6-7-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the June 7, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with a recap of the AJ-Dixie-Daniels-Kazarian storyline.

Then they show what happened after the show ended last week. Dixie headed to the production truck and flipped out on a production guy. Then she asks the crew who did this. She says that they might be finished if they don’t find out.

Dixie Carter is in the ring and she says that no matter what she comes up with she knows people will be hurt. Then she says that she feels sorry for Daniels & Kazarian. She says that they’re 2 guys filled with insecurity and they mad innocent lives miserable. Then she says that she will tell the truth about what’s been happening, but Daniels & Kazarian come to the ring. Daniels says that he knows how hard this is for her. He says he will help her out telling the truth. The truth is Dixie made a mistake and got found out. He tells her to admit that she wants what she wants. Then he says that the real truth is that she’s had a hole in her heart that her husband couldn’t fill so she went to AJ Styles. Dixie puts her hands on Daniels. Then he backs her into the corner and tells her not to put his hands on him, he doesn’t care who she is. Then AJ Styles comes out and Daniels & Kazarian run off. Then Serge gets in the ring and helps Dixie up. Then Serge punches AJ and he walks out. Dixie & AJ leave the ring looking confused. This was odd. Serge punching AJ was dumb. This storyline is getting weirder as is progresses. But at least it was a short segment to kick off the show.

They show Austin Aries & Samoa Joe backstage and Joe says he hopes Aries isn’t disrespecting him. Aries says that if he was disrespecting Joe, Joe would know it. Then he heads to the ring for his match with Crimson.

X Division Champion Austin Aries vs. Crimson. Crimson gets the pin. Samoa Joe came out and pushed Aries off the top rope. Then he threw him in the ring and Crimson got the win. This was a decent match. It looks like they’re turning Joe heel again. Afterwards Crimson says there’s no one that can beat him and that he single handedly beat Austin Aries. He says that his undefeated streak is longer than Goldberg’s was. Then he issues an open challenge for Slammiversary.

Hulk Hogan is backstage and he talks about a few things and then says that he hope’s Brooke can handle her new job.

Brooke Hogan comes into the Knockouts locker room and Mickie James, Tara, Brooke Tessmacher & Velvet Sky are there. Brooke thanks them for letting her work along side them. Then she says that she is putting them in a 4 Way match for a Knockouts Title match. She wishes them luck. Then she says that Velvet will be in some music video. They all hug. This was lame. The announcers mentioned at the start of the show that the 4 Knockouts would be in a 4 Way match. They missed that announcement!?

Hulk Hogan comes to the ring. Hulk says that the celebration starts tonight because this is the 10 year anniversary for Impact Wrestling. The fans chant TNA. Hulk says that the party will go through this weekend all through next Thursday. Then he says that next week on Impact the World Title will be on the line no matter who the Champion is. Then Bobby Roode’s music hits and he comes to the ring. He tells Hogan to shut his mouth and show Roode the respect he deserves. Roode says that Hulk has shown him nothing but disrespect. Then he mentions that Hulk ruined his celebration when he became the longest running Champion. Then he talks about being in the lumber jack match with Sting last week. Then he complains about having to be in the 6 man tag later. Then he complains about having to defend his Title next Thursday after he beats Sting at the PPV. Roode then says that Hulk is jealous of him because Hulk knows that Roode is a better World Champion than Hulk ever was. Roode then tells Hulk to get out of his ring. Then Sting comes out but Roode pummels him. Roode turns to Hulk and Sting gets up. When Roode turns around Sting let Roode have it. This was a good segment. Roode cut a great promo as usual.

They show the Knockouts backstage. The 4 Way is next.

Joseph Park is backstage and he recaps everything that’s happened with this storyline. He says that he was looking for his “brother”. Then he says that he is a man of truth and justice and at Slammiversary he might get both.

Mickie James vs. Tara vs. Brooke Tessmacher vs. Velvet Sky to determine the Number One Contender for the Knockouts Title. Tessmacher wins when she pins Velvet. This was a good match. Gail Kim was on commentary.

Bully Ray is backstage holding legal document that Joseph Park will have to sign if he has Abyss’ best interest at heart. Good promo.

They show Hulk Hogan on the phone with AJ Styles saying he doesn’t care about what’s happening with him and Dixie. He tells him to get ready for the 6 man.

Time for the Joseph Park-Bully Ray contract signing.

