane-Cody was solid too. The segment with Booker, Teddy Long and the Divas was lame. That whole storyline is terrible. The Divas tag match was decent and so was Yoshi Tatsu vs. Miz. The bits where Booker was with Big Show & Sheamus were ok too. On the whole I thought this was decent show this week.

10-25-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 25, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Hulk Hogan & Jeff Hardy in the GM office. Hulk says Jeff raised the bar at BFG and Jeff has to be ready. Jeff says he’s ready. Hulk thanks Jeff for everything he’s done for this company. Then Jeff walks out of the office. Anderson, Ray, Storm & Angle are outside the door. Then we hear pre recorded comments from Jeff that were meant to be like he’s thinking to himself. He comments about the 4 guys. He says that Angle is machine, Storm drinks too much, Anderson will always be an a**hole & Ray is dangerous but his mind is preoccupied. This was idiotic. Having Jeff Hardy “thinking” to himself was really dumb! That looked like something Russo would right if he were there.

X Division Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Zima Ion for the Title. RVD gets the pin. This was a decent match. Afterwards Matt Morgan comes in and gives RVD a carbon foot pint. Then Joey Ryan comes in and holds the X Title. Morgan then says Hogan wanted to see a different side from Matt Morgan. He tells Hulk to be careful what he wishes for because now he will get it.

Austin Aries is backstage. He talks about the other 4 guys begging for a title shot, but he doesn’t have to because he has a rematch clause. Then Aries says Hulk is using these guys for his personal amusement. Aries says that he will do the same. He will stick around to see the guys’ reactions after getting tossed out buy H double. This was decent. Aries was pretty funny here.

Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian come to the ring. Kazarian says it’s fitting that Halloween is coming because they have a lot of tricks but no treats. They’re the victims of a conspiracy. He says that last week Hulk altered his travel so that he couldn’t make it to the Impact Zone, which left Daniels at a disadvantage. Second and most importantly at BFG their tag titles were illegally taken from them who are probably illegally in this country. Daniels says the fans are slow so they should take it slow. Daniels says tonight’s supposed to championship Thursday. He says that Ion got his rematch and Tessmacher will get her rematch but they haven’t gotten their rematch and that’s a crime. He says they’re not liars like Hernandez & Chavo. Daniels says that Chavo mentions his family to get a pop. They also know that Dixie is looking for the Latino fans. He says Chavo & Hernandez should come out with sombreros. Daniels has a petition that he wants their fans to sign. They’ll show Hulk that the fans want Daniels & Kazarian to get a rematch. Then out come Chavo & Hernandez. Chavo says if they need help getting a rematch and signing a petition. Chavo says nothing would make him & Hernandez then to give them a rematch so they shove the tag titles down their throats. They go after Kaz & Daniels and the heels bail. Chavo says any time they want a rematch any place is good for the champs. Then Chavo & Hernandez sign the petition. This was a decent segment. Daniels & Kazarian were good here.

Hulk is in the GM office. Storm says he showed at BFG what he’s capable of doing. Ray says he’s steamed about Devon. Angle says if he wasn’t hurt he would’ve had a title match. Anderson doesn’t know what Hulk wants. Hulk says Anderson doesn’t have the fire he’s looking for and eliminates him from the hunt. Then Anderson walks out and Austin Aries is there and he rags on Anderson. Then Anderson hits him over the head with a table piece. Then he continues to pound on him. Anderson says “alright a-hole. You and me tonight.”  I wasn’t really into this. I hate that they do this whole “Guys have to convince the Hulkster why they should get a shot at the title” bit. The Anderson-Aries bit was alright however.

Devon is with Aces & 8s. Devon says the president told him that the masks shouldn’t be allowed to come off. That’s their identity and no one needs to know who they are. Devon then says that they’re gonna have some good times the way they used to. Devon says they gotta take somebody out tonight. One of the guys walks up to a wall of pics and the guy throws a dart on the wall. This was terrible. This whole bits with masks has gone WAY too long and now we find out that the masks aren’t coming off yet? Really? This angle started out really good but has gone down hill a lot!

TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Rob Terry for the Title. Joe wins by submission. This was a squash.

Tessmacher says every moment she’s had to wait for this rematch had been like an eternity. She says that she liked seeing Jessie get man (or woman) handled by ODB. She says that tonight she takes back the knockouts title and send Tara & Jessie back to the D list.

Back to Hulk with the potential title contenders. Angle says that Ray is too focused on Devon and he would be too if it were him. Storm says he doesn’t think Ray’s focused. Ray says he’s more focused on Devon. If he can’t get a title match he will confront Devon to get answers. Hulk tells Ray to find Devon.

Ken Anderson is backstage screaming at some guy about what happened with Aries before. Hulk said it’s ok and he says it’s ok. This was weak.

Ken Anderson vs. Austin Aries. Aries wins by KO. This was a weird match. Anderson had brass knuckles and was thinking of using them, but the referee took them. Then later on the referee wound up knocked out. Aries got the brass knuckles out of the referee’s pocket. He goes to use them on Anderson but Anderson got them. Then Aries got his own brass knuckles and hit Anderson. Then he put Anderson on top of him for a cover and he kicked out at 2. Then he got the unconscious Anderson in the Last Chancery. The referee raised Anderson’s arm ONLY ONCE and it dropped. Then the referee called for the bell and Aries got the win. I don’t know what they were doing here.

Tara is with Brooke Hogan saying that the situation with ODB has to stop. Brooke asks why Tara’s worrying about ODB. Jessie complains. Brooke reminds Tara that she has a title match against Tessmacher. Tara walks off. Then Brooke tells Jessie that ODB had her eye on him. This was stupid. Brooke is terrible and I’m really tired of Tara’s character. The whole thing with her & Jessie “boo” is stupid!

Brooke Tessmacher vs. Knockouts Champion Tara for the Title. Tara gets the pin. This wasn’t much. Afterwards Tara jumps into Jessie’s arms and plants one on him. Afterwards Brooke Hogan comes out. She says she sees how things work around here. She says that next week is open fight night. Brooke says she just got off the phone with ODB and ODB wants to challenge Jessie. Terrible.

Joseph Park comes into Hulk’s office. Hulk says he doesn’t want Joseph getting in the ring with Aces & 8s. Joseph says that Hulk wasn’t the guy who was kidnapped. He asks Hulk if he’s concerned with Joseph’s heath or his liability. Hulk says both. Then Joseph takes out a contract from Park, Park and Park that says he can do whatever he has to. He says that Hulk can help him if he wants, but otherwise Hulk should stay out of his way. This was hit and miss.

Bully Ray comes to the ring. He first thanks Sting for letting him be his partner at BFG. Not much shocks him but at BFG when the mask came off and the whole world found out that Devon was part of Aces & 8s he was shocked. He says that Devon gave some bull crap excuse last week. He calls out Devon & Aces & 8s to find why they’ve done what they have. Devon & Aces & 8s come out through their own entrance in the crowed. Devon says he doesn’t owe Ray an explanation. He says he & Ray are no longer or a team or a family. Ray turned on him 2 years ago and this has nothing to do with that. This all has to do with Hogan. Hogan said he wanted Devon back. Devon mentions that Hulk never called him but he & TNA sat behind their desks and did nothing. Then he says that Aces & 8s had his back. Devon then says that when everything is said and done they will take out everyone that has wronged them 1 by 1. Then he tells Ray to go because he’s no longer a threat. Ray says this is over when he says it’s over. Then he says that Devon knows why Ray turned on him 2 years ago. He says that this has everything to do with him. Then Ray mentions the night they faced the Motor City Machine Guns. He mentions how Sabin kicked out of 3D. He says that no one had before. Then Ray says when they were in the locker room and felt down, Devon asked him what he’s so worried about because they’re rich and screw the fans. Ray says that was why he turned on him. Ray says they’re doing far too much talking. They’ve always been about fighting. Ray tells Devon to get Aces & 8s out of there so he can kick Devon’s ass right now. Devon says no. He tells Ray it’s not all about him. Then he says he will let Ray know. Ray says that Devon has been nothing but a coward. He says that Devon always hid behind him. He had no balls then and doesn’t have any now. Then Ray challenges Devon for Open fight night next week. Ray says that somebody’s going through a table. This was a decent segment. Ray & Devon were both good on the mic here. That was what made this segment bearable. The storyline doesn’t really make too much sense but the former Dudley Boys were good with their promos. Ray turned heel on Devon because Devon said screw the fans? That was a strange line.

Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan are backstage. The camera guy asks what was up with Morgan attacking RVD. Ryan says that rules don’t apply to them. Then he says it’s time to put some X Division gold around his waist. Morgan says Hulk started this by trying to hold him down. But now Morgan will do what he wants when he wants.

They have a video on next week’s Gut Check contestant, Christian York from ECW. He talks about teaming with Joey Mathews. He also mentions that he watched Mathews go to OVW. Then he says that he’s been doing this for 16 years and this is his time.

Hulk is backstage with Storm & Angle. He tells Storm that he went through a war and he has a big plan in mind for him. Angle, or as Hulk called him Cyborg gets the title shot. Hulk tells Storm they need to talk as Angle makes his way to the ring.

TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle for the Title. Jeff gets the pin. This was a really good match. Afterwards Austin Aries comes in and hits Jeff with a belt. He says that he wants to announce when and where he wants his rematch. He says it will be at Turning Point. He says it will be a turning point for both their careers. Jeff goes back to the outhouse and Aries goes back to the penthouse. He says that he is so confident that he can beat Jeff that he will hold on to the actual TNA title belt. This was good too. Aries was good here. I don’t know why Jeff has 2 belts. The actual title and his own version.

Backstage Devon & Aces & 8s beat down Kurt Angle. Then Wes Briscoe & Garrett Bischoff come by and run them off. Wes yells for help for Angle to end the show.
I thought this week’s show was boring on the whole. The Jeff Hardy-Kurt Angle match was the highlight this week. The Hogan segments were typical Hogan. The opening 1 with him & Jeff that was followed by hearing Jeff’s “thoughts” was idiotic. The Hernandez & Chavo-Daniels & Kazarian segment was decent. Daniels & Kazarian were both really good on the mic as usual. Joe-Rob Terry was a squash. RVD-Ion was decent. The Aces & 8s storyline is awful. The in ring segment with Ray & Devon was good because they both cut really good promos. The Christian York video package was decent too. The Anderson-Aries match was weird. The whole bit with brass knuckles wasn’t that great. I also wasn’t sure why Aries put Anderson on top of him before winning. Tessmacher-Tara wasn’t much. Tara’s whole “knowing celebrities” bit is terrible. Brooke Hogan was terrible too. Does anyone even care about that Jessie guy? I’m not looking forward to him facing ODB next week. Joseph Park wanting to get revenge on Aces & 8s made sense but I thought this segment was hit and miss. Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan were decent in their backstage bit. Overall I thought this was a dull show.

10-22-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 22, 2012 episode of Raw

The show starts with Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandown in the number 1 contender tag team tile tournament finals. Cody & Sandow win when Cody pins Rey. This was a good match. I liked that this started the show. Afterwards Kane & Daniel Bryan show up on the Tron. They congratulate Rhodes Scholars. Then Kane says the question is will Rhodes Scholars win the tag titles. They both say “hell no.” Then Kane says he’d like to perform a trick for Cody & Sandow. He performs the “now you see him, now you don’t” trick by pulling Daniel Bryan behind him. Then Kane’s pyro goes off.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Michael McGuillicutty. Kofi gets the pin. This was a solid match. Miz was on commentary.

They recap the contract signing from last week.

John Cena comes to the ring. He puts over the Giants players that are in the front row. He mentions they’re right next door to the building WrestleMania 29 will be at. Then he mentions that this Sunday WWE presents on PPV hell in a cell. This Sunday the fans will find out that CM Punk is a man that tells the truth. Punk has been champion for 337 days. The most truthful thing Punk said was right before he became champion. Punk was a visionary and his vision was change. This Sunday after 337 days we see change. Change is 6’3, 291 lbs and when change steps into this ring all he can hear is feed me more. Ryback isn’t a guy who will come out and complain about a political conspiracy theory. Ryback stands for 1 thing. Destruction. This Sunday the face of WWE will change. Then CM Punk & Paul Heyman come out. Punk says he’s not surprised that Cena would put over the Giants. He says he’s a Giants fan, but they’re from San Francisco. Punk says Cena wanting change is laughable. He says that he has been champion for 337 days, which means Cena hasn’t been champion longer. Punk has shown that he is the best in the world. Not Cena or Ryback. Cena can promise destruction and change but everyone knows when Punk makes a promise he means it. He promises he will walk out of hell in a cell still WWE Champion. Punk says Cena being Ryback’s cheer leader fits him well. It means that Cena realizes that Cena himself can’t beat Punk. Cena says he wasn’t allowed to beat Punk. Then Cena says that he is now medically cleared. Cena says he’s not going to mess with Punk’s match, but he’d like to mess with Punk right now. Cena says he will give Punk a pre ass whipping before he gets the real one. Punk walks to the ring and Heyman screams for Punk not to do this, saying Punk doesn’t fight for free. Then Punk jumps off the apron and holds up the belt as he & Heyman back up the ramp. This was decent. I thought this was 1 of Cena’s better promos. Punk as usual was good on the mic. When Cena said that he was medically cleared, I thought he was going to say that he would be in the cell too. But nope. It looks like Ryback-Punk will be the title match.

Before the next match Antonio Cesaro says that he is the U.S. Champion in 5 different languages. Then Justin Gabriel dives onto Cesaro.

Justin Gabriel vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Gabriel gets the pin. This was a solid match.  It was kind of surprising they had Gabriel win.

They show a limo pulling into the arena and out come Vince and AJ.

Vince & AJ are in the ring. Vince says that AJ met with the Board of directors to discuss her tenure as Raw GM. Then he gives the mic to AJ. She says that because of allegations of her fraternizing with a WWE super star, she is resigning as Raw GM (not surprising). She says these allegations are false but she understands that she could’ve been fired when she attacked Vickie or Heyman. That was why she agreed to resign. She says that some of her decisions might have been unorthodox. Some might consider her mentally unstable but she thinks some people like a crazy chick. The fans cheered for that. She says this is ending sooner than she wanted, but she’s come so far. She grew up 15 minutes from the area. She says she grew up with nothing. She’s lived in cars and motels. She’s gone from being homeless to being the boss. She though she would always be a poor girl who never made it but the fans accepted her. She thanks the fans and has loved every second of this job. She thanks Vince for giving her a chance that no one else would’ve given her. Then she hugs Vince. Then out comes Paul Heyman. He says that there’s a 1 in a billion chance of a homeless girl becoming the GM of the longest running TV show. Heyman says that AJ rose above her lack of education, intelligence & class. She also rose above the fact that she was born a Jersey girl. Then Heyman says there needs to be a new GM for Raw. Heyman tells Vince that he needs some one with class and someone who when the time is right can show ruthless aggression. He mentions the differences he and Vince had, but if Raw needs a new GM it should be him. Vince says no. Then Vince brings out the managing supervisor of Raw. Out comes Vickie Guerrero. Vince thanks the board for giving her this opportunity. She is so touched that the board values her expertise. Heyman says now that Vickie’s in a position of power her first decision should be a momentous one. He says that Vickie should undo the damage that was when he gave Punk an option of who he would face at the PPV and then took that option from him and made Punk face Ryback. Heyman says Ryback is a punk eating carnivore. Vickie says Punk will face Ryback. She will also show everyone that she will do things better than Booker T. Sheamus will face CM Punk in a champion vs. champion match. Heyman says she can’t do that. Vickie says to watch her. Then Vickie says tonight’s match will be the largest lumber jack match in Raw history. Heyman walks up the ramp all steamed. Then Vickie turns to AJ. She says she knew all along that AJ wasn’t right for this job. Vickie says that she has the experience to run Raw, which is why the board believes in her to be the soon to be GM. Vickie says that AJ wasn’t just fraternizing with a super star. AJ had an affair and AJ disgusts her. She tells AJ to go backstage and pack up her gear. Vickie tells AJ to leave her ring. AJ turns to leave but Vickie screams at her. Then AJ attacks Vickie and a catfight breaks out. Vickie eventually gets out of the ring. She heads up the ramp screaming that AJ is crazy. Then AJ skips up the ramp. This was a bit long and drawn out. I’m not sure what this whole “AJ affair” bit is about. The AJ character has gotten really old and I have a feeling this “affair” will make the character worse. Also Vickie announcing Champion vs. Champion is not original! How often have we had the GM or whatever say they’re going to do something different only to announce the same old? Once again WWE gives away a potential WrestleMania match here!

