10-13-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the October 13, 2011 episode of Impact

The show starts with Kurt Angle coming to the ring and he asks Bobby Roode to come out. Roode came out and Angle congratulated Roode on winning his matches with his Fortune team mates and then he talks about all the Titles he won in every promotion he competed in and will prove to everyone Sunday that he is the greatest wrestler of all time.   Angle wants to shake his hand but Roode doesn’t buy it. Roode then cuts a promo about winning the World Title and he wants to know who the best wrestler is and that he doesn’t want anyone at ringside. Angle agreed and then told Roode that he has a handicap match later tonight against Gunner & Jeff Jarrett. This was a good segment. Both guys cut great promos.

They show RVD & AJ Styles brawling with Jerry Lynn & Christopher Daniels backstage.

Back from commercial and Daniels & Lynn bring AJ to the ring and the match starts. RVD comes out afterwards.

AJ Styles & Rob Van Dam vs. Christopher Daniels & Jerry Lynn. AJ & RVD win when AJ pins Lynn. This was a good match.

Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe. Morgan gets the pin. This was decent but short match. After the match Joe attacked Morgan and Crimson came out with a chair and he ran Joe off. Joe then says that Morgan and Crimson are afraid to face each other so they attack him. He then challenged them to a 3 Way at Bound For Glory.

Mexican America are in the ring and they rag on Ink inc. Ink Inc come out and they tell Mexican America to get the hell out. Mexican America then attack Ink Inc and then Ink Inc’s new valet comes out and goes after Rosita & Sarita and Ink Inc cleaned house on the champs. Jessie then tells them to bring all the women they want at BFG because they have theirs. I wasn’t too fond of this segment. These guys don’t do it for me.

Jessie Sorensen & Brian Kendrick vs. Kid Kash & X Division Champion Austin Aries. Jessie & Brian win when Kendrick pins Aries. This was a good back and forth match.

They show Karen Jarrett & Traci Brooks backstage headed for the ring. Oh joy.

Velvet Sky comes to the ring, then Mickie James, followed by Winter and Angelina and finally Karen & Traci come out with Madison Rayne. Karen gets the mic and says she expects them to make her proud at BFG and that she had to fight to get them on the card because no one wanted them on the show. She mentions that BFG is a show for the upper class. She turns her attention to Velvet and Velvet asks what her problem is and Karen says that she’s class and Velvet is trash and rags on Velvet some more. Velvet then says that there will be a time when Karen will respect her because she will be the next Knockouts Champion. Karen says over her dead body and Velvet pushes Karen over Traci who was in position on her hands and knees. They then start to brawl and security comes in to break it up. Karen then yells at Traci. This segment was awful.

Bully Ray promo backstage telling Anderson not to piss him off cause he might not make it to BFG. This was a good short promo from Ray.

AJ Styles promo backstage saying that Daniels wanted to have another match and that he doesn’t quit. Daniels then attacks him and says that he wants the world to hear him say “I Quit.” This was a good segment.

Ken Anderson vs. Scott Steiner with Bully Ray as the guest enforcer. Anderson gets the pin. Abyss came to the ring and had Steiner hold Anderson to hit him with the chain but Anderson ducked and Steiner got hit. Anderson then got the pin. Ray then chews out Abyss and Gunner & Jeff Jarrett come out and they rag on Abyss. Abyss then grabs Ray’s throat and then Immortal beat Abyss down and Ray was going to put Abyss threw a table but Ken Anderson came back out but was taken out and Ray put him through the table.

Kurt Angle walks into James Storm’s dressing room and Storm says that Angle caused him the match with Roode by ramming him head first into the steps. Angle tries to worm his way out of it and blame Roode and Storm says that he spoke to Bobby and that he had no idea Kurt was coming out. Angle asks him if he’s ok with that.

Backstage promo with Jeff Jarrett & Gunner talking about their handicap match with Bobby Roode.

They have Bobby Roode-Kurt Angle video package with each saying that they will be World Champion. This was a good video piece.

Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Jarrett & Gunner. Roode wins when he makes Gunner tap. This was a solid match. After the match Bully Ray & Scott Steiner come out and attack Roode, but James Storm comes out to make the save. Gunner then attacks Storm from behind and Jarrett hits Storm with the AAA Title. Kurt Angle comes out and Immortal held up and Kurt to let Roode have it when Jeff Hardy came out and cleaned house on Immortal. Jeff offers his hand to Storm and Storm refuses. Jeff then goes to shake Roode’s hand and he does. Storm then blocked Jeff from walking out, but they both raised his arms and they posed.

Jeff Hardy cuts a promo backstage saying that he’s been redeeming himself. Jeff Jarrett then came in and says that they had a friendship at first, but now Jeff Hardy’s no longer part of the company and he tells him not to show up at BFG. Hardy then walks out and Jarrett asks him where he is going and Hardy that he is going to buy a ticket to Philly.

They have a contract signing for Sting vs. Hogan for the PPV. Borash hands the contract to Hogan and he shoves it away to Sting and he signs it. Hogan then signs the contract. JB asks if they any final words and Hogan knocks over the table and takes the mic and says that they had an encounter but Sting was glad when it was over, but for Sting to come to TNA while He & Bischoff were trying get the company back on track, Sting went as low as he could and his from Hogan. He then says that Sting wanted the real Hulk Hogan and now he’s got him and he again says that his wrestling career is over. He then rags on Sting for embarrassing him in front of his fans and that this will be the fight of Sting’s life and this will be man on man. Sting shakes Hogan’s hand and Hogan says that he hopes he’s ready. Eric Bischoff then comes out and distracted Sting and that allowed Hogan to hit him with a chair and attack him in the corner to end the show. This was a typical Sting-Hogan segment I thought. I hope they end this Sunday.

I thought that this was a decent show on the whole. The contract signing was ok for what it was. The RVD & AJ vs. Lynn & Daniels match was good and so was Jessie Sorensen & Brian Kendrick vs. Kid Kash & Austin Aries. I also liked the Roode-Angle video package. They did a really great job with that. I wasn’t too fond of the Ink Inc-Mexican America segment or the Knockouts in the ring with Karen cutting her usual promo. I thought that Daniels attacking AJ in the back was good and even the backstage promo with Hardy & Jarrett was good too. Overall this was a solid show. I thought that they did a good job with the final hype for Bound For Glory.
