5-19-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the May 19, 2011 episode of Impact
The “wrestling matters” show starts off WITH AN IN RING PROMO from guess who, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and the rest of Immortal! Yep folks, nothin says wrestling matters like starting the show with the usual Bischoff-Immortal in ring segment! Way to go TNA! Bischoff says that Hulk and Mick are in NYC at some meeting with the “Network” so Immortal is running the show tonight. Brian Kendrick, Amazing Red and Generation Me then come out and Kendrick rags on Bischoff saying that the X-Division talent have been left out in the cold. Bischoff sets up matches for them all except for Kendrick. Immortal then beat on the X-Division guys and Fortune hit the ring for the save. Good brawl to start the show and probably the best part.

Mickie James, Miss Tessmacher & Tara vs. Madison Rayne, Sarita & Rosita. Mickie, Tessmacher & Tara get the win when Tara pins Rosita. Mexican America were on commentary.

Bischoff motivates Abyss backstage for his Title match.

X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian vs. Abyss for the Title. Abyss gets the pin and is the new X-Division Champion. This was a good match and they had some good spots in there.  Nothin against Abyss but I don’t know why put the X Title on him?

Gunner is in the back looking for Eric Young.

Amazing Red vs. Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe gets the win in a real short squash match. Joe continues to beat on Red till Crimson makes the save. Why is Samoa Joe a heel again?

AJ Styles is in the ring with a neck brace and he calls out Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer comes out and they go back and forth on the mic. Dreamer eventually attacks Styles. Christopher Daniels makes the save, then Bully Ray comes out and hits AJ in the back of the neck with a chain and he and Dreamer lay out Daniels and AJ. This was pretty good I thought. Dreamer still cuts a great promo even as a heel.

Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett are in the ring and they go back and forth on the mic and they set up a match at Slammiversary with the becoming the number one contender for the World Title. Kurt says that after what happened at Sacrifice, Karen is out of commission. Jarrett ads a stip, that if he wins, he gets Kurt’s gold medals. Karen then comes out in a wheelchair and Velvet Sky comes out and shoves Karen down the entrance ramp. This feud needed to end back in April. Please let Slammiversary be the end of this idiocy!

Generation Me in the back saying how there is tension between them but they are putting their differences aside for the good of the X-Division.

Eric Bischoff is his office on the phone with Hulk Hogan saying he was gonna knockout some vanilla midgets. That was idiotic! I’m really tired of Bischoff. The guy brings nothing to the table!

The Jarretts are in the back and Jeff is on the phone with Bischoff, who set up a handicap, Velvet vs. Angelina and Winter. Then Jeff and Karen argue. Lame!

Generation Me (who were in the midst of a feud, but are now teaming up again) vs. Matt Hardy and Eric Bischoff. Matt and Bischoff win after Bischoff gets the pin. THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THE X-DIVISION TALENT? By having one of them job to ERIC BISCHOFF!! Yeah, wrestling really matters in TNA!!

Winter and Angelina in the back with Winter saying that after tonight they will no longer have to worry about Velvet. UGH!

Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love and Winter. Velvet pins Angelina for the win. ODB then returns and lays out Velvet. This is another dumb storyline that they gotta end!

Miss Tessmacher is in the back doing a “photo shoot” with Eric Young. This is dumb. Gunner finds him and Eric Young babbles nonsense then Gunner attacks him.

Bobby Roode and Ric Flair are in the ring and they go back and forth on the mic and Immortal eventually attacks Roode and they injure his shoulder as payback for Roode injuring Flair at Lockdown.

Sting does a promo then Ken Anderson comes out to Sting’s theme music and the lights went and when they came back on Ken Anderson, who is dressed up in the old Sting get up attacks Sting from behind.

This certainly wasn’t a show where wrestling mattered! It was the same old crap from TNA we’ve been seeing for months!