Ryback vs. The Miz. Ryback gets the pin. This wasn’t much. Ryback dominated this.

Eve is backstage on her phone mentioning who AJ has been with publicly (Kane, Daniel Bryan & CM Punk). Then she says she heard about AJ being with Ryder and Primo. Then Kaitlyn comes by. She says that AJ never had someone get attacked from behind. Kaitlyn tells Eve that she took a picture of her I pad. Eve says she’s going to tell Booker. Kaitlyn tells Eve to drop the act. Eve’s is still the conniving witch she has always been. Then Eve slaps Kaitlyn and another cat fight breaks out. Then Layla comes by and the brawl continues. This was meaningless. This storyline has been really idiotic.

Josh Mathews is backstage with a Brawlin Buddy of Sheamus. Sheamus comes in and Josh asks him about having to face Punk later. Sheamus says he loves unpredictability. Josh asks if this match will have a negative affect Sunday. Then Big Show comes in and knocks the Brawlin Buddy out of Sheamus’ hands. He tells Sheamus to get serious because this Sunday he will knock him out and take the title. This was a typical hokey Sheamus promo. Having the Brawlin Buddy there was lame. I was fine with Big Show’s part of this bit however. Also Sheamus was in a lumber jack match on Smackdown and now he’s in another one tonight? There’s no unpredictability here!

WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler. Dolph gets the pin. This was a really good match. Kane’s pyro went off and he came to ringside. Kane led the fans in a yes chant. That distracted Daniel. He started screaming no. That allowed Dolph to hit the Zig Zag off the second rope for the pin.

Afterwards Kane says he was helping Daniel. Daniel shoves Kane saying Kane distracted him. Then Matt Striker comes out and says that Vickie Guerrero told him to come out because she wanted him to let her know that they will be in some kind of “therapeutic game show.” The newly tag game. Striker says he has to be the host. Striker asks for them to put their differences with him aside. Then Striker says that they will play against Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow. This is next. What was this? I never heard of this newly wed game show they’re parodying here.

Striker welcomes everyone to the newly tag game. This game is meant for partners to get to know each other. Striker goes for the introduction and Kane says he & Daniel have met. Striker tells them to tell the fans about themselves. Daniel says he is a former World Champion; he doesn’t have a goat face and is the world’s toughest vegan. And more importantly, he is the tag team champions. Kane says he is a Scorpio. He enjoys long walks on the beach, rainbows and puppies. Striker asks seriously. Kane says hell no. Then Kane & Daniel argue. Then out come Cody & Sandow. Sandow says as the intellectual savior he & Cody will not take part in this. Cody says the good news is everyone will get to know them as well as Cody knows Sandow when they beat them for the titles. Sandow says you’re welcome. Kane says this game show is a total bust. Striker says how about a hand for the winners by forfeit, the tag champs. Daniel gets excited and screams winner. Then Kane goes after Striker and Striker heads up the ramp. Then he tells Kane & Daniel that he wishes he can wish them luck on Sunday but he doesn’t. Then Big Show comes out and throws Striker down. This was really stupid! Not much more to say about this.

WWE Tag Team Champion Kane vs. Big Show. Big Show gets the pin. Cody & Sandow came back out. That distracted Kane. Then Big Show gave Kane the WMD for the win. Afterwards Cody & Sandow go after Daniel. They get him in the ring & Cody gives Daniel the cross roads. The match was short and I was fine with

Backstage Santino tells AJ he thinks she did a good job. Then Cena comes by and tells AJ that if there’s anything he can do for her to let him know. AJ says there are a lot of things she should’ve been fired for but for this. Then she mentions Vickie bringing up the “affair.” Cena tells AJ to tell him who it is so he can get AJ her job back. AJ says it was Cena. Someone made something out of a “business dinner” and turned it into a mess. AJ thinks it was Vickie. AJ cries and hugs Cena. Cena says he will take care of this. This was idiotic!

Cena runs into Vince. He brings up the bogus story Vickie told Vince and asks why this happened. Vince says there was incriminating evidence. Cena says what about Vickie. Vince says she’s the managing supervisor. He doesn’t know what that means, but it is what it is. Vince gets in the limo and rides off. This was lame.

Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This was a decent match but I knew Del Rio would win. Afterwards Del Rio gets the mic and screams at Ryder, saying that he will cut Orton’s head off at hell in a cell. Del Rio locks Ryder in the cross arm breaker and screams for Orton (even though he has Ryder in the hold) to tap. There’s a new Apex predator in WWE. Ricardo screams Del Rio’s name over and over. Then Del Rio does the Orton pose.

Vickie is in the GM office. She’s having AJ’s belongings removed. Cena comes in and says Vickie is a back stabbing lair. He says AJ loved being GM. Vickie says Cena asked AJ out and that Cena cost AJ her job. This storyline is ridiculous.

Josh Mathews interviews Dolph Ziggler. Josh says Dolph has to be feeling confident after beating Daniel Bryan. Dolph says of course he is. Then he asks what’s up with AJ. He thought that she was a good egg. He then says AJ can’t put her hands on anyone especially Vickie. He mentions AJ attacked Vickie again, but there’s only 1 guy to blame for all this. Cena. Dolph says he hopes Cena’s happy with himself. AJ should’ve had better taste. They had the MITB guy talk about this nonsense? Dolph has a guaranteed World Title match and he’s been buried almost every time he’s on. Now they have him talking about this Cena-AJ crap?

They show a Ryback video package.

Backstage Heyman tells Punk not to let what Ryback does get to his head. Punk complains about having to be in a lumber jack match. He’s starting to miss AJ. Heyman says that next Monday Punk will have beaten Ryback and will still be WWE Champion. Heyman says that Punk is the best in the world. This was a good backstage segment.

World Champion Sheamus vs. WWE Champion CM Punk in a Lumber Jack match. Punk gets the pin. This was a solid to good match. Cesaro & Jinder Mahal came in but Sheamus gave both of them a Brogue Kick. Then Big Show got on the apron and choke slammed Sheamus. Then Punk covered Sheamus for the 3 count. Afterwards Ryback comes to the ring. Punk looks to escape but the lumber jacks throw him back in the ring. Then Ryback power slams Punk. Punk looks to bail again but the lumberjacks throw him back in and Ryback power bombs him. Punk looks to escape a third time but again the lumber jacks throw him back in the ring. Then Ryback Press slams Punk onto the lumber jacks. Punk lays on the floor as Ryback does his feed me more pose to end the show.

I thought this was a mixed bag show overall. It stared out good and then it went south. I liked that they started the show with a match rather than the usual 20 minutes of yapping that they usually have. Rey & Cara vs. Cody & Sandow was good. I knew Cody & Sandow would win. Sheamus-Punk was a solid to good match too. I don’t get why they had this match on Raw. This match already happened on the first episode of Main Event! Why have it on Raw too? I also wasn’t into JR & Michael Cole constantly saying that this was the biggest lumber jack match in history though! They must have said that 20-30 times. Kofi-McGullicutty was solid too. Ryder-Del Rio was decent but I knew Del Rio would win. Ryback-Miz wasn’t much. Daniel Bryan-Dolph Ziggler was really good. I thought that was the best part of the show. The newly tag game segment however was lame. This storyline with Cena & AJ is more WWE idiocy. They’ve really overdone it with the AJ character. The AJ-Vince-Heyman-Vickie segment was a bit too long. AJ no longer being GM was predictable. The Cena-Punk segment was decent. I thought Cena was ok here and Punk was good like usual. Gabriel-Cesaro was also solid. I’m thinking they’ll have a match on the youtube pre show. The Sheamus-Big Show segment backstage was lame too. Why do they have Sheamus talk like Cena? It’s really corny and having the Brawlin Buddy there was stupid. I was ok with Big Show’s part of this bit though. Overall I thought this week’s show was hit and miss and the build to the PPV wasn’t the greatest.

