Coverage
and thoughts on the November 7, 2013 episode of Impact
The show starts with Dixie Carter & Pacman Jones
walking backstage. Then Ken Anderson comes by & tells Dixie he wants a
match with Bully Ray. Dixie can make that happen but she has to do him a favor.
Dixie & Pacman have stuff to do. This was idiotic. Why’d the bring Pacman
Jones back?
The MEM comes to the ring. Sting says in June he
reformed MEM to get rid of Ray was champion & to keep Aces & 8s at bay.
Today they can say job accomplished. But it came with hardship. They faced it
all. It’s been tough on them all. They’ve been talking as a family. Tonight MEM
will be put back on the shelf till further notice. Last week Sting was given
the chance to wrestle for the world title & he came up short. Magnus came
out on top & seized the moment. Then he says he knows Kurt will seize the
moment & become world champion again. So will Joe. Magnus will; also be
world champion. Sting’s heading to deal entitlement. He means those who want
something for nothing, believe they should come in at the top & not have to
pay their dues. Sting wasn’t taught that way. He has respect for this business,
especially those who came before him. Sting hugs all 3 guys & tells them he
loves them. Then he leaves the ring. Then Joe says for the past few months he’s
had Angle’s & Magnus’ back, but he’s been denied a title reign for far too
long. The road to that title starts with Magnus & will probably have to go
through Angle. Joe says they’re friends but they make better enemies. Then Joe
leaves. Then Magnus says Angle’s on a road to redemption. He applauds Angle
because he is one of the greatest of all time. But Angle’s road to redemption
just so happens to be Magnus’ road to destiny. He loves Angle like a brother
but Magnus says that he will get through Joe & mow Angle down if he has
too. Magnus intends to become world champion for the very first time. Then he
leaves. Finally Angle says it’s been an honor to run with these guys for 5
months but they have their own personal goals. Angle’s is to win the world
title tournament & be world champion again. Angle has to do this to show he
is Hall of Fame worthy. Last week he wrestled & was knocked out in his
match with Bobby Roode. But Angle talked to his doctor. Then out comes Bobby
Roode. Roode says this is [pathetic. Roode is embarrassed for Kurt. Making
excuse week after week is embarrassing. He tells Angle to be a man & admit
that he lost twice to the it factor. The world title tournament is upon us
& Roode’s in the tournament too. If Angle makes it to the finals Roode will
have no problem kicking his ass for a third time. Angles says he faces Aries
next week in the first round but he does expect to meet Roode in the finals.
When that happens Roode’s ass is his. But maybe Angle doesn’t wanna wait till
the final. He punches Roode, they go at & referees & security come in
to separate them but that of course has no affect. Angle spears Roode to the
mat & keeps pounding away on him as the referees & security try to pull
them apart. Break time. This was a typical long promo to kick off a wrestling
show. I’m glad that MEM is no more for now & hope it stays that way. All 4
guys solid promos. I also liked the Angle-Roode part of this.
Back from break & Kurt Angle is sitting in a
chair in the ring. He can wait all night. He tells Roode he will wait all night
or till next week. If Roode doesn’t face him like a man then Roode is a coward.
Roode comes back out & the brawl resumes. Al Snow, Pat Kenny, security &
referees come in to break it up. Snow & Pat keep Roode in the ring while
the refs & security escort Angle up the ramp. Then Angle storms back to the
ring & goes after Roode again. Some of the other talent comes out to break
up the brawl too. Angle & Roode keep trying to get at each other as everyone
else tries to keep the 2 apart. Eventually Joe & others walk Angle up the
ramp as Angle’s music plays Roode stands in the ring & dares Angle to come
back in. This was a good pull apart brawl. I’m not sure why the fight didn’t
continue during the break but this was still very well done.
Then Daniels & Kazarian taunt Pacman Jones &
DiQuinn Evans (I think that’s the other guy’s name). They shove them & they
hop the rail. Then they get in the ring & take down Daniels & Kazarian.
Then the football pose in the ring. This was odd. Why’d they have Daniels &
Kazarian get easily taken out by Pacman Jones & this other guy?
Backstage we see Knox & Garrett. They tell
camera guy the status of the club isn’t his business. Then Anderson comes by.
