5-26-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 26, 2011 episode of Impact
They had a Randy Savage tribute graphic. Good for TNA. Savage was one of the all time greats!

This week’s show begins with AJ Styles who still has a neck brace & Christopher Daniels vs. Tommy Dreamer & Bully Ray in a street fight. They’re starting the show with a match. AJ & Daniels get the win after AJ pins Dreamer. This was a great match with a lot of brawling and good spots.

Ken Anderson coming out dressed like old school Sting again for the “Scorpion Sit Down” and he brings out Glen Gilberti. He does a talk show like segment then lays Gilberti out. The real Sting then comes out and Anderson bails. This was actually pretty good I thought. Gilberti was decent on the mic and Anderson doing the Sting shouts was kinda funny.

Gunner attacks Eric Young in the bathroom and Young yaps more about the TV Title and the finger poke of doom saying they will do that match later. This was idiotic. Why bring up the finger poke of doom?

Velvet Sky comes out saying that she’s tired of accusations against her. ODB comes out and says that she was released a year ago for not having “the right look” and is tired of Knockouts like Velvet being what everyone thinks a female wrestler should be. She calls Velvet pathetic, which is why she attacked her last week then she attacked her again and security tried to break it up. Velvet escapes. This wasn’t as bad as the other Velvet segments, but still not that great.

Beer Money are in Bischoff’s office and Bischoff says that Roode’s torn ACL doesn’t look good and that he might have to take the Titles of them in a month. Bischoff yaps more and Storm says Roode won’t be healed before the PPV. This was typical Bischoff nonsense.

Pope interview in the back talking about his new issues with Devon on Xplosion.

Kurt Angle motivated Matt Morgan for his match with Jeff Jarrett.

Matt Morgan vs. Jeff Jarrett. Karen comes out with a crutch and trips Earl Hebner with it. Jarrett wins after Scott Steiner comes in while Hebner was tied up with Karen.

Time for an Eric Bischoff promo. He says that Hulk Hogan is the only person qualified to run TNA/Impact Wrestling, whatever they call it. Hulk comes out and brags about what a genius he is and how Bischoff got rid of the X-Division was genius too. I’m beyond tired of seeing these 2 guys come out and yap every week. If wrestling matters what are they doing on the show taking up TV time? Foley comes out and says that Hulk got the network’s goat and that the X-Division is here to stay. They go back and forth a bit about who runs the show, Hogan tries to talk Foley into challenging Abyss for the X-Division Title and Brian Kendrick, Amazing Red & The Bucks then come out. Kendrick says that he wants a Title match against Abyss and gets his wish. Nothin like putting emphasis on X-Division guys by having 2 former wrestlers and non wrestler go on and on for a whole segment! Hulk Hogan brother meter-9.

Winter yapping in the back more with Angelina about how things are going to change. This is the most ridiculous storyline in TNA! PLEASE END THIS!

Knockout’s Champion Mickie James vs. Winter. Mickie gets the pin. Then Angelina attacks Mickie. I guess that means Angelina will be getting a Title match next. Joy!

Abyss is in the back talking about his match with Kendrick and reads some nonsense. Abyss grabs Janice, but Kazarian lays out Abyss and says that Abyss will never use Janice again. Not much of a segment and I don’t know why the brought back the 2 x 4.

Brian Kendrick vs. X-Division Champion Abyss for the Title. Abyss gets the pin in a decent match.
Kurt Angle promo in the back talking about his match with RVD.

Eric Young vs. TV Champion Gunner for the Title. Young lays down for Gunner then as Gunner is about to pin him, Young turns it into an inside cradle to win the Title. Eric Young bails and Gunner goes after him.

Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam. The Jarretts come out for commentary. Kurt Angle gets the pin in a good back and forth match.

This was a typical TNA show. There was less than an hour of wrestling on this show. Wrestling really matters!