10-19-12 Smackdown results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 19, 2012 episode of Smackdown

The show starts with Miz TV. Miz is already in the ring with his “show” set up. He says that last Wednesday on Main Event luck struck Kofi Kingston and he escaped with Miz’s Intercontinental title. He says that the last 48 hours have been a living hell for him. He tells Kofi that he wants him to cherish this title reign because it’s going to be very short. Tonight on Miz TV he is officially invoking his rematch clause for the Intercontinental Title at hell in a cell. He says that he will show Kofi why he is the most must see WWE super star. He says that he is going to win the Intercontinental Title and then Kofi’s life will be a living hell. Speaking of hell, his guests tonight are the WWE Tag Team Champions. He welcomes Kane & Daniel Bryan. Then out comes Daniel Bryan. Then Kane. Each to their own theme music. Miz rags on them for having separate entrances and says they aren’t a real team. He says they’re ego maniacs. Miz says that if they were a true tag team they would come out together, not separately. Kane says, “Look Miz.” Then Daniel cuts him off and says he’s got this. Daniels says if Miz wants to talk about things being separate, then how about he separates Miz’s teeth from his mouth. Miz does really shtick and says that the guy with the goat face is gonna talk to him about appearance. Miz tells Daniel that he was his pro on NXT. Miz says that he made Daniel the super star that he is today, but they never got along just like Daniel never got along with AJ and just like he doesn’t get along with Kane. Miz then says it is obvious that Daniel is the problem. Then Miz says that Kane is the sensible one. Then Miz says that he thinks at hell in a cell when the defend the tag titles against either Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio or Rhodes Scholars Daniel will be the reason they lost the titles. Then Daniel says, “Let me tell you something.” Then Kane covers Daniel’s mouth and says he will handle this. Kane tells Miz that no one cares what he thinks. Kane then says that he has won tag team titles with angry 7 foot giants, deranged psychopaths with multiple personalities, and even the dead man himself. Kane says that if Daniel Bryan is the problem then he is the solution. Daniel says that he isn’t the problem. He is the reason they will win at hell in a cell. That’s because Kane is nothing without the world’s toughest vegan. Kane says, “The world’s toughest vegan?” He says that Daniel is the world’s tallest dwarf. Miz asks if he can say something. He starts to speak and then Kane & Daniel both scream no. Then Daniel tells Kane that he is not a dwarf and he doesn’t have a goat face. He is a former World Champion. Daniel then says that he won that title by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and defeating a giant, ending his title reign in 45 seconds. Then he says that he is the tag team champions. Kane says that he is the tag team champions. Then they do their usual arguing about that. Then Big Show’s music hits and he comes out. He tells Kane that he doesn’t have a problem with him. Show says he knows that he & Kane have their date of destiny Monday on Raw. Show then tells Daniel that his problem is with him. Show says that he thought that after the beating when he destroyed Daniel Monday, he thought Daniel would learn to keep his mouth shut. Show says that Daniel beating him for the World Title was the biggest fluke in history. Then Show says that after hell in a cell when he knocks Sheamus out nothing like will ever happen to him again. Then he tells Daniel that if he hears him open his mouth 1 more time about 45 seconds then he will knock Daniel out. Then Show says that he should just knock Daniel out and do everybody a favor and shut Daniel’s mouth. Kane then tells Show that they might be scheduled for a match on Raw but they don’t have to wait. Then out come Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero. He says that Daniel Bryan cashing in the Money in the Bank contract on Big Show was last year. All that matters is the current Money in the Bank contract holder. That of course being Dolph. Dolph says that at hell in a cell Sheamus & Big Show will beat the hell out of each other. Dolph says that he will then do what he does better than anybody. Steel the show and become World Champion. Dolph says that it really doesn’t matter if he cashes in on Sheamus or Big Show. Dolph says that if Daniel Bryan could cash in on Big Show then how hard could that be. Then Daniel says that cashing in isn’t that easy. Daniel says that he beat…then Big Show dares him to say whatever he was going to say. Then Kane, & Daniel argue while Dolph & Big Show argue. Then Booker T’s music hits and he comes out. Booker says that he needs everyone to chill out and listen to what he has to say. Miz tells Booker to save it. Miz says they get what Booker will do because he is so predictable. Miz sarcastically says that Booker will make a main event match with everybody in the ring (that was funny). Miz asks if it will be a tag match, a handicap tag match with Kane & Daniel facing Show, Dolph & Miz (which is the predictable same old bit that they have the GM do). Miz sarcastically says that Booker is so creative. He then sarcastically congratulates Booker and says that’s fantastic. Then Miz says, “Can you dig that sucker? See ya. Bye” (That was funny too). Booker says that he actually wasn’t going to say that. Booker then says that tonight he has an announcement. Tonight he will make to main event caliber matches. Kane & Daniel Bryan will face Dolph Ziggler & Big Show. Booker thanks everyone and was headed to the back. Then Miz reminds Booker that he said he would make 2 matches. Booker says that he almost forgot about Miz. Booker tells Miz that he will face this man. Booker walks to the back. Then cue voices in the head and Randy Orton comes out. I was ok with this segment. It was a bit long but I thought Kane, Daniel & Miz were good with their promos. Kane & Daniel play their parts very well and make a dumb storyline kind of entertaining. I also like Miz asking Booker if he will put them all in some kind of main event match since that is what usually happens at the start of every show. I thought that was funny. I thought this segment was alright.

Randy Orton vs. The Miz. Orton gets the pin. This was a solid to good match. Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez watched from the sky box. During the match Matt Striker interviewed Del Rio. Striker mentions last week when Orton gave Ricardo an RKO on the announce table. Striker says that clearly Orton was sending Del Rio a message. Striker says that the question on everyone’s mind is…Then Ricardo says if the message is like the message that Kane sent Striker on Raw. Then Striker asks Del Rio for comments on his match with Orton at hell in a cell. Del Rio says that Orton is nothing but a little girl. He says that Orton is afraid of him. Orton is nothing. Del Rio says that he is the new Apex Predator in WWE. I don’t know why they had an interview during a match. It really detracted from the match itself. I thought the match was good though. Afterwards Del Rio gets the mic and tells Orton they will do this on Del Rio’s terms, not Orton’s.

Sheamus is walking backstage and he runs into Teddy Long. Sheamus says that he’s doing that great. He says that he isn’t one to complain. He says that the first 2 weeks on Raw he & Wade Barrett have had some epic scraps (I think that’s what he said). Sheamus says they’ve been battering each other only for Big Show to come out and stick his massive “arse” in their business. Sheamus asks Long for 1 more match with Wade Barrett tonight. Long says that he will talk to Booker and he believes he can make this happen for Sheamus, “Playa”. Then Long says that he will do him 1 even better. To make sure that there is a winner he will make it a lumber jack match. Then Sheamus says, “I feel ya playa!” Then they fist pump. Sheamus walks off. Long sells Sheamus’ fist pump and says, “I feel you too playa.” Then they show that Eve was watching. This was ok. Thankfully it was short.

Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd vs. Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow. Cody & Sandow win when Cody pins Tyson. This was a solid match.

Booker T & Eve are in the GM office. Booker says Eve is doing a good job. Then Teddy Long comes in and says he just finished talking to Sheamus and he came up with a great idea for tonight’s main event. Booker says that he & Eve were just talking about that too. Long says that he came up with Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett in a lumber jack match. Then Eve tells Long that she’s had that idea since last week. She says that Long must’ve overheard her talking about it. Then Eve tells Booker that Long is trying to take credit for her idea. Booker of course believes Eve and tells Long he will have to do better than that. (So is WWE creative). Booker says that he has a meeting he has to take care of. Eve says she’ll walk with him. Booker walks off & Eve gives Long a dirty look before she leaves. Then Long picks up an I pad or something. This was just as idiotic as the other Booker-Long-Eve bits. Booker is the GM. How come he’s not watching the show!? What is with WWE making people in charge be either total heels or total idiots!?

WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big Show. Kane & Daniel win when Daniel makes Dolph tap. This was a good match but they had Dolph,  the Money in the Bank holder job cleanly again! Afterwards Kane & Daniel are on the ramp once arguing about who the tag team champions is. Then Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow come out and they attack the champions. They knock Kane off the stage and they double stomp Daniel.

They show Antonio Cesaro outside Sun Studio in Memphis. He says hello in 5 languages. Then he says that he continues to bring prestige back to the U.S. Title. He says that he is experiencing some Americana. He mentions that he is standing outside of Sun Studio. Then he brings up Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and the “king of rock n’ roll.” He says this is why this country needs him as U.S. Champion. He says everyone’s used to being country bumpkins by listening to hillbilly music that the rest of the world doesn’t care about. He says, “That’s what qualifies a land mark in America?” He says this building shouldn’t be celebrated, it should be demolished. Then he says that Sun Studios is no longer part of Antonio Cesaro’s America. I wasn’t really into this. How often throughout the decades have we had these anti American characters? This is another old bit.

Ted DiBiase, Jr. vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro gets the pin. This was a solid match.

Time for the Raw Rebound.

Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal are in the ring. They reshow them attacking Zack Ryder & Santino from Monday. Then Slater gets the mic and says we’re looking at the greatest group in history (far from it). Then McIntyre says they’re the 3 man band with this really idiotic screech. Then Slater says they’re the 3MB. Then Mahal says they make beautiful music & they rule the day (Whatever that means). Slater says to sit back and watch him beat up Brodus Clay. Then Brodus Clay comes out. This 3 man band gimmick is terrible.

Brodus Clay vs. Heath Slater in a musical jobbers match. Staler gets the pin. This wasn’t much. Brodus’ stock has really fallen.

Backstage Matt Striker interviews Wade Barrett. Striker wants Barrett’s thoughts on tonight’s lumber jack match. Barrett says that there seems to be some sort of pervading notion in WWE that Sheamus is a tough guy. Barrett is not entirely convinced that’s the case but 1 thing that he is sure of is that Sheamus is very very stupid. Barrett then says that he isn’t saying that to insult him. He thinks it’s just a fact. Barrett then says that in less then 2 weeks Sheamus has a huge match defending his World Title against Big Show. When you’re in that situation the last thing you want is a match against Wade Barrett, much less a lumber jack match. Barrett then says that there is no escape and by taking this match Sheamus is essentially saying that he doesn’t want to be World Champion any more. Then he says that he has a message for Big Show. He will be doing Show a huge favor tonight when he damages Sheamus. Then Barrett says that in less than 2 weeks when Big Show defeats Sheamus Barrett wants him to remember that favor because he wants to be paid. This was a good promo.

Eve is on commentary for the next match.

Layla vs. Natalya. Layla gets the pin. This was short.

Kaitlyn is backstage checking messages on her phone or something. Then Teddy Long comes in with the I pad from before. He tells Kaitlyn that he’s got something that she needs to see. Kaitlyn mentions that’s Eve’s I pad. Long says that Eve left it in Booker’s office. Kaitlyn looks at what’s on there. Then Long tells Kaitlyn that Eve has to be stopped. As far as he’s concerned Kaitlyn can do whatever she wants to with this information. Then Kaitlyn takes a picture of the I pad screen with her phone. Then Kaitlyn says that she will confront Eve about this but till Long should put it back where he found out so that Eve won’t know. It looks like they got the drop on Eve. Thankfully this a short bit. This storyline is really lame.

The lumber jacks come out for the Sheamus-Wade Barrett match.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett in a lumber jack match. Sheamus gets the pin. The lumber jacks brawled of course. Then Kane’s pyro went off and he & Daniel Bryan ran to ringside to get in on the brawl (Why weren’t they out there in the first place?). As the brawl is going on Cody Rhodes got in the ring. Sheamus tossed him over the top but Cody landed on the apron. Then Barrett charged at Sheamus but Sheamus pushed him into Cody. Cody fell off the apron. Then Sheamus gave Barrett the Brogue Kick for the win. Afterwards Kane & Daniel chase Cody & Sandow over the guardrail. Then Dolph came in and gave Sheamus the Zig Zag. Then he tried to cash it the Money in the Bank case but Big Show gave Dolph the KO punch. Then Show goes up the ramp, gets the mic and tells Sheamus to wake up and take a good long hard look at Dolph lying unconscious. Then Show says at hell in a cell that’s gonna be Sheamus’ fate. Show says he is going to knock Sheamus out and he is taking that title. Then Show walks to the back as Sheamus looks on to end the show. The match was good and I liked the brawl too but Dolph got booked like a jobber twice in 1 night! What is wrong with this company? I’m guessing Dolph will cash in at the PPV. They might put the Title on him but who will take him seriously as champion when he always gets beaten?

I was ok with this week’s show. I thought the opening segment was a bit long but I thought Daniel & Miz were good here. The Sheamus-Wade Barrett match was good too. The lumber jacks brawling was predictable but solid. Kane & Daniel vs. Big Show & Dolph was good too, but they had Dolph tap out clean. I’m not into the whole Teddy Long-Eve angle. Of course Booker has to be a moron since he’s GM. The Long- Sheamus & Long-Kaitlyn bits weren’t much and thankfully they was short. Layla-Natalya was a short match and there wasn’t much to it. Brodus Clay-Heath Slater wasn’t much. Brodus’ push is no more and the 3 man band stable is idiotic. Ted-Cesaro was solid too. Cesaro’s promo was kind of just there. Wade Barrett’s promo was really good. Gabriel & Tyson vs. Cody & Sandow was also solid. I thought Orton-Miz was solid too but I wasn’t into the sky box interview with Del Rio. On the whole I thought this week’s show was ok.

10-18-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 18, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Aces & 8s coming to the Impact Zone. They come out from the entrance in the crowd and hit the ring. Then they show more of them on the Tron. The guy says that Sunday they beat Hulk at his own game and that they have1 guy to thank for that. Devon. Then out comes Devon. Devon tells the fans to shut the hell up. The fans chant you sold out. Devon says these guys in this ring, Aces & 8s are the guys that have head his back since day one. These are the guys that picked him up when he was down. Then he calls the fans pieces of crap. Then Devon thanks Aces & 8s because without them he wouldn’t be in the ring testifying. If it wasn’t for the guy who patched him in he thanks that guy. This is the group that will destroy TNA. Devon tells the fans to shut up again. Then Devon says that Bubba, Sting & Hulk asked why. Devon says he hasn’t forgotten when Ray turned on him and when he put Devon’s son through a table. Cue Sting’s music and out come Sting, Ray, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Hernandez, James Storm, Ken Anderson, AJ Styles and Garrett Bischoff. Sting says the made into the Impact Zone ok. That’s perfect because he wants to introduce them to the TNA roster. Then the TNA guys hit the ring and a brawl starts. Then Hulk Hogan’s music hits and he comes out with a bat. Commercial time. I’m not sure why Devon is the heel when Ray turned heel on him a couple years ago. Back from commercial and the other Aces & 8s guys come out. Hulk says lets do we got to do. Hulk tells Devon that at BFG they got full access into TNA but with that access that means they have to fight. Then Sting says that he wants to fight Devon. Hulk tells Devon that he’s either all the way in or all the way out. He tells Devon to fight Sting or get out of there. Devon says he’s in. Devon then says they need to make sure that SOB shows up because if he doesn’t they will personally find him. This was a weird segment. Aces & 8s win at Bound for Glory and have full access to the building but they have to fight to remain there? This whole storyline hasn’t made sense at all. Also can we finally have these guys unmask? This whole mystery identity thing has been going on for too long!

They show clips of the Jeff Hardy-Austin Aries match from Bound for Glory. There will be a celebration for Jeff Hardy tonight.

They show Austin Aries watching the monitor backstage. He says that the party for Jeff Hardy isn’t a party unless the greatest man that ever lived is there.

