and thoughts on the October 10, 2013 episode of Impact
The show starts with Dixie Carter coming to the ring
(This is gonna be really painful. Why is Dixie copying Stephanie)? She says
last week we all saw what a self-absorbed guy the Hulkster is. (She never
mentioned him by name). That is why he will never be mentioned by name in her
company. She’s the one who provided the chance for this nameless guy to come
into her company. She didn’t need him. She doesn’t need anybody to tell her how
to run her company. No Vince, no Eric Bischoff, no Mr. Stephanie Levesque &
No Jarretts. She’s the best in the business. Last week she asked AJ Styles to
leave her building & later on he jumped the rail. The fans boo. Dixie says
AJ isn’t needed in TNA. The hard working world champ needs a break. She’s gonna
let him gave cart Blanche. Whatever. Then out comes Sting. He asks what’s going
on. Dixie’s glad he’s out there. We’re all hearing that AJ is saying BFG will
be Dixie’s wake up call. Well Dixie’s awake & he others need to wake up
& realize they’re under her review. That includes Sting. It was Sting who
said he had the best guy to be the company GM & we all know how that tuned
out. Then she asks him where he gets off making a match with Magnus. Does Sting
want is TNA career to be over? She doesn’t wanna get rid of him but she will.
Dixie asks who wants to see Sting wrestle. Then she says that Sting &
Magnus will face Daniels & Kazarian tonight. Since Sting has built up the
expectation of his PPV match on her PPV she & the fans wanna see this taken
to another level. So tonight if either Sting or Magnus lose they won’t be at
BFG. Sting’s future is in the palm of her hands. Then she tells “Steve” that’s
what is going on. She wants him to win & wishes him luck. Man this was
stupid! I don’t get why Dixie’s copying Stephanie. She comes across really second
rate! Plus why would she give Bully Ray Cart Blanche when he tried to take over
her company. They’re having Dixie pretty much saying she wants Ray as the face
of TNA just like Stephanie has been saying she wants Orton as the face of WWE! This
whole promo was terrible! I have no idea why they’re doing the same storyline
WWE is doing!
Backstage camera guy catches up with Austin Aries.
Aries is no stranger to the X Division. He’s the guy who started option C.
Ultimate X is Jeff’s idea cause Jeff needs the spectacle & high wires. Aries
is a wrestler & tonight he will show why he will remain undefeated in
Ultimate X & become X Division Champion once again.
Backstage AJ says it’s nice to be let back in the building
without security chasing him around. He doesn’t back down from a fight. Bully
& Dixie know that. Dixie also knows AJ will make her pay. He will win the
world title at BFG.
Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries. Aries gets the pin. This was a great back
& forth match. Afterwards Samoa Joe comes out. He congratulates Aries on
beating Jeff. That’s not why he’s out there. A week ago Aries put himself in an
X Division Title match. Then Jeff, not wanting to be outdone he made it
Ultimate X. Come BFG there will be a 5th guy in Ultimate X &
that guy is him. He tells Aries, Jeff, Sabin & Manik they’ve all been put
on notice. At BFG “Joe is gonna kill you.” Joe cut a good promo here. I’m glad
he will be on the PPV.
Backstage we see Robbie E & Jessie. Robbie asks
him what was with the loss to ODB. Jessie says that doesn’t matter. Jessie
mentions that Robbie lost to EY & Joseph Park in 5 seconds. Jessie says
that Dixie said they needed to start stepping up & that’s what’s he’s gonna
do tonight by taking care of their biggest problem. Jessie walks off as Robbie
follows asking him what they’re biggest problem is “bro.” This was typical
Robbie E- Jessie.
From earlier in the day they show JB telling the
fans they can follow EY & Joseph Park on their BFG road trip. EY & Park
are psyched. Then they get out of the van. EY says ODB has a match tonight so
he can’t leave.
Robbie E & Jessie are in the ring. Jessie says
how about ODB comes out right now & they’ll have a chance to embarrass her
just like she embarrassed Jessie. Out come EY & ODB.
Knockouts Champion ODB vs. Jessie Godderz. During
this Lei’D Tapa comes out. She attacks ODB & the referee calls for the
bell. WINNER BY DQ – ODB. Tapa continues to beat down ODB. Then she gives ODB a
TKO. Then she takes the Knockouts Title & stands over ODB as she holds it
over her head. The match was typical ODB comedy. Also EY & Robbie fought to
the back just before Tapa came out. I guess EY must’ve missed her on the way
back since she came out just seconds after he went backstage.
Backstage camera guy asks Bully Ray about a revenge
match. Ray asks what part of that he doesn’t get. Then he says he’s on his way
to take care of it.
Backstage Garrett tells Ray Aces & 8s is down to
3 guys because of Ray. Ray says they’re down to 3 because of Ken Anderson. He’s
the guy who put Devon’s career on the line. Anderson’s the guy who let his ego
get in the way & challenged him for the title. Knox & Garrett wouldn’t
have done it. Garrett says Ray didn’t have to pile drive him on the stage.
Tonight Ray has a shot at revenge. Tonight he’s giving Knox & Garrett the
chance to take out AJ. He wants them to be why AJ doesn’t make it to BFG &
to make sure the world title remains in the club (What’s left of it). They’re with
him. This was meaningless. Aces & 8s is pretty much done & I have no
idea why Knox & Garrett are still letting Ray bully them around.
Cut to Sting & Magnus. Magnus says Sting needed
to give him a kick up the rear end. Magnus has the biggest match of life coming
up. Sting Says BFG is the biggest show of the year. He won the world title 3
times at BFG. He wants to show the world it’s still show time. Magnus mentions
what Dixie said earlier & says they should worry about tonight. This was ok
for what it was.
