6-9-11 Impact results and thoughts

Coverage and thoughts on the June 9, 2011 episode of Impact

I lost power at 9:30 last night and had to watch the show on youtube today. I couldn't see the main event tag match on there for some reason. Sorry about that.

The show starts with a Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff promo mentioning Mick Foley being “canned” last week. Anderson (not dressed as old school Sting)
and Sting come to the ring. Hogan talks about how wrestling matters (whatever). He promised the network that the Sting-Anderson match at the PPV would have a clear cut winner. Anderson talks about how everything Sting stands for is a joke. Anderson says at Slammiversary he will be the TNA Champion. Sting says if Anderson wants to become Champion he has to beat him and he won’t let that happen and that while he has the Title he has the power to make a difference in TNA. He says that he wants old Hulk Hogan to return, the Hulk that the fans idolized. Sting then gets in Bischoff’s face a bit and he tells Hulk to cut the “cancer” and not to tell him he hasn’t got a choice because he does. This was a typical TNA promo to start the show. Not that bad but not really that good either. Hulk Hogan Brother Meter-3

Mickie James & Tara vs. Winter & Angelina Love.  Winter & Angelina win this one when Angelina pins Mickie. Madison Rayne comes out and sends Tara into the ring steps. This was a decent match, but a little slow I thought.
Beer Money and Alex Shelly are in the back and Roode says he’s glad Shelly’s filling in for him as Tag Champion.

Mexican American promo backstage complaining that they’re match is Non-Title. This gimmick is awful.

They show a Crimson-Samoa Joe brawl in a bar. This was ok, but not too great either.

Jeff Jarrett comes in the building and the cameraman asks how Karen is doing and Jarrett walked off.

James Storm & Alex Shelly vs. Mexican America. Mexican America win when Anarquia pins Storm after Shelly kicks Storm by mistake. British Invasion were on commentary. This was a decent match.

Ken Anderson & Gunner are in the back and they talk about the tag match later in the show and how Anderson wants to hurt Sting.

Mexican America walk into Hulk’s office and ask why they haven’t gotten a Tag Title match. Anarquia asks is it because they’re Mexican? Hogan gets in their faces about their racist attitude. This segment was crap!

Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett go back and forth in the ring talking about their PPV match. This was typical stuff from these guys, they talked about how Karen is out of the picture and Jarrett says he will get Angle’s gold medals Sunday. Angle thanks Jarrett for getting Karen out of the way and Sunday it will be one on one.

ODB promo ragging on Velvet Sky. Not bad.

Bully Ray comes out and takes the mic and issues an open challenge. RVD comes out.
Rob Van Dam vs. Bully Ray. Van Dam wins after AJ Styles, in the crowd distracts Ray. This was a solid match.

Velvet Sky promo ragging on ODB.

Kazarian and Kendrick are walking backstage and they run into Abyss and he challenges them to a 3 way for the “Extreme” Title as Abyss called for Sunday and that he no longer need Janice, which Kazarian was carrying. Kendrick flips out about what happens if they don’t win. I don’t get this.

Velvet Sky vs. ODB. Velvet wins. This was a good back and forth match. The finish came out of nowhere though.

Sting tries to talk Eric Young into bringing out the competitor in him for the match next.

Sting & Eric Young vs. Ken Anderson & Gunner. Anderson & Gunner win. I lost power last night and couldn’t see this match on youtube for some reason.

Sting and Eric Young are in the parking lot and Sting tells Young to cut out the comedy and Eric says he’s confused. So am I.

AJ STyles promo saying that he got in Bully Ray's head tonight and that Ray backed away. Ray comes in and says he doesn't back away from anybody and security seperates both guys.

Ken Anderson promo saying that Gunner pinned Sting earlier then Sting goes after Anderson and beat him down in a trailor.

This show was ok, but not really anything different for TNA.