Hulk Hogan and Ken Anderson are in the GM office. Hulk says Jeff Hardy will defend the World Title against 1 of 4 guys next week. He says that James Storm is already in. Then Hulk says that he is making a 3 way for tonight for the second spot. He says that Ken Anderson is in the match. Then Joseph Park comes in and Hulk is all shocked to see him. He asks him if he’s alright. Hulk asks him what he saw (he was blindfolded and in a basement for about a month Hulk! How can he see anything?) Joseph asks if he can talk to Hulk alone. Hulk tells the camera men (they actually acknowledged them) to get out of the office. This was your typical hokey backstage Hogan segment. It looks like Park got a new suit too. Whatever. This is really illogical.

TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Robbie E for the Title. Joe wins by submission. This was a squash. Afterwards Rob Terry comes in. Joe ducks a clothesline and gets Rob Terry in the Coquina clutch.

Jessie Godderz is bench pressing Tara (Who has the Knockouts Title around her waist) for a photo shot. Jessie says that he’s from big brother and tells the camera man to get lost. Tara says they’re the hottest couple on the planet. Then they make out. This was idiotic. Does anyone even care who this guy is?

ODB is backstage on her phone with Eric Young. She says he better be wearing his ring. Then she says that she’s gotta face the champ now.

Knockouts Tag Team Champion ODB vs. Knockouts Champion Tara. ODB gets the pin. This was a comedy (and not funny) match. ODB got back on her phone. Then Jessie got on the apron and ODB roughed him up. Then she got back on her phone and Tara hit her from behind. A bit later ODB took a drink from her flask. Jessie got on the apron. ODB knocked Tara into him. Then she picks Tara up on her shoulders and spits her drink at Jessie. Then ODB hit the TKO for the win. Afterwards Brooke Tessmacher was on the ramp applauding Tara for losing and waves at her.

AJ Styles tells Kurt Angle that he enjoyed being in a tag team with him but he wants to be World Champion just like Angle does. AJ then says no disrespect but he will Angle see him out there. After AJ walks off Angle says, “Yes you will”. This was a decent segment. I hoping this doesn’t happen, but I feel like Angle will turn heel.

They show the Aces & 8s guys outside the arena.

They show clips of the 3 way tag title match from Bound for Glory. Daniels says that Hernandez & Chavo can’t beat them. He then says that when the rematch takes place they will kick the dog s**t out of them because they’re the only world tag team champions of the world.

TNA World Tag Team Champions Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Gunner & Kid Kash. Hernandez & Chavo win when Chavo pins Kash. This was a solid match.

Jeff Hardy is backstage and is on his way to the ring for his celebration.

Back to the GM office. Joseph Park tells Hulk & Sting that he wants a piece Aces & 8s. Hulk & Sting say they’re too many of them. Then Bully Ray comes in. He asks to speak to Hulk alone. Hulk says no because they’re all on the same team. Ray thanks Sting for letting him team with at BFG. Then he says he’s sorry for letting him down. Sting says that he wasn’t let down. Then Ray says he knows Devon and wants to be the guy that gets the answers out of Devon. He asks Hulk to take Sting out of the match. Hulk says Ray thought he knew Devon. Then he tells Ray that he will be in a 3 way for a title match (I guess next week) and should focus on that. Hulk says that Sting will take care of Devon. Ray says Hulk should trust him more. This was decent. Ray was the star of this segment.

They show more clips of the Jeff Hardy-Austin Aries match at BFG.

Jeff Hardy comes to the ring with a new title belt. Pyro goes off and confetti comes down from the ceiling. The fans chant Hardy. Then Jeff gets the mic and says it’s good to be back in the Impact Zone. He says he has chased this moment for more than a year and the fans have been there for him. He thanks his creatures. Then the fans chant thank you Hardy. He says that he can’t wait to defend his title next week. Then Austin Aries comes out singing and asks where the party is. He has a tray of cookies and balloons. He says this is supposed to be a celebration. He says that doesn’t want to minimize what Jeff did at BFG. Jeff did was no one could do. Beat Austin Aries when it mattered the most. He hands Jeff a balloon but he lets it go and it hits the ceiling. Then he offers Jeff a cookie. Jeff says he doesn’t eat cookies. Then Aries says that now that Jeff is champion he will have a target on his back and that not everyone can handle the pressure. Aries says that he can invoke his rematch clause any time he wants but he wants Jeff to feel the pressure before he does. Aries has a look at the belt. Jeff says he is the guy Aries can’t beat. Aries takes the belt and spits on it. Then Jeff goes after Aries. He goes for a Twist of Fate but Aries bails. This was a good segment. I don’t get why Jeff has to have his own version of the title however.

Daniels says it looks like he & Kazarian are down and out. He mentions having to face AJ & Angle by himself. He says that he will show Hulk that he can beat them.

AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christopher Daniels in a “Hulk Hogan might pick me to challenge for the TNA Title if I win this” match. Angle wins when he pins Daniels. This was a good match. Afterwards Angle offers AJ his hand but AJ walks off. They’re turning AJ Styles heel? Why? He’s much better as a baby face.

Joey Ryan & Matt Morgan bump into hulk Hogan backstage. Joey tells Hulk who he is. Hulk says that he’s a fan of Ryan’s work. Then he tells him to turn the 87% into 97%. Then Hulk asks Morgan why he would ruin the biggest PPV of the year. Morgan tells “Terry” that it’s because Hulk promised to make him a house hold name. Hulk says that he fought for Morgan. Morgan tells “Terry” to take everything that’s been said about him and he will shove all the comments straight up their ass. Morgan & Ryan walk off and Hulk smiles for some reason. This was a bit weak. I don’t get why they had Morgan call Hogan “Terry.” Is Vince Russo back?

They show pieces of the Storm-Roode match from Bound for Glory.

James Storm comes to the ring. He says that he was taught a saying when he was very young, what goes around comes around. He says it’s been a year since he became World Champion. Storm then says that the fans missed it they missed a fight. He says that he bled buckets and has the stitches to prove it. He says that he fought for his family and his fans. Then Storm mentions his “Cowboy bucket list” 10, Kick the crap out of Roode. Check. 9-2 drink beer. Check. Number 1, win back the World Title. He says if Hulk is listening back there…then Bobby Roode comes to the ring. He says that at BFG they made good on a promise. They promised the world they would give it everything they had. Roode says that when it was all said and done they had 1 of the bloodiest battles in the history in the business. Roode says that after a year Storm finally beat him. Roode then says that he carried Storm. He mentions Storm became champion because of him. Roode says that despite losing at BFG Storm knows that Roode will always be the better man. Storm then says, “Nope.” Then he gives him the last call super kick. Then Storm tells Roode, “Sorry about your damn luck.” This was a good segment. Both guys cut good promos. I also liked that this was short too. That says that this feud is done.

They show the video package of Sting’s TNA Hall of Fame ceremony.

Sting vs. Devon. Sting wins by DQ when Aces & 8s come in. They pound on Sting. Then out come Ken Anderson, Garrett Bischoff, Samoa Joe, Chavo, James Storm and AJ Styles and just like at the start of the show a brawl happens. Then Bully Ray comes to the ring with a bat and runs Aces & 8s off to end the show. The match was solid but I knew the Aces & 8s guys were gonna come out. The brawl at the end was very similar to what they would at the end of Nitro every week. Also Bully Ray coming out with a baseball bat and running off the whole group by himself was exactly like Sting running of the nWo.

I thought this week’s show had its ups and downs overall. The opening was a weird. I don’t get the whole Aces & 8s have full access to the Impact Zone but now they have to fight to stay bit. Devon saying that Aces & 8s were the guys that helped him was strange too since we don’t know who they are yet. The end was but predictable. Sting-Devon was a solid match but I knew the Aces & 8s guys would come in. They have to reveal who these Aces & 8s guys are. This whole bit with the masks has gotten old. Ray coming out and running Aces & 8s off with the bat was the exact same bit that Sting used to do in WCW 15 years ago! The Storm-Roode promo was good and short. Both guys cut good promos. I wasn’t into the Tara-Jessie bits. Who has ever heard of this guy? The ODB-Tara match wasn’t much either. Hernandez & Chavo vs. Gunner & Kid Kash was solid also. Joe-Robbie E was a squash. The Hulk Hogan segments in the GM office were typical Hogan segments. Hokey. I wasn’t into the bit with Hulk, Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan. Having Morgan refer to Hulk as Terry was very Russo like. The Jeff Hardy-Austin Aries segment was good. Aries was really good in his role. AJ-Angle-Daniels was good too. It looks like they’re building to AJ vs. Angle. The other thing I can’t stand is that this match wasn’t for a title match. It was a “maybe Hulk will pick me to challenge for the World Title if I win” match. Why does Hulk Hogan get to decide who gets a title match on every “Championship Thursday”? They could have a number 1 contender tournament and have guys earn the title shot. This whole thing where Hogan gets to pick the challenger for whatever title is idiotic! The segments in the GM office were weak too. The segment with Anderson wasn’t much. The second one with Ray was a bit better, but that’s because Ray is a good promo. Him saying he wanted to fight Devon was good. However, why is Ray asking what made Devon turn heel when Ray turned on Devon 2 years ago? On the whole I thought this week’s show was hit and miss.