He tells Knox & Garrett he gets the loyalty. The best thing that ever
happened to Anderson was when they took the colors off of him. Whatever. I’m
really tired of this Aces & 8s but will Anderson be looking to take control
of the club? Or what’s left of it.
Velvet Sky vs. ODB vs. Brooke to determine the
number 1 contender to the Knockouts Title. Velvet wins by DQ when Gail comes in
& hits Velvet with the belt. Gail & Tapa were at ringside & then
got on the apron. Velvet was setting Brooke up for her finisher & then Gail
came in hit Velvet with the title. Then she gives Velvet her finisher &
Then Tapa lays out Brooke. Then ODB & Tapa go at it & Tapa gives ODB a
Samoan Drop. Then Gail says she has beaten everybody & has no competition
left. With Tapa by her side she is unstoppable. As of this moment she is issuing
an open challenge to any female wrestler outside the company to face her. If
that woman can beat her she will give that person a title match. Then she says
that she is the longest reigning Knockouts Champion & the greatest Knockout
of all time. This was a decent match but it was also entirely pointless. I don’t
get why they had this number 1 contender match if they were gonna have Gail
& Tapa come in & lay everybody out. Gail cut a good heel promo
afterwards though. Her issuing a challenge to anyone outside the company was kind
of interesting. Will a former Knockout be returning?
They show an AJ Styles video package with clips of
him defending his title in AAA.
They show still shots of BFG 2012 when Jeff Hardy
won the world title.
Backstage Knox & Garrett think Anderson might be
right. Then Ray comes in. He tells them that he sees & hears everything
that goes on involving this club. He reminds them that he brought this club together
for “us.” Garrett says it hasn’t been “us” in a while. When do they vote on
anything? Ray says they do all the time but Knox says they’re not votes, they’re
Ray’s decisions. Ray says he makes the decisions because he is the president.
Knox has had it & he says that the 3 of them along with Taz will vote (I’m
not sure on what) & then storms off. Then Ray tells Garrett to make sure to
vote the right way. This was lame. I’ve had enough of this club. Maybe they’ll
vote in if they should get rid of it.
Backstage Dixie’s on her phone flipping out about
how something happened. This guy (AJ Styles) is trying to humiliate her &
will try to do the same to whoever she’s talking to. Then in comes EC3. She
says he’s done a great job so far but they need to change their game plan. This
week she wants him to pick his opponent. Ethan thought that it would be easy
since he’s Dixie’s nephew but she had him face 2 world class athletes. It hasn’t
been easy, & he feels like this week his streak might end. She tells him
they’re the Carters & the world needs them. I could care less. This was
dreadful. Having Dixie as the heel owner is terrible & this EC3 character
is lame too.
Knox & Garrett are in the ring. Garrett says
they’re here for 1 reason. To decide the future of this club. Garrett tells Taz
to come in the ring. Then he tells Ray to come out. Out comes Ray. Ray asks if
we know who he is. Garrett says they all know who he is. Ray’s the poison that’s
torn this club apart. This club has always been about Ray & not the other
guys. They vote now. Then out comes Ken Anderson. Anderson says he’s just
watching & tells them to carry on. Garrett says he is finished. He takes
his vest off & places it on the turnbuckle post. Ray says he can always
count on Knox. He tells him to send Garrett home. Knox doesn’t need Ray, this
club or these colors. He also takes his vest off. Ray says there will be a tie
vote & the tie goes to the president. He votes to keep his invention/club
right where it is. Since Taz is his best friend we know how he will vote.
Unlike the other 2 Taz knows to do what this president tells him to. Then Taz
says Ray needs to pump the breaks a bit. Their whole careers Taz & Ray have
done the right thing. Taz says that Ray knows this club has only been about Ray’s
agenda. Taz says that Knox & Garrett are right. He’s done too. He takes his
vest off. Ray tells him to put his colors back on. Taz says to make him. Ray
tells Taz to fall in line before he falls on his face. He tells Taz again to
put his colors back on. Taz says to make him & he will destroy Ray. Then
Ray blames Anderson. Anderson says Ray has no more guys to do his dirty work or
whatever. Then Anderson says that in Orlando at the Turning Point Impact he
wants to fight Ray in a No DQ match. Ray’s hated Anderson from day 1 & is
nothing without Ray. What Ray never got about Anderson is that for a guy who
respects Steve Austin, Ray can’t believe Anderson forgot the very first rule.
