10-3-11 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 3, 2011 episode of Raw

The show starts with Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre. Orton gets the pin. This was a decent match and went longer than I thought it would. After the match Orton gives Drew a second RKO. Mark Henry then comes out and stares at Orton from outside the ring and holds up the World Title. Orton goes after and they go at but security tries to break them up. Orton & Henry were pulled off each other by security and they kept breaking through. Orton clotheslines Henry over the barrier. It’s nice they started the show with a match this week. The Orton-Henry brawl was really good too. This is the best Orton’s been in years and Mark Henry continues to be dominant.

Back from commercial and Mark Henry is in the ring. They show a Mark Henry video package of him taking out Big Show and they mention that Big Show will return on this week’s Smackdown. Back to the ring & John Morrison comes out. Time for match number 2.

John Morrison vs. World Champion Mark Henry. Henry gets the pin. This was a solid match too. They gave Morrison some good moments of offense here before Henry got him. After the match Henry gives him a second World’s Strongest Slam. Henry then gets the mic and tells Morrison that he and Orton now know what it’s like to be in the ring with a beast and he says that he is done with Orton. He talks about Smackdown and how Big Show is looking for him and that he isn’t hard to find and tells Show that when he shows up it will be the shortest return in WWE history because he will go right back in the hall of pain. This was really great intense promo from Henry. He is easily the best guy in WWE right now.

They show Johnny Ace backstage with Del Rio, David Otunga, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero. Ace asks Otunga if he had anything to do with the lawsuit that Miz & Truth filed. Otunga says that he is non committal and that he wants to make sure that HHH deals with the legit lawsuits. Vickie says they should mention what they’ll do in the ring and they head out there. This segment wasn’t much.

Back from commercial and the heals are in the ring and then Alberto Del Rio comes out. Del Rio gets the mic and mentions that he became WWE Champion last night but couldn’t celebrate his win because Miz and Truth attacked him and he blames Triple H. He mentions how the cage was raised after the match and that let them come in and then the cage was lowered again. He says that Triple H is only with the power to do that. Christian takes the mic and says that Raw has become unsafe since HHH took and that he isn’t going to take it anymore. Cody then says that it is a fact that everyone has been a victim of Triple H’s negligence. Dolph then says that they will take action into their own hands. Swagger says that his friends and family are concerned for him when he goes into the ring because of HHH. Vickie then says that as a woman she feels especially vulnerable with HHH in charge. Otunga then says that they can keep working or they band together and go with legal action. Triple H’s music plays and he comes out and asks what happened to the WWE. He mentions how men used to stand in the ring and fight no matter what. He says he doesn’t care about the lawsuits but he does care about the 12 man tag match later tonight and that he doesn’t want the heals threatening to sue them, but to do what the people pay to see them do and that is shut up and fight.

Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres vs. Natalya & Divas Champion Beth Phoenix. The match ends in a quick double count out when all 4 brawl outside the ring in front of the announce table. Kelly continues to attack Beth and the referee and Eve had to pull her off. This was good actually. I like that they’re having Kelly be more aggressive.

HHH is on his phone and Johnny Ace walks in and he apologizes for letting Miz & Truth coming in and then says that he wants HHH to apologize to him after he hit him after Miz & Truth were taking out. Ace then asks him if he can accept the answers that the talent will give him is doing his job. HHH says that he is worried that he is undermining him or is too stupid. H then tells Ace to get everyone in the ring and tells him to be in the ring too. This was painful. I’m really tired of these 2 guys.

Jinder Mahal is in the ring with a mic and talks in his language and then Santino Marella comes out for the match. He takes the mic and speaks Italian and he and Jinder go back on forth on the mic speaking their native languages.

Santino Marella vs. Jinder Mahal. Santino get the pin. This was a real short match.

They show a Brodus Clay video package. This was cool to watch.

They show what happened last night after the PPV ended. This was good stuff. I thought it was funny when Miz & Truth surrendered and let the cops take them out. They played it up like this was something that has never happened before, but of course we’ve seen this bit many times. I thought it was good though.

They show a video from Miz & Truth saying that they wanted their jobs back but HHH wouldn’t listen and they had to make a statement. They then mention HHH attacking them after they were cuffed and Miz says that they have pressed assault charges against HHH. This was a good promo from these guys. They’re good with their delivery.

CM Punk, Sheamus, WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne, John Cena & Mason Ryan vs. WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, Christian, Jack Swagger & David Otunga. Bourne had Swagger pinned but Vickie placed Swagger’s foot on the rope and the referee kicked Vickie Guerrero out. She refused to go at first but eventually left. The faces win when Sheamus pins Dolph. This was a really good long match.

The whole roster comes out for Triple H’s vote of confidence. Jerry Lawler returns too. Back from commercial and Triple H comes out. He says that the job is harder than he thought it would be and that he did not ask for the job. He talks about Miz & Truth calling him a hypocrite and H says that they should be apologizing to the fans for being babies. He says that he is a bit old school and likes chaos and seeing beat the crap out of each other and says the fans do too. He then says that at the end of the day it’s the WWE fans that they work for (YEAH RIGHT!) H says he tries to make Raw the best it can be for the fans and then he says he wants to hear the roster’s opinions. Wade Barrett takes the mic and says that H has made WWE an unsafe place. He mentions that they’re there because they’re competitors and that HHH isn’t capable of being COO and mentions that he likes to put his hands on his own talent and that HHH is out of control. HHH then mentions Nexus and then says that Barrett has a problem with the chaos because he is not the one causing it. Referee Mike Chioda takes the mic and says that he has never seen this much abuse since HHH has become COO. He then says that he’s afraid to come to work. Beth says that speaking for the Divas that HHH being COO something could happen. HHH says to name one thing that’s happened to the Divas and Beth says that it might happen. Jerry Lawler than gets in the ring and agrees that show is out of control more than ever. He says that he doesn’t think it’s Triple H’s fault, and that there is some one plotting against Triple H and they’re all paying the price for it. He then says that as long as HHH runs the company things will get worse. Christian then says to get the vote going and Christian says that he and his team vote no confidence as do the referees and Beth Phoenix for the Divas. Lawler also votes no confidence. Lawler then says that he is reluctantly walking out and he does. The rest of locker room walks out too in disgust. Michael Cole also leaves as does Booker T. The cameramen also walk out. Triple H then looks at Jim Ross and JR takes his head set off and he also walks out. The fans chanted Triple H the whole time and applauded him after everyone left. Johnny Ace then comes out on the stage and the fans chant “you suck” at him. Ace then goes to the back. The fans continue to cheer for Triple H as he stands by himself in the ring to end the show. This was good stuff for the most part except for HHH saying that they work for the fans and that he tries to make Raw as fun as possible. Everyone knows that Vince thinks that he knows what we want better than we do and almost NEVER listens to the fans!! I thought the rest of this was good though. Barrett cut a good promo as did Mike Chioda. Christian was good also and Jerry Lawler also gave a great promo before he walked out.

I thought that on the whole this was a good show. I liked that they started the show with a match this week, that being Orton vs. McIntyre. That match was decent and went longer than I thought it would. Mark Henry and John Morrison had a good match too. Mark Henry is my favorite guy in the company right now. The Miz & R-Truth video was also entertaining. The 12 man tag was good also as was the closing segment. Good show overall this week.