10-15-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 15, 2012 episode of Raw

The show starts with Big Show coming to the ring. He says that 2 weeks ago he was in the ring…then the fans boo. He says he was in the ring for a debate. A debate that was a cleaver joke put together by Booker T & Sheamus in an attempt to make him look foolish. He says he’s not the guy who looked like a fool. All the fans look like fools because everyone told him to watch out for the Brogue Kick. Then Show has everyone take a look at what happens when you try to Brogue Kick a giant. Then they reshow him blocking Sheamus’ Brogue Kick from last week. He says the look on Sheamus’ face was a look of someone being way over his head. Then he talks about the Brogue vs. WMD challenge from Smackdown. He says he wanted nothing to do with that because he didn’t want to embarrass Sheamus. Then they reshow Big Show punching the bag from Smackdown. Show asks if he has everyone’s attention now. Then he says in 2 weeks he will be hitting Sheamus, KO him and become the largest World Champion. Just so he doesn’t have to hear anymore garbage about his 45 second title reign. He tells the fans not to tweet him about that. He says he will correct that mistake tonight. Then the fans chant 45 seconds. Then Show says that he wants Daniel Bryan tonight. With 1 punch and 1 pin he will erase the 45 second title reign. He tells Daniel to come out. They show Daniel Bryan, Kane, R-Truth, Santino Marella, Zack Ryder, Justin Gabriel & Aksana backstage. R-Truth tells “Little Jimmy” to keep his eyes on that. Then they show Kane & Daniel. Daniel says he can’t believe Show’s still hung up on that. Then AJ comes by and says that Show has an interesting idea. Then she reminds Daniel that he called her quirky and unpredictable. Then she tells Daniel to get out there. Then Kane laughs. Daniel screams no and Kane and whoever else was there scream yes. Then Daniel Bryan comes to the ring. I thought this was a little hokey. Show’s promo was alright but I wasn’t really into the backstage part of this segment. The whole yes-no bit has gotten old and the friction with Kane & Daniel is hit and miss.

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show. Big Show gets the pin. This was alright but short. Then Kane comes to the ring and he’s all smiles. Then Big Show puts up his fist. Then Kane gets in the ring. Then Big Show leaves. Then Kane & Daniel scream yes and no at each other again.

Paul Heyman is in the ring. He says who he is and tonight he is honored to introduce a man who carries himself with dignity both in and out of the ring. Heyman says that the champ will say who he will defend the title against. Then he says that this day 330 of his WWE Title reign. Then he brings out CM Punk. Punk says that last week was a perfect microcosm of what his life has become. Someone questions his integrity and he proves them wring. He doesn’t care who it is, Bret Hart, Jim Ross, Cena, or The Rock. But least of all he doesn’t care if it’s the fans. Then he says that last week it happened to be Mr. McMahon’s turn to find out what Punk’s about. Punk says it was typical Vince trying to make the show revolve around himself. Then he mentions that he slapped Vince in the face. Then punk says that Vince put up a fight but Punk victimized him and Vince will never compete again. And for that we can thank Punk. Then Punk says that it took 2 guys to save Vince from him. He mentions that Vince backed him into a corner by having to decide who he will defend his title against. Then he says he wants to show everyone the hell in a cell poster. They show it on the Tron. Punk says this is how he’s treated. Then he talks about his decisions. He says Ryback is a monster of a man. Then there’s Cena, who he has broken physically and mentally. Punk asks who does he pick to face. Who will help build his legacy? Will it be the 1 armed man or the next big thing? Then he says that he will unveil to us who he will face. Punk asks for some respect while he unveils his opponent. He says that since the fans chose to be disrespectful he needs more time to think about it. He tells the fans to have more patience with him. Cue no chance and Vince comes out. Vince says he was hoping that Punk learned something about respect last week. Then he says that Punk blew it. Punk won’t make the decision. Vince will. Vince says there will be a contract signing and that’s when Vince will say who Punk will face. Then Vince says that Punk’s fate is in his hands and he tells Punk to respect that. This was a good segment. Punk cut a great promo as usual. I liked when he mentioned that Vince always wants the show to be about Vince was a good line. I’m predicting that that they’ll have Punk face both Cena & Ryback.

Brodus Clay vs. Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio wins by submission. This wasn’t much. Del Rio dominated here.

CM Punk & Paul Heyman are in the locker room. Punk asks who does Vince think he is to decide who Punk will face. Heyman says this is what he warned Punk about. Heyman says this is Vince and they might win the battle but they can’t win the war. Punk says that if anyone can beat Vince, he can. Then he says that he wants to fight Vince again. He says that if Vince is going to decide who Punk faces he will have to fight him. Punk tells Heyman to tell Vince. Heyman gets freaked out and reluctantly goes. This was a decent bit. Heyman’s been really good playing the freaked out guy who knows he’s in a losing battle.

Zack Ryder & Santino Marella vs. The Primetime Players. The Primetime Players win when Titus pins Ryder. This was mostly a squash. Afterwards Heath Skater, Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal come out in new gear. They chuck Ryder out of the ring. Then they stomp on Santino. McIntyre says that’s how it’s done. Mahal says they’re going to celebrate. Slater then says that they’re gonna bring music to music city. He calls the trio the 3MBs. This was idiotic. I don’t get why they have these guys beat down Santino every time.

Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero come out. Vickie says that Dolph has something to say. Dolph says that Ryback is the candidate for a WWE Title match. He asks the fans if they have any idea what he had to go through to earn the MITB contract. He says that he gave it his all every time he was in the ring but that still wasn’t good enough. Then he mentions that he had to beat 7 guys in a brutal ladder match and that was the only way he got a guaranteed title match. He says Ryback is a flash in the pan and will be forgotten in months but Dolph himself will still be there. Then Dolph says he wants to face Punk and beat him for the WWE Title and then cash in MITB and win the World Title too. Then out comes David Otunga. He agrees that Ryback isn’t worthy of a title match but Dolph isn’t either. Otunga says that he should get a title match. Then AJ comes out. She says they all have a right to their opinions, but rather than express them verbally she will let them express their opinions physically against “the man himself.” Cue Feed me More and out comes Ryback. This was stupid.

Ryback vs. Dolph Ziggler & David Otunga. Ryback wins when he pins Otunga Dolph & Vickie headed up the apron and then Ryback hit the marching Samoan drop on Otunga for the win. This was a squash.

Vince is in the office on his phone. Then Heyman comes in. Vince says a swarm of locusts just came in. Heyman says he deserved that. Vince asks how Punk’s doing. Heyman says Punk’s not doing well. Heyman says that last week Vince held his own against Punk. Then he tells Vince that Punk has a challenge for Vince tonight. Heyman says that if Punk wins then Vince might consider the idea that Punk will get to pick his opponent for the PPV. Vince says they’ll have the match. However the match isn’t going to be Vince vs. Punk, it will be Vince vs. Heyman. Heyman then says this isn’t what he had in mind. Vince tells Heyman to get out of his side. Heyman goes. Then Vince says that he loves being him (Yeah I’ve noticed). This was a decent backstage bit.

AJ’s walking backstage and Matt Striker mentions that on Smackdown Kane & Daniel Bryan attacked him. He says that was crazy. Then AJ does that psycho laugh. Then she says that Striker deserves an apology and that he should ask for one. Right after his match with Kane. This made no sense. The AJ character is way beyond old now.

