6-4-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the June 4, 2012 live episode of Raw

The show starts with Michael Cole in the ring. He says that there’s on man responsible for the carnage Big Show’s caused and that man is john Cena. Cena comes to the ring. Cole talks about Show knocking out Cena and then Show’s latest path of destruction. Cole then says that all of this could have been prevented if Cena had done the right thing and support Big Show. Cole says it was more important to be a comedian than to assist his friend. Cena says that Johnny Ace is a power hungry bully. Cena says that Ace humiliated Show. Then Cena says that he might not have done anything right away but was goin to at Over the Limit. Cole says no one knew if a new GM would rehire Show. Cole says that Cena is so self centered he forgot about this. Cole says it’s not all about Cena. He then says that Show did what he had to do. He then says that Show is no longer a business man but a giant that no one can beat. Cole says that Show will prove it at No Way Out. Cena says that Show wants a wallet the size of his waist line. Then Cena says that Show turned his back on him and the fans. Then Cole says that Cena’s jealous of Show because Show won at WrestleMania and wasn’t a punching bag for Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules. Cole then says that he has supported Cena from day one but now he thinks Cena’s overrated. Then he says that Show puts the fans out of their misery at the PPV. Then Cole tells him that he can’t strike an announcer. Then Johnny Ace comes out on his power scooter. He says that he will let Cena pick his opponent for tonight. Then he says that Big Show isn’t there. Then Johnny says that he has retired from competition but anyone else is game. Cena says this is the first good thing Johnny has done. Cena then says tonight he will face someone he’s been watching for years. Someone uninterested, overrated and if you ask JR has been shoved down the fans’ throats every week. He says that his opponent is Michael Cole. Cole says that Cena can’t do that and pleads with Ace. Johnny wheels to the back. This was terrible. Cena was his usual comedy self and this whole storyline makes no sense!

Michael Cole is backstage with Johnny Ace trying to get out of the match. Johnny says that everyone’s jobs our being evaluated. Cole says the fans don’t wanna see Cena beat the hell out of him. Johnny says yes they do. Then he tells Cole to go back to the announce table. Then he tells Cole not to call him Johnny. This was lame too.

World Champion Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus gets the pin. This was a solid match. After the match Sheamus is on the stage and Alberto Del Rio hits Sheamus from behind. They go at it and then Ricardo gets involved and Del Rio gets the advantage and locks the cross arm breaker on Sheamus as Sheamus hangs from the edge of the stage. This was a good way to continue the build to their title match. My question however is what are they gonna do with Dolph with Randy Orton suspended? Keep on jobber level?

Johnny Ace is backstage asking some guy where his coffee is. Then Mr. Coffee himself David Otunga comes by and tells Johnny that next week Vince is returning to Raw. Johnny says that’s a good thing. Otunga says that it might not be because Vince will be returning to give Johnny a job performance evaluation.

Sin Cara vs. Hunico. Sin Cara gets the pin. This was a solid match too.

Time for Ryback to squash 2 unknowns on Raw.

The 2 unknowns (Arthur Rosenberg & Stan Stansky) are in the ring and they do the usual jobber gets squashed by Ryback promo. They both say some kind of poem together. Then Ryback comes out.

Ryback vs. Arthur Rosenberg & Stan Stansky. Ryback gets the pin. This was another Ryback squash. When are they going to have Ryback face a regular on the roster?

Michael Cole is talking to Johnny in his headset trying to get out of the match with Cena, but Johnny hangs up on him.

Daniel Bryan comes out and gets on the announce table. He gets the mic and says that it’s Q & A time with Daniel Bryan. He asks if AJ has gone delusional since he dumped her. Yes. Then he asks if Kane will destroy Punk tonight. Yes. Then he asks if at No Way Out he will become the new WWE Champion. Then he does his “Yes” chant.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Kane. Kane gets the pin. This was a good match. Daniel Bryan kicks Punk when the referee wasn’t looking. Then AJ came out to tell the ref about it. Then Bryan asks AJ what she’s doing there and Punk dives onto Bryan outside the ring. Then Kane got the pin. Afterwards AJ checks on Punk but then she realizes that Kane is still in the ring. Then Bryan hits Kane from behind and then Kane big boots Daniel and sends him to the floor. Then he went back to AJ but he just looked at her and walked out. This was decent. I thought they did a good job building to the title match at No Way Out.