Then camera guy knocks on EGO’s door. Kazarian tells
him he can’t see the wizard yet. Daniels pops his head out the door. There’s no
party like EGO party. Then they tell the camera guy to scram. This was decent.
These guys are good.
Time for a Kurt Angle video package because he is
going into the TNA Hall of Fame this year.
Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian comes to
the ring in really funny suits. The ring is set up for Roode’s EGO HOF
induction. Daniels says tonight is throw back Thursday & they decided to
dress like the fans. Kazarian says the MLB HOF has yet to induct Jose Conseco,
the Rock ‘N Roll HOF has yet to induct Judas Priest & the Impact Wrestling
HOF has yet to induct Bad Influence. Then Kaz introduces the “It factor” Bobby
Roode. They unveil a portrait of Roode. Roode sits on the throne. Kazarian
slaved over a hot computer all week & made this for Roode. Then they show a
Bobby Roode video package. This was funny. Roode gets all choked up.
Daniels says that was inspirational.
Roode is a real Hall of Famer. Not like Sting, a guy who along with Magnus will
get a beating from him & Kaz. Roode deserves to be in the HOF. He is the
longest reigning TNA world Champion & the prime minister of suave & debonaire.
Daniels tells the fans to stand up for Roode. Daniels hugs Roode. Then Roode
thanks everyone. He says what an amazing moment this is. He needs to thank 2
amazing guys, Daniels & Kazarian. Without…he gets choked up. Roode promised
himself that he wouldn’t cry. Then he says that without Daniels & Kaz EGO
would’ve never taken place. There’s 1 more special guy who needs to be
recognized. Himself of course. The “It factor” of wrestling. Roode is the guy
who deserves the HOF induction, not Angle. The only reason Angle is in the HOF
is because of the fans. What has Angle done for Impact lately? Here’s what
Roode’s done. He’s made history as the longest & most dominant world
champion in the company’s history. Where oh where is Kurt Angle now? Then Angle’s
music plays & he makes his return. Angle takes his shirt off & gets in
the ring. Then he says that he’s been gone awhile & asks if Kaz &
Daniels are Roode’s girlfriends. Angle tosses Daniels & Kaz aside. Then
Angle goes after Roode but he bails. Angle says Roode made the biggest mistake
of his life. Angle has 1 more thing to say. Him & Roode at BFG. This was a
good segment. The EGO trio is hilarious & Angle’s return promo was solid
too but having him not know who Daniels & Kazarian were was dumb.
Backstage Roode is flipping out. He says Angle made
the biggest mistake of his life by ruining his night. Roode makes the
challenges, not Angle. Angle will get it at BFG.
Velvet Sky vs. Brooke (No longer being called
Tessmacher). Brooke gets the pin. This was solid. So Brooke will face both Gail
Kim & ODB at BFG for the Knockouts Title. I don’t know why they had this
match to see who will be the second challenger. They should’ve had the match be
ODB vs. Gail at BFG.
They show a clip from earlier in the day of Ethan
coming into the arena.
Then they show a video package on Ethan Carter the 3rd
aka EC3. That is lame.
Sting & Magnus vs. Christopher Daniels &
Frankie Kazarian. Sting & Magnus win when Sting pins Kazarian. This was decent.
Magnus looks at Sting all pissed because he didn’t get the win. Having Sting
& Magnus needing to win a tag match so they can face each other doesn’t
make sense though.
Backstage we see AJ. Dixie comes by. She asks if he
had an easier time getting into the building tonight. Then she says he doesn’t
have to face Knox & Garrett tonight. He doesn’t have to face Ray at BFG. She
gives him a check & says he can be a king in Gainesville with this kind of
money. He can start a row of trailers & a reading club for redneck kids. AJ
says you can buy a lot with this money but you can’t buy him. He rips up the
check & walks off. Then Dixie says she never signed the check anyway. This
was a mixed bag bit. Dixie was her usual terrible self here but AJ was good.
Bully Ray, Brooke, Knox & Garrett Bischoff come
to the ring. Ray tells Tenay his night is over & kicks him off commentary.
So Ray & Taz will be doing commentary.
AJ Styles vs. Knox & Garrett Bischoff. AJ wins
when he pins Garrett. This was decent.
Then Knox & Garrett beat on AJ. Then Ray gets in
the ring and shoves Knox & Garrett away. Then Ray stands over AJ & hits
him with the chain a few times. Then Ray asks AJ if he knows who he is before hitting him with
the chain again. Then AJ gets to his feet but Ray backdrops him over the top
rope onto the ramp. Then Ray says he’s taking AJ out. This ends the show.
I thought this was a decent to solid show for the
most part. I wasn’t into the Dixie promo at the start but I liked the end. The
handicap match was decent & I liked Ray laying out AJ to get more heel heat.
Jeff Hardy-Austin Aries was a really good back & forth match & I liked
Joe’s promo saying he will be the 5th guy in Ultimate X at BFG. The
EGO HOF segment was good too. Daniels & Kazarian are hysterical & Roode
is good here too. Angle’s promo was good too but I don’t know why he acted like
he’d never seen Daniels & Kazarian before. Velvet-Brooke was solid but I’m
not sure why this was to see who would be in a 3 way Knockouts Title match with
Gail & ODB. The ODB-Jessie match was typical ODB comedy. I liked Tapa
coming in & flattening ODB. They’re doing a good job of getting Tapa over.
Sting & Magnus vs. Daniels & Kazarian was decent too but having Sting
& Magnus needing to win a tag match to face each other didn’t make sense. I’m
not a fan of Ethan Carter or EC3. Overall though I thought this was a solid
show this week.