Promo from Cesaro saying that he has elevated the U.S. Title and the entire U.S. Then he says that he doesn’t need the U.S. The U.S. needs him.

Justin Gabriel vs. U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro gets the pin. This was a decent to solid match.

Kane vs. Matt Stryker. Before the match starts. Striker gets the mic and says they don’t need to do this. Striker’s not a competitor anymore. He is an announcer. He would be fine with an apology. He asks what Dr. Shelby would tell him. Then he says that the fans want legit competition, not mindless carnage. Then the fans chant mindless carnage. Then Kane & Striker hug it out, Kane turns it into a bear hug and choke slams him for the pin. This was idiotic too. The bell never even rang. Then Kane gets the mic and wants a word with Matt. Kane says it was a great fight and a really competitive match, but in the end, tough loss for Matt. He asks Striker how he feels. Striker of course doesn’t say anything. Kane says he couldn’t have said it better himself. Then he screams that he is the tag team champions. This was hokey.

Time for Miz TV.

Miz welcomes everyone to the most must see talk show in WWE history. He says that last Wednesday his guest had the audacity to challenge him. Then he tells the fans not to welcome, but to feel sorry for Kofi Kingston. Out comes Kofi. They show the clip from Main Event where Kofi gave Miz the Trouble in Paradise. Miz says that Kofi hasn’t put together 3 sentences but he will carry Kofi just like he has with everyone. Kofi then says that it looked like Miz was the guy that had to be carried. Miz says that Kofi’s been there for 5 years and has been in meaningless tag teams and is known for saying boom. Miz tells Kofi he will always be a B player. Kofi is the guy that will put smiles on the fans’ face but he is the guy the fans will remember. Kofi says maybe he does need to add some memorable moments to his career, like when he beats Miz this Wednesday on Main Event for the Intercontinental title. Kofi says that will be must see. Then Kofi thanks Miz for the pep talk. Then he says he might step up his game in a match tonight with Miz. Miz asks the fans if they want to see that. They cheer. Miz does his really bit. He doesn’t back down from a challenge and Kofi’s on. He says that he’s the superstar and Kofi’s the novelty act. He says that the fans don’t care about Kofi. All Kofi will ever be is guy that says boom. Then Kofi goes after Miz. This was ok but I don’t get why they’re having a non title match on Raw, the “flag ship” show and a title match on a show that not everyone gets. Why not have tonight’s match be for the title?

World Champion Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett. Sheamus wins by DQ when Big Show gets involved. Big Show’s music hit and he came out with a steel chair and watched the match from the stage. Sheamus had Barrett in the Texas Clover leaf. Big Show ran to ring side and Sheamus got distracted. Sheamus released the hold and then he got Barrett up on his shoulders but Barrett elbowed out. Then Barrett pushed Sheamus into the ropes and Show yanked down the top rope and that led to the DQ. Afterwards Sheamus gives Barrett a Brogue Kick. Then Show gets in the ring and Sheamus clotheslines him over the top to the floor. This was a good match. I was ok with the Big Show run in and the post match part was decent.

Vince is in the office on his phone. Then John Cena comes in. Vince asks Cena if he got the Dr’s results. Cena says it doesn’t matter. Then he says that everyone told Vince not to get in the ring but he did anyway because that’s where he belongs. Cena says that he’s felt better and has felt worse. Cena then says that he belongs in the ring too and that the choice is Vince’s. Vince says he will take it under consideration.

Layla vs. Divas Champion Eve Torres for the Title. Eve gets the pin. Layla’s foot was on the rope but the referee missed it. This was a solid match but I wasn’t into the finish.

Kane & Daniel Bryan are backstage. Kane says he knows Daniel’s upset. Then he mentions choke slamming Striker. Daniel then mentions that Kane taunted him after he lost to Big Show. Then Daniel says that if Kane thought it was funny that Daniel got choke slammed then Kane should face Big Show next week and see how funny it is. Then Daniel screams that he is the tag team champions. This was a decent Kane-Daniel Bryan bit.

Vince is in the office with Ryback. Vince thanks him for coming to his rescue last week. Then Vince says that everyone’s saying that Ryback is heartless and merciless. They’re also saying that he is unstoppable. Vince wants to know what he has to say. Of course Ryback says feed me more. Vince says he will take that under consideration. Thankfully this was short.

Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow come to the ring for a match.

Michael Cole announced that Rey Mysterio has the flu this week so the number 1 contender tag title tournament finals will happen next week. That sucks Rey got sick. Hope he’s better soon.

They show Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal walking into some music hall. They get on the stage. Slater gets the mic and says they are music. Drew says they’ll blow the people’s mind. Then Jinder screams in Indian. Then a “security” guy comes in and kicks them out. This was pointless.

Primo & Epico are in the ring and they will face Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow. Primo & Epico attack before the bell. Cody & Sandow bail and say that there was no bell. Then they get back in the ring and the referee calls for the bell.

Primo & Epico vs. Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow. Cody & Sandow win when Sandow pins Epico. This was a good match too.

Kofi Kingston vs. Intercontinental Champion The Miz. Kofi gets the pin. This was also a good match. They could’ve had this be for the Intercontinental Title here rather than on Main Event. Nothing against that show but like I mentioned before not everyone gets the network that show is on.

Time for Vince to decide who face CM Punk.

They have the contract table set up in the ring. Vince comes out with the contract. Vince says he has the contract for the WWE title match. Then he brings out CM Punk. Then Vince brings out Ryback. Finally Vince brings out John Cena. Vince tells Punk he’s been thinking about his decision all week because he knew Punk wouldn’t have the grape fruits to decide himself. Punk cuts off Vince and calls him an egomaniac (Boy is he right with that). Punk says that he crippled Vince and knocked a few screws lose. Then Punk signs the contract. Punk says both Cena & Vince are egomaniacs with inferiority complexes. Cena tells Punk enough. Cena says he respects Punk’s achievement as WWE Champion but Punk needs to shut the hell up. Vince says we should get this over with. Cena says he would like nothing than to face Punk for the title. Cena says he looks at Ryback and he might not care about the WWE Title. Just kicking somebody’s ass. He says that Punk should get his ass whipped. Cena says that Punk’s brain will be filled by 3 simple words. Cena then leads the crowd into a feed me more chant. Ryback then signs the contract. Vince says it’s official. Punk will defend the WWE Title against Ryback. Punk gets in Ryback’s face. Then he knocks Punk down and kicks over the table. Then he screams feed me more and then gives Punk the marching Samoan drop. Ryback poses as Punk lays on the canvas to end the show. This was a decent segment. Thankfully it wasn’t as long as I expected it would be. They’re really pushing Ryback. I’m hoping Punk can get a good match out of him.

I thought this week’s show was mediocre overall. The Big Show promo that followed with the Kane-Daniel Bryan-AJ stuff backstage at the start was hokey. The Daniel Bryan-Big Show match wasn’t much either. The closing segment with the contract signing was decent and thankfully a lot shorter than I expected. Let’s hope Punk can get a good match out of Ryback. I still have this feeling that Cena will be in the match too however. Sheamus-Barrett, Primo & Epico-Cody & Sandow and Kofi-Miz were all good matches. Santino& Ryder-Primetime Players was a squash and I wasn’t into the new band gimmick with Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal. The bit where they walked into the concert hall was idiotic too. The Vince segments with Heyman & Cena were solid and the Ryback one was decent too. Layla-Eve was solid but I wasn’t into the finish. The Kane-Daniel Bryan segments (both after Daniel’s match with Big Show & the backstage segment) were decent too. The Otunga-Dolph segment about how they deserve a title match and then having AJ come out and have them both face Ryback was meaningless. The match wasn’t much either. Gabriel-Cesaro was also solid. The Miz TV segment with Kofi was ok too and they set up 2 matches. Tonight’s and the title match on Main Event. AJ having Matt Striker face Kane made no sense. The AJ character is way old! The Kane-Matt Striker segment/match was also pointless. Brodus-Del Rio was a squash too. Del Rio dominated. So much for Brodus’ push. So on the whole I thought this was a hit and miss show this week.