Then Knox & Garrett attack Anderson & throw him in the ring. Knox super
kicks him. Then Ray hits Anderson with his chain & tells him not to trust
anybody. Ray said it before & he will say it again. When you ride with the
Aces & 8s you never walk alone. I wasn’t into this. I was really hoping to
God that they would do away with this club but they threw a swerve at us.
Time for a quick note. We’re more than half way
through this show & there’s only been ONE match! This company isn’t Total
Nonstop Action right now!
Bobby Roode comes out. He tells Angle this isn’t
over. He’s kicking Angle’s ass tonight. Roode flips & wants Angle to come
out.
Then out go the lights & EC3’s Tron comes up on
the screen.
Dewy Barnes vs. Ethan Carter III. EC3 gets the pin.
This was a squash mostly. Is EC3 gonna Face any other guys besides these 2 he’s
squashed? Then he says he is EC3 & he’s a Carter. “The world needs us.” No
we don’t. This is crap!
Backstage Joseph Park is having some leftover Halloween
candy. Then in come Daniels & Kazarian. They mention that Park wasn’t there
last week & Abyss showed up. This week it’s the other way around. Abyss
goes the way of the Dodo & “this dodo” show up. Then they dump the candy
out. Then EY comes in & challenges Daniels & Kazarian to a tag match
tonight. Daniels & Kazarian leave & Park thanks EY for showing up. This
was a mixed bag bit. Daniels & Kazarian were good here but I’m tired of the
Joseph Park character.
Eric Young & Joseph Park vs. Christopher Daniels
& Frankie Kazarian. Daniels & Kazarian win when Kazarian pins Park.
This was a decent mach. Park has Kazarian on his shoulders & Daniels throws
his drink at Park. Then Kazarian roles him up for the pin.
Kurt Angle comes out on the stage. He tells Roode he
isn’t a hard man to find. He will be at ringside. If Roode wants a piece of him
he can come get him. Out comes Austin Aries. Aries says he’s been watching what’s
been going on. He gets that Kurt’s focus is on Roode. But next week Angle will
be stepping in the ring with Aries. Aries has nothing but respect for Angle
& knows why they call him a cyborg. Aries has been known to be a wrestling
machine & if Angle doesn’t give it 100% he will lose. Then Dixie shows up
on the Tron, spins the wheel & the Angle-Aries match next week will be a
submission match. Then Bobby Roode comes out & goes after Angle. Then Aries
goes after Roode. Then Angle shoves Aries away & goes after Roode. Then
Angle & Aries go at it. Then security comes out to break it up. Roode says
that he isn’t done with Angle. This was a solid segment. Aries cut a good promo
& I liked the 3 way mini brawl.
TNA World Title Tournament – First Round: Jeff Hardy
vs. X Division Champion Chris Sabin in a Full Metal Mayhem match. Jeff gets the
pin. This was a really good back & forth match.
Then trainers & Velvet come in to check on Sabin
as Jeff celebrates to end the show.
I thought this week’s show was a mixed bag overall.
There was a lot of talking & very little wrestling. The opening segment
with MEM breaking up was ok but not great. I liked the Angle-Roode stuff though.
They had a good brawl & this storyline has been good so far. I wasn’t sure
why they had the 2 football guys lay out Daniels & Kazarian. Those 2 guys
are the most entertaining performers in the company & having them get taken
out by Pacman Jones & the other football player was lame. The Angle-Aries
promo/Angle-Aries-Roode mini brawl was well done too. I really enjoyed the
Jeff-Sabin match. That was easily my favorite part of the show. The Aces &
8s in ring segment didn’t work for me. I wasn’t into the swerve. EY &
Joseph Park vs. Daniels & Kazarian was decent, Daniels & Kazarian are
entertaining but I’m tired of the Joseph Park character. The 3 way knockouts
match was pointless. Having a 3 way number 1 contender match with no finish
made no sense. Gail Kim’s promo was good though & I’m a bit curious if a
former knockout will return. The EC3 Character is terrible & I wish they
would have him face someone on the TNA roster. This whole bit with him being
Dixie’s nephew & the world “needing” the Carters is terrible. So for the most part I thought this was a
mixed bag show at best.