AJ is backstage and Josh Mathews asks if she can explain the look Kane gave her. He mentions that first she was scared and then she smiled at him. AJ says that she likes when guys look at her. She tells Josh that he looks uncomfortable. She hits on Josh and says that he just might be her type. This was good. I like this psycho character that they have AJ playing.

Michael Cole pleads with the fans to tweet Johnny Ace to get him out of his match with Cena.

They show a Big Show video package and he says he doesn’t care about being liked anymore. He says that he took a deal and now he can finally do what he wants. He says he enjoyed beating down Brodus Clay (the cheap knockoff of what WWE wanted him to be). Then he says that he is not an entertainer, he is a giant. This was a solid video package.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins. Kofi & Truth win when Kofi pins Hawkins. This was a solid match but I don’t know why they had Kofi & Truth in a match. They did all their regular spots despite being taped up from Big Show’s beating last week. That made no sense to me.

John Cena comes to the ring for his match with Michael Cole. Then Johnny Ace comes out and says that everyone wants to see this match. He also says that in the spirit of people power Big Johnny always over delivers. Than he makes the Cena-Cole match a No DQ match if Cena can beat this man. Tensai comes out.

John Cena vs. Tensai. Cena gets the pin. This was the typical Cena gets the crap beat out of him and makes the comeback at the end match.

Then the referee calls for the bell for the Cena-Cole match. Cole hops over the barrier and tries to escape but Cena goes after him and throws him over the barrier. Then Cena threw Cole in the ring. Cole had a mic and says that they don’t have to do it this way. Cole says that he and Cena go way back. They’ve been great friends and he’s supported Cena his entire career. Cole says they could shake like what friends do. Then Cole takes his jacket off and screams at the fans for thinking this is funny. Cole says if Cena thought that losing to Johnny was embarrassing, he will be more embarrassed when he loses to him. He says that he embarrassed Lawler at WrestleMania. Then Cole gets in Cena’s face and says he’s Michael Cole and no one should forget that. Then Cena says that tonight Cole will be remembered as the guy who got his ass kicked.

John Cena vs. Michael Cole.  Cena gets the pin. Cena locks Cole in a sleeper and says that Lawler whipped Cole at WrestleMania. Cena tells Cole to apologize to Lawler. Cole does. Then Cena tells Cole to apologize to Jim Ross. Cole says that JR is his mentor and apologizes. Then Cena puts over JR’s bar b que sauce. Then Cole says it’s slobber knocker good. Cena says he wishes he had some bar be que sauce. Lawler has some. Then Cena hits Cole in the head with the mic. Then Lawler gives Cena the bar be que sauce and Cena pours it all over Cole. Then Cena gets out an extinguisher and he sprays Cole with it. Then Cena lifts Cole up for the AA but Tensai comes and slams Cena. Then Cole crawls over for the cover but Cena kicks out at 2. Then Cole screams at Cena. Then Cole gets the extinguisher but Cena caught Cole and gave him the AA for the 3 count. This was total crap! Cena was his usual over the top cartoon funny man self! Cena sprays Cole with the extinguisher again to end the show. AWFUL SEGMENT!

I wasn’t into this week’s show. There wasn’t much on here that was memorable. The Cena-Cole promo at the start was awful and the “match” was even worse. The Cena-Tensai match wasn’t great either. It was the typical Cena gets beat down and makes the Super Cena comeback. Sheamus-Dolph was a solid match and I thought Del Rio locking Sheamus in the arm breaker on the edge of the stage was good. I also liked the Punk-Kane match. I knew Bryan & AJ were gonna get involved but that was good too. I liked AJ in the back with Josh Mathews too. AJ does a good job at playing the psycho. The tag match was good but it didn’t really make sense to have Kofi & Truth doing their regular spots while being taped up from Big Show’s beating last week. I thought the Big Show video package was good too. It seems like no one’s an entertainer these days. First Lesnar no Big Show. Overall I thought this was a weak show.