JB is in the ring and talks about the signing for a bit. Then Bully Ray comes out. He does the, “Do you know who I am” bit. Then Joseph Park comes out. JB says it’s time to make the match official. Ray tears up the contract and throws it at Joseph. Ray says that was a standard wrestling contract for a standard wrestling match. Then Ray says that isn’t what they’re having. Then he takes out the new contract. Ray says that in this contract there will be no repercussions for what Ray does to Joseph. Ray signs it and then tells Joseph to sign. Joseph reads it and Ray tells him he doesn’t have to. Joseph says that he isn’t thinks he is crazy enough to put his physical well being on the line. He refuses to sign the contract. Then Ray spits at him and asks if Joseph will sign it now. Then he calls him a coward and tells him to sign it. Joseph says that for the last 10 years of his life, Abyss gave his life to TNA. He spilled his blood and gave his body for the fans. He says how dare Ray disgrace Abyss’ legacy and if Ray wants a fight then he’s got one. Then he says that he is doing this for Abyss. Then Abyss shows up on the Tron. Abyss says that he warned him to stay away from the fire but now it’s too late. Then Joseph says he was doing this to help Abyss. Abyss says he never needed it. Then Abyss says that Ray left him for dead but he isn’t. Then he says at the PPV they will both find out just how alive he is. Then Ray hits Joseph from behind. Then he walks out. This was decent. Obviously the Abyss promo was pre taped but I thought they did a solid job here.

They show Garrett Bischoff coming to Devon. He asks Devon to let him be at ringside during his match with Robbie E because he knows Rob Terry will be at ringside. Garrett offers to watch Devon’s back. Devon says that Garrett has what it takes (his dad) to make in the business. Devon then says he would be honored to have Garrett at ringside. He tells Garrett not to cut any corners and to bring it.

They show a Joey Ryan promo saying that Taz is joke. Then Al Snow comes in and chews out Ryan. Joey calls Al pathetic.

TV Champion Devon vs. Robbie E for the Title. Devon gets the pin. Devon cradled Robbie but the referee was distracted with Garrett. Rob Terry came in and reversed the pin. Then the referee got distracted with Rob Terry and Garrett re reversed the pin. Afterwards Rob Terry hits Garrett & Devon. Then Devon & Garrett clean house on the Robbies AGAIN! How many times are we gonna see Devon & Garrett run off the Robbies!? Also Madison Rayne watched from the stage. Looks like Garrett is the guy she has eyes for. UGH!

Hulk Hogan is in the ring again. He talks about how he was going to make an announcement earlier before Bobby Roode came out. Then Ken Anderson comes out and he does his shtick. Then he comes to the ring and he says that Hulk was gonna say that Anderson will get a title match next week. Hulk says that he would love to finish his announcement if that’s OK with him. Then Hulk asks RVD to come out. RVD comes to the ring. Hulk then asks Jeff Hardy to come out. Jeff comes to the ring. Anderson asks if Hogan is going to give one of them a match. Hulk says these 3 guys have been trying to get a title match. Hulk then says that the title will be on the line at the PPV. Hulk says that the Champion will defend the Title next Thursday against the winner of a 3 Way. RVD vs. Jeff vs. Anderson. I wasn’t into this. TNA has been around for 10 years! They’ve mentioned that the PPV will be the 10 year anniversary but Impact matters more than the PPV!

Time for the 6 man main event. AJ styles doesn’t come out when his music plays.

Sting, AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs. TNA World Champion Bobby Roode and TNA World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian. Sting, AJ & Angle win when Sting makes Roode tap. AJ came out from the crowd during the match. This was a solid match but I don’t why they had Roode lose clean by tap out to sting AGAIN! Afterwards Sting holds up the World Title. Then Roode rolls out of the ring with the belt to end the show.

I thought this show was a middle of the road show on the whole. The opening segment was weird. It looks like Serge is either a moron or is going to be a heel. The main event match was solid but I wasn’t into Sting making Roode tap for the second week in a row. The rest of the show was hit and miss. The first Hogan segment was decent. Roode cut a good promo as always. I wasn’t into the second Hulk segment with Jeff Hardy, Ken Anderson & RVD. They’re treating the PPV as secondary to Impact still. The Joseph Park-Bully Ray contract signing was a decent segment. Ray cut a good promo as usual. I wasn’t into Devon-Robbie E either. Hopefully this feud with Devon & the Robbies will end Sunday. Aries-Crimson was ok. I hated the Brooke Hogan segment with the Knockouts. I heard that Brooke’s TNA run is temporary. Let’s hope that’s true! I thought the 4 Way Knockouts match was solid however. They’re going to have Tessmacher challenge Gail again. Tessmacher is the only one who hasn’t been Knockouts Champion. On the whole I thought this was a hit and miss show.
