6-14-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the June 14, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Chris Sabin & Zima Ion in the ring set for the Ultimate X match.

X Division Champion Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin vs. Zima Ion in an Ultimate X match for the Title. Aries wins. This was a good match and a nice to start the show.

Afterwards Aries gets the mic and says that less then a year ago he came to TNA and he said there wasn’t a person he can’t beat. He said that he is the best pound for pound wrestler in TNA. He says that people thought he was full of hot air at first but he kept knocking it out of the park every time. Then he mentions that where on the card his match is, he is always the main event and the fans get their moneys worth. Then he says that he isn’t satisfied with the X Division Title. He says that he isn’t here to earn respect he is here to take it. Then Hulk Hogan comes out and Aries says that’s just the guy he wants to see. Back from commercial and Hogan is in the ring with Aries. Hogan says that he hears how loud it gets whenever Aries comes out. Then Hulk says that Aries saying he is always the main event is a tall order. Hulk says that he knows what it’s like to headline shows and break records. The fans chant Hogan and Aries says he’ trying to listen to him. Then Hulk says that he has never gotten the kind of goose bumps that he has from watching Aries wrestle. Hulk says that Aries is the greatest man he’s seen in the ring. Aries then says he wants to be in the main event. Hulk says he can make that happen a t Destination X. hulk says that he will book Aries-Roode for the PPV, but he can’t have 1 guy being champion of both divisions. Then he tells Aries to give up the X Title. He then says that if Aries beats Roode he will become World Champion. Hulk then says that he and the fans believe in him and they know he can do it. Aries says that he busted his ass for the X Title and now Hulk wants him to give it up. Then Hulk says that he wants to give Aries a chance to be the main event. Hulk gives Aries a week to make his decision. This was a good promo but I don’t get why they’re saying Aries has to give up the X Title if he wants to challenge for the World Title.

Joseph Park is backstage at catering with some people saying how great if felt at the PPV. They walk out and then Bully Ray comes in. He asks Joseph where Abyss is. Joseph says that when he last saw him he put Ray through a table. Ray knocks over the table and says that he will not rest till he finds Abyss. This was a good backstage segment.

TV Champion Devon vs. Hernandez for the Title. Devon gets the pin. This was a solid match.

AJ Styles I backstage with Dixie and he says he the longer they keep the secret the more ammunition Daniels & Kazarian get. Dixie says people are gonna get hurt. AJ says people already have. Then Dixie mentions to AJ that he has a match. This storyline is so idiotic.

Bound For Glory Series Gauntlet Battle Royal. James Storm wins to get 20 points. This was good. Battle Royals are usually entertaining. After the match Storm get the mic and says talks about how he thought his luck ran out. Then he says that for 2 months he’s been with his family on his farm. Then he brings up his daughter asking if was going back to wrestling. He says it wasn’t the question but what she meant by it. He says that he knows what wrestling means to him but never knew what it meant to his daughter. Then he thanks the fans. He says that he returned to become World Champion. He says that The Cowboy James Storm is back. Then he says that he prays that Bobby Roode will be champion because that will be a bonus of whipping Roode’s ass. This was a really good promo.

Entrance sequence
1. AJ Styles 2. Jeff Hardy 3. Rob Van Dam 4. Magnus 5. Bully Ray 6. Kurt Angle 7. Pope D’Angelo Dinero 8. Robbie E 9. Christopher Daniels 10. Samoa Joe 11. James Storm

Elimination sequence

1. Jeff by Ray before # 8 2. Ray by Abyss (who came from under the ring and isn’t in the match) before # 8 3. RVD before # 9 4. AJ by Daniels before # 10 5. Angle by Daniels before # 10 6. Robbie E by Joe before # 11 7. Magnus by Joe before # 11 8. Pope by Storm 9. Daniels by Storm 10. Joe by Storm

Bobby Roode is backstage and says Storm returned because he is jealous of him. Roode says that he has no problem facing James Storm, but tonight he has bigger fish to fry, in the form of an asshole. This was a good promo.

Kurt Angle & AJ Styles are backstage and Angle is telling him to get Daniels & Kazarian out of his head. Angle says that AJ is screwing up. AJ promises to get focused. This was ok.

Knockouts Champion Brooke Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne. Tessmacher gets the pin. This was a decent match.

Brooke Hogan is backstage with Gail Kim. Brooke mentions that next week is open fight night and that there will be for Knockouts. Gail says that she should be the number one contender. She says that she has a rematch clause. Brooke tells her that she gets to decide when that happens. Then Brooke tells Gail that she won’t be part of open fight night. This was lame.

Ken Anderson vs. TNA World Champion Bobby Roode for the Title. Roode wins by submission. This was a good match. Ken Anderson will be the 12th guy in the Bound for Glory series.

AJ Styles & Dixie Carter are backstage again. Dixie says they will come clean next week. Then they hug. This was idiotic.

They re play a few clips of what happened through out the show.

Jeremy Borash is in the ring and he mentions that Dixie Carter announced Sting as the first TNA Hall of Fame inductee.

Then they show they Sting video package.

JB introduces Sting and Sting comes out. Sting says that being the first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame means a lot to him. Then he says that there are so many others in TNA who deserve to be Hall of Famers also. Than he thanks Jeff & Jerry Jarrett for founding the company. Then he thanks Dixie and the Carter family. Then 3 masked guys come out of nowhere and pummel Sting. That ends the show. That was a weird ending.

I thought this was a really good show on the whole. There were a lot of good matches on the show. I liked the Ultimate X match. I thought all 3 guys worked hard. I hope Sabin isn’t injured for real. I also liked the Aries-Hogan segment but I don’t get why they’re saying Austin Aries has to give up the X Title. Aries-Roode should be a good match though. I enjoyed the battle royal too. I knew James Storm was gonna win. Storm’s promo afterwards was really good too. It was cool to see Pope return but they didn’t really do much with him. Devon-Hernandez was a solid match too. The backstage bit with Joseph & Ray was a good way to continue that feud too. I wasn’t into the AJ-Dixie backstage segments. This storyline is beyond stupid! I wasn’t into the Brooke Hogan-Gail Kim segment either. The Tessmacher-Madison match was decent too. I also liked the Anderson-Roode match. The end was interesting. Sting gave a nice speech and I’m curious to see how they follow up the masked guys attacking Sting. Overall I thought this was a really entertaining show.
