2-2-12 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the February 2, 2012 episode of Impact

The show starts with Bully Ray & Bobby Roode coming to the ring and Ray asks the fans how many of them came to see Jeff Hardy. The crowd pops and Ray says that they won’t see him tonight and mentions how the laid out Jeff Hardy last week and says the fans will never see him again. Then Roode says it feels great to be back in Ireland and says that there isn’t a difference between there & England (That was kinda funny). He says that they’re happy about what they did to Jeff last week and then he says they didn’t finish the job. Then he calls out James Storm. Storm comes out and Ray tells him not to come close to the champ. Then Sting comes out and says that he spoke with Jeff Hardy and says that Jeff will be ready for Against All Odds and says that the PPV World Title match will be a 4 Way (I knew they were gonna do this). Champion Bobby Roode vs. James Storm vs. Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy (who is not in London because of his North Carolina conviction). Then Sting says that James Storm will face Bobby Roode & later on will face Bull Ray in 2 singles matches tonight. This was a good opening segment. Ray & Roode cut good promos as usual and Sting’s promo was good too. I liked this segment. It was good and short. I’m not sure why they’re having Storm wrestle twice, but the matches should be good.

They show Garrett backstage on his cell phone leaving someone a message. Brother!

TNA World Tag Team Champions Matt Morgan & Crimson vs. Magnus & Samoa Joe in a “Buckingham Brawl.” JB announces that there will be a coin toss to see which team will get to be in the ring at the same time. Magnus & Joe win the toss. Magnus & Joe also win the match when Magnus pins Morgan. This was a good match.

They show Eric Bischoff walking backstage.

Eric Bischoff comes out and talks about Garrett living his fantasy about becoming a wrestler and trying to follow in his dad’s foot steps. Then he calls out Garrett. Garrett comes out and Eric says that Garrett’s goals became a fantasy. He says that Garret’s trainer will never do anything for him and Garrett made a bad choice. Then Garrett tells his dad that if Eric has a problem with his trainer then he should take it up with him. Eric says he isn’t coming. Then Garrett gets a call from his trainer. Garrett tells Eric that when he’s right he’s right, but when he’s wrong he’s dead wrong because he is in the building and wants to talk with Eric later tonight. I’m not a fan of the Bischoff and Son storyline so I wasn’t really into this.

They show a video package about Mark Haskins with him mentioning his wrestling background. This was good.

Mark Haskins vs. X Division Champion Austin Aries. Aries wins by submission. This was a good back and forth match.

They show Eric Bischoff on his cell phone calling for a cab. Then Sting comes in and says to cancel the cab. Then he tells Eric that there’s a show and he shows him back inside.

James Storm vs. TNA World Champion Bobby Roode. Roode gets the pin when Bully Ray comes in. This was a really good back and forth match! After wards they double team Storm and Sting comes out to make the save.

Tara vs. Knockouts Champion & Knockouts Tag Team Champion Gail Kim. Tara gets the pin after Madison Rayne’s interference backfires. This was a good match too.

They show Garrett Bischoff backstage on his way to the ring.

Garrett Bischoff comes to the ring and thanks the fans for supporting him. Then he was about to announce who is trainer is but Eric Bischoff & Gunner come to the ring and says that his trainer isn’t coming. Then Hulk Hogan’s music plays and he makes his TNA return and he & Garrett each take shots at Gunner and Gunner finally bails. Then Garrett & Hogan get in Eric’s face but Gunner pulls Eric out of the ring and they head to the back while Hogan & Garrett pose in the ring. This was weak to say the least. Hogan got a huge pop but I’m not into this whole storyline.

Hulk Hogan says that Eric can run but he can’t hide from the London Hulkamaniacs. Then Garrett gloats a bit, then back to Hogan and he says Eric hasn’t got that much time left. Then he says that it has been 18 years since he’s been in London. Then he says that TNA is really close to being the greatest company of all time. Then he says that total greatness is what’s next for TNA. I wasn’t into this either. I’m so tired of Hogan yapping and saying all this crap. I do know that morale in TNA is low and I believe their TV deal with Spike ends in October and they haven’t resigned yet.

James Storm vs. Bully Ray. Storm gets the pin. Sting prevents Roode from getting involved. This was a really good match too. Roode walks to the back while Storm stands on the turnbuckle and stares down Ray. That ends the show.

I thought that this was a good show on the whole. There were good matches on here and most of the segments were good. I liked the opening segment and Storm’s 2 matches were really good. Storm, Roode & Ray are really talented! Tara & Gail Kim had a good match too. They’re 2 of the best women wrestlers in TNA. Mark Haskins-Austin Aries was good too but the spot where Haskins missed the Shooting Star Press and landed on the mat made me cringe a bit. Besides the whole Hulk-Garrett-Eric segments I liked everything else they had on the show this week.
