2-6-12 Raw results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the February 6, 2012 episode of Raw

The show starts with Triple H coming to the ring and he says that he was out there last week to can Johnny Ace. He mentioned that he never got to it and then he says that Ace is backstabbing, lying weasel and those are his good qualities. Then he mentions that Ace flew to Stamford pleading with the Board of Directors and they told not to make a final decision till they review everything. Then he mentions that the board might make a decision tomorrow morning. Then he talks about The Undertaker returning. He mentions that he hadn’t been seen since WrestleMania last year. He says that when Taker’s gong goes he gets butterflies in his stomach after 20 years and that he stands before him truly humbled to be in the ring with him. He mentions that Taker pointed to the WrestleMania sign, which meant he wanted a rematch. Then he says that last week he wasn’t humbled to stand in front of him but was sorry and felt bad for him. He says that he chooses to remember Taker in a certain way. Then they show a video package of Undertaker highlights. Triple H says that is how he wants to remember Taker and not this way. Then they show Taker being wheeled out at WrestleMania last year. Triple H says that Taker’s legacy will never be matched and mentions the 19-0 streak. He then says that out of respect he says no to Taker’s challenge. Then he mentions their match from last year and how Taker kept coming back. He then says that if they have a rematch this year Triple H will have to finish it and maybe that’s what Taker wants. He mentions that Taker has limits and that they saw them last year and that he will not be the guy who pushes him past them. Then he says that this is over. His music plays, but then stops and the lights go out and they show the back of his head and clips from last year’s match with Taker saying, “This is not over.” Then he says that his win over him means nothing and Taker says to give him what he wants which is vengeance and he will give Triple H immortality. Then he says this is not over again. Then they go back to Triple H. This was a decent opening segment. I liked that Triple H put over Undertaker and his career. The video with Taker saying this is not over was cool too.

Before the Big Show-Daniel Bryan match starts Bryan has AJ come out. She’s reluctant but he tells her she will be safe.

Big Show vs. World Champion Daniel Bryan. Big Show wins by count out when Bryan takes AJ to the back. Then Bryan gets on the mic and asks what kind of man Big Show is. He says that Show just proved that when ran into AJ it was on purpose. Then he says that protecting AJ means more than winning or losing but at the Elimination Chamber he will still be World Champion. The match wasn’t much. Bryan faked a knee injury and then Show was goin to splash Daniel but he got out of the way and Show almost hit AJ again. Daniel’s promo was decent but I’m not sure why they’re pushing him being a vegan. Also how is anyone supposed to take him seriously after Michael Cole has been ragging on him for 2 YEARS and now that he’s a heal the other commentators aren’t speaking fondly of him either. WWE does it again!

They show a NASCAR driver pulling into the building and he invites Cena to start some NASCAR race February 26. Then they talk about his match with The Rock at WrestleMania. This was from last Monday. This was lame.

They show a video package for the Elimination Chamber match.

David Otunga is in the ring and he says that he never had a boss more creative or intelligent as Johnny Ace. He says that he can only Pray that that the Board of Directors lets him keep his job as Raw GM. Then he kneels and Prays. Then Justin Roberts says that he got word from Triple H that Otunga will be in a match right now. Sheamus’ music plays and he comes out.

Sheamus vs. David Otunga. Sheamus gets the pin. Sheamus beat the crap out of Otunga most of the match. Otunga’s promo was horrific and the match wasn’t much either.

The lights in the arena go out and Chris Jericho comes to the ring. He says that the end of the world as we know it has arrived. He says that everyone on the roster is a rip off of him. Then he says that every fan is also a Chris Jericho wanna be. He then says that he manipulated the fans without speaking. Then he mentions how Miz, Kofi, R-Truth, Dolph & CM Punk have all copied him in different ways. Then he says that Punk is not original and isn’t the best in the world. Jericho says that he is the best in the world at everything he does and he mentions how he became the first Undisputed Champion and that he has earned the write to be called the best in the world. He then says that it is the end of the world as we know it because he is back to reclaim what is his. Then CM Punk’s music plays and he comes to the ring with a mic. He and Jericho have a stare down and Punk drops the mic and holds up the belt. Then he turns his back to Jericho and walks out. Then Jericho screams at Punk for not saying anything. This was good stuff. I thought Jericho cut a good promo and I liked that they had Punk be the guy to not speak. This feud has the potential to be really good. Hopefully WWE doesn’t drop the ball with this.

Randy Orton & Great Khali vs. Wade Barrett & Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. Orton & Khali win when Khali pins Cody. I’m not sure they had Cody job to Khali. Afterwards, Khali grabs Orton by the throat and then pushes him off the ropes but Orton ducks and gives Khali an RKO. This match was ok for what it was.

They show the John Cena video package. I hope they’re not gonna show the same video package on every show till WrestleMania! I get building up to his match with The Rock but they should have different video packages for both guys! I’m already tired of the ones they show now.

Eve Torres, Tamina, Alicia Fox & Kelly Kelly vs. The Bella Twins, Natalya & Divas Champion Beth Phoenix. Eve, Tamina, Alicia & Kelly win when Tamina pins one of the Bellas. This was filler. I don’t know why they had this match again after having this was a filler match at the Royal Rumble!

They show a clip of The Rock on The Tonight Show that will be on channel 4 later tonight.

Triple H is on his phone and Johnny Ace comes in and says that he met with the board and he will accept whatever decision they make. Then he tells Triple H that Shawn Michaels will be on Raw next week. Then he says that he suggested to the board to have John Cena face Kane at the Elimination Chamber in an Ambulance Match. Triple H says that sounds like a good idea and then he threatens to put Ace in an ambulance right now. This was terrible.

Michael Cole announces that the Board of Director decision about Johnny Ace will be posted on wwe.com at tomorrow morning.

Then they reshow the Undertaker video package from the start of the show.

Josh Mathews asks Johnny Ace what he thinks the Board will decide. Ace says that he has made mistakes and that the board will make the right decision. Then he mentions how Triple refused to face Undertaker.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz in a 6 Pack Challenge. The winner will be the last one to enter the Elimination Chamber match. Jericho wins when he pins Dolph. This was a good match. R-Truth was taken out because of an injury after he dove out of the ring (hope it’s not a real one). Jericho sits in the ring with holding the belt as Punk looks on from the floor.

Then Kane is telling Eve that Cena is starting to embrace the hate and says that he is afraid for Eve, Cena or anyone who gets in his path if Cena doesn’t embrace the hate. Then he says that he is afraid of himself. This crap ends the show! Eve was crying in freight the whole time.

I thought that this was a weak show overall. There weren’t too many memorable matches/segments on here. The 6 man main event was good and I hope R-Truth isn’t legit injured. The opening Triple H promo was decent and I liked the Undertaker video. The whole bit with Johnny Ace was awful as usual and I could care less what they’re gonna do with him. The Big Show-Daniel Bryan match wasn’t much either. It was more of a continuation of their feud, which was ok but it was more of an angle than a match. David Otunga cutting a promo was awful and then Sheamus squashing him wasn’t much. The divas match was filler and I don’t know why they had the same match that was at the Rumble (I did read that Eve broke her nose during the match after Beth gave her a hard clothesline. I hope she’s gonna be ok). The backstage segment that ended the show with Kane & Eve was retched! I don’t know why they decided to end the show with this idiocy. They should have ended the show with Jericho sitting in the ring holding the belt. On the whole I thought this was a weak Raw.
